Quoted from o-din:

I was just going by the poster that said Rick had stated that these were redesigned to prevent SDTM drains and the article in pinball news that also says they are different. At first I thought I could see it, but maybe vid is right, it is just the flap.

The originals have plastic triangles riveted to the ramp near the entrances to guide the ball away from SDTM on weak shots that don't make it up the ramp. Not sure about patent concerns but there would be no reason to redesign this feature if you have the rights to it already.

You would assume they have the right to this feature... along with all the other WMS MM properties.

Do the pics show the narrow triangles down by the ramp entrance? In a pic the area past the metal flap on the ramp will look like there is a "split" in the ramp but that is just the long edge of the plastic triangular part.

Quoted from Pimp77:

Yes, they look the same. What's different about them?

No idea. I was just telling o-din what to look for at the ramp entrances for comparison.

Quoted from The_Dude_Abides:

Couldn't disagree with you more. Your approach/preference may be a little too old school for me to understand perhaps mine to new for you. I've never had any issues with the powder coat on my pins. To each their own...

Well when you scratch or chip your PCoating you have some choices to try to repair it... none particularly good.

With stainless you can simply sand away marks and scratches. In fact you polish to an almost chrome-like shine.

I like both looks myself but there are good reasons for either choice... stainless is not just for us "old school" relics
