Quoted from stangbat:From what I understand, the truth is Chicago Gaming wanted payment. JJP had to either pony up the cash themselves or get it from the customers. Some distributors that didn't order as many games as JJP didn't ask for money. But JJP ordered >100 MMR LE. So either they fork out close to 3/4 million and give it to CG, or they get it from the customers. I can't say I blame them for asking for payment. Supposedly it has been verified that the money JJP collected was sent to Chicago Gaming, Jack isn't sitting on it. Finally, JJP as well as everyone else was told that the games were close to shipping. Collecting the money didn't seem premature based on what we were being told.
Blaming all this on JJP seems like shooting the messenger to me. They were told to pay, they were told games were shipping soon. If anyone has a different story, please share. I'd like to know if this is wrong.
I seriously doubt that JJP has paid CG for goods that have not been shipped or delivered. This is not how businesses typically work, and would mean PPS/CG has been lying that they would not request payment until a game was close to shipment. Where are you getting information that they have sent the payments to CG?
JJP was quick to request full payment when PPS thought they were close to starting production. This was fine but when it became apparent that production was going to be significantly delayed they should have offered to return the payments.
It amazes me that people defend this type of thing. MMR was never suppose to be a pre-order but JJP has turned it into one and created a lot of unnecessary angst.
