Quoted from PPS:Two MMR's are on their way down to TPF right now, so they are in transit ... so there will be plenty of info on them as they will be setup for play somewhere on the floor ...

Yes, I was being funny. But on the other hand, if the game isn't perfect, best to tell us now. The last thing I want to see are 2 pages of refake idiots with "I told you so's."
I'm assuming this is the final, 100% completed game, but maybe not.
Quoted from yotaxi125:I assumed you were just being funny, but those answers will be obvious to those lucky enough to be at the festival this weekend (YES, I'm jealous...)
meanwhile, 6 days until Q2........

Well, I really hope it is 100% complete. I agree with you there, I mean, if it isn't complete by now, then we are behind schedule for Q2 shipment I would imagine.....

why are you obsessed with the Q2 date? i won't mind a bit if it's late as long as it's good.

obsessed is a strong word... and inaccurate to my situation.
it's an exciting time BECAUSE we are so close to the reported shipment period, that's all.

ok cool, sorry for being up tight.
Just throwing this out there. Why can't it be good and on time?

It'd be a nice change to have topics of people pissed off about a late MM instead of late WOZ's

when i was really heavily into gaming (late 90s / early 2000s), tons and tons of crappy games would be released and complained about, and then Blizzard would dump an absolute masterpiece like StarCraft or Diablo II ... literally years behind schedule, but they were totally polished, balanced, finished, and fun games that blew away everything else on the market at the time.
i guess i am sensitive to that subject because as a gamer / software engineer, nothing is worse than rushed product. i've been on both sides of it, and believe me the engineers hate it as much as the customer. (code of course can be updated, but hardware and physical design and specs, not so much.)

The games going down to TPF are what we would call proto or sample games - the castle sequence works, the LED's are smoothed out, etc, one will have gold trim the other will be silver/stainless. These games will be for viewing and testing and finding anything in addition that needs to be done by putting it out in the show, etc. Anything that is found, etc will be rolled into the pre-production games, updates, etc, so we will be checking on the feedback on the trim, feedback on the LED effects, etc.
We will have a pre-production game at Pin A Go-Go, and then production starts after these games get some additional beatings. Lot's to do ... final games are what ships and even then there is always some tweaking as more learning and feedback comes in.

Quoted from Rarehero:I know, I might have to go now...lol
My plan is to fly up Saturday morning, rent a car for the day, and then fly back that evening. What I did last year, super easy. Just come with me if you don't want to do an extended trip.
so excited just to see pictures and reviews. I can't imagine what I'd feel if I could actually make it!

Quoted from retired_user_101:you both should come to TPF !
i've got cigars with your names on them.
Yeah ...two things in that offer that are doing the opposite of enticing me lol Cleland knows me too well.

O.k. Rookie question. What constitutes a "pre-production game"?

hmmm....
Quoted from Pindad:O.k. Rookie question. What constitutes a "pre-production game"?
Could be a lot of things. I would think it to be not quite a hand built prototype, but not run down an assembly line yet. And possibly training people on it that will be assembling them.
May have earlier version parts or electronics in it, as they are acquiring parts to go into full scale production.

Ha! That's some funny sh!t right there. For the record I don't know Rarehero that well...LOL...
Looking forward to hearing about the two MMR's there and how they play and feel compared to an original.

I thought he just didn't like his name written on his cigars.
Who's got 2 thumbs and one thumbs up for an HD video upload? This guy.
Quoted from miggitymac:I can't wait to see how many thumbs up the person who uploads MMR HD video gets...
Quoted from cleland:I can't imagine Vegan Greg smoking a cigar, LOL.. Now I'm thinking of attending though!
Why not? Cigars are vegan....nothing but a plant leaf!

A pre-production game is a game that is made before production line starts.

Just don't inhale! Otherwise...
At TPF, we will use the proto games to get feedback on things like the Gold Trim and if there is any lightening or darkening that we want to do or if it's just right (there have been many iterations), we will also check with people's feedback on the led smoothing and if we would want to make any tweaks in that (which is usually capacitor/resistor values as well as some software things, obviously if there are any art related things, as well as overall game experience. Now is the time if there are any things that need to be adjusted we get the feedback, so TPF is good timing for a first unveiling (of course I expect any minor issue to be turned into a major on pinside ... lol).
So, that's part of the process with pilot games which will be to check the overall target of the game, and then the pre-production is to be the game that will have everything final and checking for any last sets of things to fix/improve putting them in test environments, etc. Then the production games will ship with the expectation that the pilot and pre-production has shaken out the issues.
Now is also the time that parts coming can also be messed up from suppliers lol ... not saying that is happening here, but for BBB there were instances of parts coming in differently and then realizing that as assemblies were put together, and then another cycle of getting those issues fixed ... obviously things we are doing everything to avoid.
So, it's good for people to understand the process, as with any manufacturing of a complex item (or even software which is inherently complex), there are different stages of getting things finalized ... of course even after shipment there are in many past cases software updates, fixes, etc.
OUTSTANDING.Thank you for thte informative post. Do you have an upcoming 2014 show list for MMR viewing/testing made?(besides TPF)
No, honestly do not have a show list, as you can expect it's a double edged sword (good = people see it, bad = takes away from being able to get it out) ...
The approach is that we work with the local re-seller in the area as we want them to be th focal point at each show as they can demonstrate the product and talk to prospective customers, etc.
So, TPF, PAGG, Seattle are confirmed that MMR will be there, Allentown we are working on getting that put together and then additional from there.
Doug Duba (president of Chicago Gaming) that is designing and building the game will be with me at TPF, so we will probably discuss what can be done when there or if not there if it's too hectic shortly thereafter.

Isn't MGC like a nine iron away from Chicago Gaming?
Oh well, I guess I will have to commision a few friends to check it out for me at TPF..........
