I went to BAA yesterday at lunch to pick up some parts for my NBAFB that I ordered from Planetary Pinball. Now I remember why I don't live in south bay, lots of stop signs, traffic and circuitous routes. It took forever to go 15 miles.
First off, they have a lot of Gene's stuff that they are going thru; it’s stacked everywhere. The NBAFB part I wanted was just put on the Planetary website and they didn't have an idea where it was when I got there; they tried to give me another part. Anyway, they finally figured out what I needed and they’re going to ship it today.
While I was there I played a couple games on the MMr in the "showroom"...more like a small room with a few games and less stuff piled around.
It plays like I remember from 15 years ago. I even think the gold trim, which is what I have on order, looked pretty good. The only thing I noticed was that the flippers seemed to have a slightly different feel than I remember, a little less snappy. It was just a feeling, and they actually worked fine.
I didn't see any DMD tearing, but I was playing not looking up much. The left outlane graphics alignment was off at the switch, which I only noticed when I tried to see if I could find any registration issues. It was there but I'm going to be able to live with it if mine is no worse.
Anyway, I'm glad I've got one on order. It looks good, plays well and it's fun.
