Quoted from tdiddy:

I'm have a small, sometimes when I shoot the left loop, and I don't get enough speed on the ball. The ball gets stuck under the left gate, and need to remove the glass to free the ball. The gate operates fine on the skill shot and also the right loop. But every now and then it's getting trapped. Anyone else have this issue or ideas how to resolve it

I have that issue as well. It happens at least one of three games. Going to try what Llyod recommends.

Quoted from Rat:

Have you installed your new speaker panel yet?
I just got an new original one for mine and some better speakers.
I'm not going to install until tomorrow but had a quick look and wondering how you remove those metal retainers on the speaker covers? They have to be removed as the new panel doesn't come with covers but it looks like the retainers will be a PIA to get off and will probably be wrecked in the process. What will I replace them with if this is the case?
Anything else I should be looking out for doing this job?
I am already going to follow the advice in the other upgrade speakers thread.

You have to break off the nobs the retainers are attached to. Use a pair of pliers or tweezers. My panel came with a set of retainers. The old mmr panel is basically garbage. I tried many ways to get them off. After I broke the first one, the rest went in 5 minutes.

One thing for sure, after I wax my game, it plays totally different. I need to get a couple dozen games on it before it "calms" down.

Quoted from gunstarhero:

Picked up a gold "Williams" speaker panel at Pin A Go Go last weekend to replace the plain one on my MMR. I always heard it was a straight swap, and while they do look the same I didn't realize the whole thing is held together with some kind of press on washer. Anyone got any tips for removing the old screen cover and speaker grills from the old panel and reinstalling them on the new panel without totally destroying it?

I tried keeping those washers in decent shape as I replaced my panel. In the end wasting so much time, I just ripped them off. It wasn’t worth the time and hassle. Job then took a few minutes.

I’m trying to understand this as I also received an invoice ( to be paid at time of shipping). The GI illumination kit is $249. So if you never purchased the color chip for $200 way back when, this new GI kit would now give you color? If so, it seems as if I wasted $200. Trying to understand this part of the upgrades.

#4549 4 years ago

Yes I know that. I was the original owner and bought the color chip for $200. My question is, is the color chip needed for the GI kit? In other words, let’s say you never got the color chip, will the new GI kit now give you color making the chip no longer required.

Congrads on your game.
Can you advise on the dimensions of the topper. Specifically looking for the height as I have a low ceiling. Thks

I shattered the glass on my backboard trying to take it out for a battery replacement. It’s alway been difficult to get out as the speaker panel seems an 1/8” too big. In any case does anyone know where a can get a replacement?
I’ve searched around (planetary, Marco) but not sure of the correct size.

Quoted from Sorokyl:

it's just clear glass right? I had this happen on a spike 2 game recently. Marcos wanted $70 plus shipping for the glass. My local glass company sold me a piece for $22. It's not tempered, but I feel like that piece doesn't really need to be. (if you want tempered, I'm sure your local glass company can still do it for less than any pinball place)
edit, or use the opportunity to change to a mirrored backglass: (use the original translite somewhere else at home or sell online...)

Yes it was clear glass but it must have been some type of shatterproof. It was the original glass than CCG put in the game. I had replaced the translite with a 3D one that someone was selling years ago. The actual transits is fine. Just can’t find who is selling just the glass at the correct dimensions. So don’t need the translite. I guess I’ll contact planetary and or my local glass co. Just need the dimensions.
