Also check the screws on all of the roll over switches as I found almost all of them loose and some almost falling apart and resulting in not registering.
Quoted from Animal:How do you initiate multiball madness?? The manual says compete one of the tasks, for example, revolting peasants, and then make the Merlin eject shot. Im assuming that when you complete a task, then it lights up under the eject hole. but, there are times when I light up a number of tasks then put it in the eject hole, but multiball madness does not initiate. Do you have to do something else other than lighting up a task?
You are correct. What happens though is once you trigger multiball it won't trigger again just by hitting the Merlin hole. If it did you would have multi balls all the time. This is why it is best to try and complete as many tasks as possible before hitting the Merlin hole. The optimal strategy is to complete Peasant, Damsel, Catapult, Joust, but not Troll. Troll needs to be lit however by completing the yellow targets next to the castle 8 times so when you get the Merlin hole Trolls will activate during your multiball then when you complete Trolls it will immediately start multiball again so all balls lost you will get back.
Having an issue with the left troll. It pops up when it should then sometimes immediately pops back down. Sometimes it will not pop back up but usually does. I've checked connectors and wires to assembly all seems good. I bent the switch a little to trigger the hold switch to work better and this seems to help but it still has happened only fewer times. Also when I run the troll switch test the left troll occasionally shows this up down behavior. Weird
Yes I am pushing +\- and troll test is fine. Last post I did not push then hence the bad results but since your post I have done the test properly. Both trolls register hits no problem only left troll sometimes drops after rising. The error message is gone but I just finished a game where in play trolls popped up then left troll sagged about a half inch stayed there for a few seconds then collapsed while the display read both trolls need to be hit 3 times. Can't figure out what is causing the collapse.
Think I resolved it! After learning the switch next to the troll is only for registering hits I moved on to the driver 3 board left of the troll. The blue wire is the wire responsible for holding the troll up. After many unplugs and replugs not helping I examined the pins on the board and voila the blue wire pin was bent. I put needle nose pliers to it making it straight, replug and test. So far no issues both through troll solenoid test and in game play. Yay!
Quoted from sparechange1974:Having trouble getting to video mode. I've adjusted the settings to spell fire 5 times instead of 8. How do I start the mode once the requirements have been met? I'm missing something
Once you get 8 or 5 in your case you hit the Merlin hole and it will select it. Good luck!
Quoted from gliebig:When I stack the peasant/damsel/joust's...and then start multiball, I sometimes get rewarded with Troll also but I'm not sure why I get that occasionally?
If troll is lit at the Merlin hole when you start multiball madness it will launch trolls during multiball. If you complete 3 hits on each troll before you lose multiball it will restart multiball madness with troll added to the multiball. Always try to have troll lit when you enter multiball madness!
