The truck came today!
Got the game set up. Leveled and 7 degree pf pitch. It really plays great. Looked it over very carefully and cabinet/decals look next to perfect. Was able to locate a few very tiny imperfections in the pf clear coat. You would never see any of them unless you were really trying to find them. I'm very happy with the build quality.
It did come with the coin mechs. Has two different 11629 wrappers on the flipper coils. Not sure why that is? Build date of game is 9/12/17. Playfield is dated August 2016. I'm not sure if there is a more recent run that they will eventually switch over to, but the inserts have a nice dark black text on them and the clear has a beautiful gloss to it. Everything in the back box looks like previous runs of mmr.
Quoted from Damien:One other thing I noticed from that new MMR pic is that they're now adding a subwoofer to the package.
Maybe we should be getting them too
I'm not following what you're saying. Is the speaker in the bottom of the cabinet different than those in the earlier runs? Thanks. Mike
Hello all. I installed the mantis moat jump protector which covers up the playfield where the ball enters the lock door on the castle (the etched piece). The protector also extends to the right, under the castle gate. Does anyone have the ball flying up in the air when it hits this extension of the protector. I don't see a lot of area for adjustment on this. I'm thinking I may have to cut the extension off. Thanks for any ideas. Mike
Quoted from Damien:For previous MM original owners, what flipper strength on MMR feels most like the original game?
Tried tonight and -2 and it definitely feels different.
I'm at 7 degree playfield pitch and like -2 the best. No problem making any shots at all. Not sure how that compares to a newly rebuilt original mm, but -2 feels best to me on mine. I've played plenty of originals in the wild where it was nearly impossible to make the damsel shot.
Catapult shot is by far the most difficult shot to make. Extremely difficult to make intentionally with a cradled ball on the right flipper. What are your thoughts on that? Do you find a certain playfield pitch or flipper strength setting changes the difficulty of the shot? Thanks. Mike
Video mode is available after completing all 4 inlane/outlanes, 10 times (factory setting). I enjoy playing the video mode, so I currently have the setting at 5 completions to make it available. You need to kill 30 birds to light the extra ball and I have never even come close.
Quoted from HookedonPinonics:I believe there are 7 way to get extra balls to get your game to a total of 10 balls. I can only think of 6 of those ways now. These are in no particular order in how to achieve
1. Blow up 2 castles
2. Collect 10 hurry ups
3. Complete royal madness
4. Collect the super jackpot in castle multiball
5. Collect in video mode. Not sure how many of the birds you need to wack but its quite a few
6. Mystery award
I usually get mine in this order
1. Blow up 2 castles
2. Royal madness
3. 10 hurry ups
4. super jackpot collect
the rest are hard. Video mode is difficult to get to let alone get far enough in it to get the extra ball. Not sure when it comes up in mystery but I have gotten it before.
I don't seek the extra balls but they come naturally as you progress through the game. I typically always get at least 2 when I am playing a game.
Quoted from Only_Pinball:That's correct. In addition the Stern built ones didn't have the melamine sides. The CGC ones do.
The only other difference I'm aware of is that is that CGC built games have a Happ door with factory installed coin mechs. Stern runs had the Entropy door with no coin mechs.
Quoted from dluth:Remember you have a smart bomb.
Oh, was not aware of that. Kills all birds on the screen at that time and drops any children that were picked up? Thanks
All mmr standard editions came with the plywood bottom (none ever got the mdf). Early standard editions had the unfinished edges, but later versions had the plastic finish. All LE's had the Entropy coin door. First run of standards had the Entropy door, but later runs got the suzo Happ doors.
Quoted from f3honda4me:I think it's the same.
The matrix with the "new" CE, SE, RE features are here.

robin Can maybe help add these new models to pinside? The classic edition, special edition, and royal edition? The classic edition is essentially the same as the old standard edition.
Let me try to explain - someone correct me if this is wrong:
(first run of MMR done by CGC, no longer made)
MMR Standard edition - no bells and whistles, standard DMD display, MDF Bottom, unfinished backbox edges - original MSRP $8,000
MMR Limited edition - same as standard plus choice of color trim and shaker motor, stronger plywood bottom, finished backbox edges, numbered plaque limited to 1000 games - original MSRP $8,000
(new)
MMR Classic Edition - same as MMR standard edition, but plywood bottom and finished backbox edges is standard now - original MSRP $8,000
MMR Special Edition - same as Classic but comes with HD color, XL display, premium sound system, RGB GI, and RGB Back Panel lighting - original MSRP $9,000
MMR Royal Edition - has the same features as the Special Edition plus the topper, side mirrors, shaker, and Black powdercoat - original MSRP $10,000
