Mmr is amazing.
Amazing build quality, amazing gameplay.
The machine is a work of art.

I'm so glad I sold my Stern ST. And changed my mind about putting the money on a ghostbusters premium. I decided on a proven game, MM.
#1 for a reason.

With updated dots it's going to be even more amazing.

Modding started.
All warm GI leds either color matched or switched to cool white.

Catapult Knight plastic led lit.
I bought an extra set of troll heads.
Troll led eye mod started.

First pic is before the leds were switched.

I bought them from Playdium. They don't have any left though. And they said no plans to order more as the dollar is bad. They were old stock sitting around so I got them at $26 each.

Shipping. No way it's worth the price with shipping and exchange.
It comes to $96 CDN.

I just figured it be good to keep the originals.
Instead of screwing them up if I made a mistake. But it's real easy to mod them so if anyone has plans to do it don't worry about it.

Just hooking them up now.
Wondering what would be best?
Doing this on the cheap.

Options are....

Always on?

Or hooked up to the L+R flashers so they flash when hit?

Well I could hook it up to the hold winding on the troll coils. But they would be on when up and off when down. So it would look the same as on all the time. (Hooked to G.I) not worth the extra work of a bigger resistor and diode added to the circuit for basically the same result.

If I hook it up to the flashers they will flash when hit before going down. And I think when popping up and during any multiball madness.
With trolls up.

I'm going to try it today. And see what looks best.

2-3mm red LEDs. 1 for each eye.
And I used a 1 watt 470 ohm resistor. Even though 1/2 watt would do on the - lead.
Hook up to the L+R flasher plugs under the playfield on the big circuit board

Left troll on the left flasher plug. Right troll on the right plug It takes a bit to get the Leds in the eyes. But it's fairly easy.

On CGC you can't even contact their sales Dept.
It gives a 404 error.

N/M it worked today. It wouldn't let me send a message yesterday to ask about the release plans for the color support.

I figure if enough customers ask, maybe some information will be given. Considering even their distributors are in the dark.

Are you pushing the +/- buttons with the interlock pulled in troll test? If so, I would go into switch test (interlock off) and manually push the troll mechs up to see if the switch registers.
If the switches register it should clear the error.
And the trolls will probably work again.

If the switches don't register maybe more adjusting is needed?

Anyone else notice that there is no williams "bong" on boot up?

None on mine since the update, no real issue. I just find it weird that it's gone.

Yes the colored dots are higher resolution.

And yes most of the mods are compatable. As you can just tie them in to the board under the playfield. Or any G.I. socket.
The leds that are in the machine are the warm retro style. So they look like and act like incandescents. And you can change the incandescent emulation in the software settings. And the brightness of the inserts as well.
To access the CGC settings you hold the escape button in the coindoor down for a few seconds and it goes into a MMr adjustment menu, dmd color, coil strength, flipper strength, etc. Etc.

For all other adjustments, ball save time, extra balls etc. It works the same as every Williams WPC system settings.
All in the MMr manual.

Yeah I lot of the times it comes back straight down the middle. It's basically how the pin is designed (risk vs reward) But I started nudging more. Or slapping the side of the cabinet right after it hits the castle gate and it's a bit more manageable.

Yes video mode is a random and Extremly rare Merlin mystery award. But as others have said you can also get it by spelling fire a certain number of times in a game. You can change the number of fire spellings it takes in the settings.

For the lit starting inserts, It may be (if you didn't change it) that the test/utilities menu presets were changed to "easy" or"extra easy"

And the replay can be changed in the test/standard adjustments and features menu.

Your manual will tell you where everything and what everything does in the menu.
Play around with it until you get the game setting that make it the most enjoyable.

Get trolls mode lit. As well as having all other multiball lit execpt trolls. Start Multiball madness with trolls. Once you knock down the trolls you will add troll multiball madness to you current multiball.
Then once your multiball is over, royal madness will be lit. Start royal madness and every lit shot will add to lighting the blue center inserts.
So if you have already completed the required shots to light a madness twice before starting royal madness. Completing the lit shots associated with each madness will instantly light the blue center insert.

The hardest one to light is castle crusher as you actually have to beat every castle.

Check wires under the playfield aren't in the way of the moat switch. I had this issue with mine out of the box. It's a simple quick fix.
It wasn't kicking out 100% of the time.

It connected directly to the power supply in the bottom of the cabinet. Just unplug it there.
I did it on mine. Labeled knocker right beside fuse F4

It says no solidering required because Williams pins had plugs directly on the speakers.
MMr does not have plugs at the speaker pins. and requires desolidering and solidering.
Unless you go get plugs and crimp them on the wires. That way if you ever need to remove them, you can easily.
As the factory MMr speakers are hardwired.

If it doesn't move with the instructions below something is holding it up. Check it carefully before applying force. It may just be tight. But it doesn't lift straight up and out. It lifts very slightly then tilts forward on to the playfield glass.

Got the madness champ high score today.

First good game I've had on my MMr since Oct. getting diognosed with MS.
Almost feel kinda normal. And back to enjoying pinball.
Absolutely love my MMr

I had an issue with it not dropping everytime about 1/10 it wouldn't drop. This was on the original release code. And had an associated service error. But no issues since the last code update. But I would go into tests and check that diverter and associated switches and board plugs.

It could have been the code update or that I reseated all the board plugs.

I would also reaseat all connections to the boards. Could be a bad connection acting up because of heat expansion.

I have a LE gold MMr. I'm not sure about the topper, or XL display because of price. And neither changes gameplay. I'm interested in the GI upgrade. But will have to see good videos of it in action first.
