Quoted from SuperPinball:

Can it be hooked up to V+ and V- ?

I have my topper (12v) hooked up using the V+ and V- and it works great.

Quoted from hoby1:

My MMR was made by CGC and has melamine

I have MMR #1645 that was built by CGC and it also has a melamine cab

That's pretty impressive! What power level are you flippers set at?

Quoted from Riffbear:

What exactly triggers the castle to collapse?

It needs to trip the opto and then the switch in the moat. Lock is just switch.

#3263 6 years ago
Quoted from Riffbear:

Ok thanks. I just worked it out.. Its the switch in the moat. Mines not centred properly and sometimes the ball passes to the left of it and misses the switch!
Tried to adjust it to no avail

That too is the reason why I sometimes don't get ball locks when hitting through the left wall.

No problem. I have this happen every once in awhile but not very often. Open a ticket with CGC for help, Lloyd and Arturo are awesome and they will get you squared away in no time.

#3265 6 years ago
Quoted from Riffbear:

I did and Lloyd said to adjust the switch..
Have written him back letting him know its not working.

Since that did not help he will probably escalate issue to engineering. You will then most likely hear from Arturo next. I have had a few issues that have all been solved quickly.

#3267 6 years ago
Quoted from Riffbear:

All good! I just fixed it!

AWESOME! Now go play the crap out of it!

#3310 5 years ago

That's odd. Mine doesn't have horns or a mustache!

Quoted from LTG:

They are working on an upgrade kit for this.

Any idea on what this will cost?

#3337 5 years ago
Quoted from LTG:

No idea on cost or what is all included.

Thanks!

#3351 5 years ago
Quoted from Pimp77:

No way that’s $1k! If it is they will sell less than 10.

I agree that $1k is nuts. What would everyone be willing to spend on this? I'd go $500

#3353 5 years ago
Quoted from Pimp77:

No where close to $500 for me. You can get a pretty sweet tv for 500 bones

VERY good point.

Quoted from CubeSnake:

Any ideas on this?

Check for broken return springs.

#3564 5 years ago
Quoted from KozMckPinball:

If the springs were broken it would be repeatable the next day I think.

On mine one of the flippers did this but not all the time. Turned out it was a broken spring. Guess not as easy in this case.

#3600 5 years ago
Quoted from white1ce:

I adjusted the posts and settings as recommended and it is much better. Thanks! And don't worry, I did it with the power off.

You may also want to increase your ball save timer while you get the hang of it.

2 weeks later
#3609 5 years ago
Quoted from Goalie:

Can anyone tell me what the part number is for this metal post? Mine snapped off last night, and I don't see it in the manual

I had the exact same post snap. What I did was this, I took the broken part to Lowe's and used the template to find the thread pitch. Then I found some threaded rod with same pitch. The smallest one they have was about 1/4" longer so I just screwed it into the T nut so the extra part sticks out under PF. Sorry I don't remember the size but I was able to find what I needed in 5 min and was back playing. Hope this helps!

#3629 5 years ago
Quoted from Kkuoppamaki:

I've seen the same issue with sometimes the castle blowing up when shooting the castle multiball gate but I believe it might be a SW bug (also in the original I believe) but could be wrong

It's not a bug. If you trip the bridge/gate opto and then quickly shoot the lock the game thinks you went into castle.

2 weeks later
#3634 5 years ago
Quoted from KozMckPinball:

Trolls going down and up during ball search counts as Troll hits.

Yesterday when playing with my son the ball got stuck behind the right troll. Game went into search and the trolls didn't register a hit when they popped down and back up. My guess is your switch contacts need adjusting.

#3649 5 years ago
Quoted from MrSanRamon:

LE for LE, Standard for CE or some other combo? That might make a difference in the decision.

It's a little different on MMr as the difference between the standard and LE is just a shaker motor and trim color choice. You can add a shaker for $150. Both needed the color upgrade.

As far as trading a MMr for a MBr, I wouldn't do it. MBr is a great game but not nearly as good as MMr in my book.

#3651 5 years ago
Quoted from MrSanRamon:

He gave no indication of what was being traded...a standard routed MMr without color with 10,000 plays for a MBrLE or was it a MMRLE with color chip and 30 plays for a MBr CE.

It makes a difference and that's what I was drilling down to.

Robert

Very good points.

Quoted from Pinball_Eddie:

Is it normal to have a blue box in the top right corner that shows 60hz and the resolution on the display?

Definitely not normal. Mine only shows that for a few seconds when it's booting up.

#3834 5 years ago
Quoted from Pinball_Eddie:

Now just gotta get that blue info box off there and I’ll be golden.

Have you opened a ticket with CGC?

#3840 5 years ago
Quoted from Pinball_Eddie:

Ticket opened today, here’s hoping

Let us know what they say. It sounds like there's some kind of issue with the sync or vid circuit that feeds the LCD. I'm sure CGC will get you fixed up.

Quoted from New_England:

wanted to make a ticket for my MMr. I’ve noticed that sometimes my multiball lock will show “lock lit” after I’ve already gotten to ball 1.

Is this on the first multiball?

#3864 5 years ago
Quoted from New_England:

It’s happening with the first multiball for sure. Seems to be happening for the second as well

Very strange and something I have not had happen on my machine.

#3866 5 years ago
Quoted from New_England:

took the glass off and looked into it more.

Multiball 1: doesn’t require lock lit. Only needs three hits to achieve multiball.

Multiball 2+: lock required after each ball hit. (Ball lock+ball 1, ball lock+ball 2, ball lock+multi ball.)

Correct. Thats why I was asking if it happened on first multiball too.

#3868 5 years ago

Yes. That's how mine is. It's also that way on my AFMr SE. On MB #2 I have to light lock, lock ball and then light lock again.

#3956 4 years ago
Quoted from jarozi:

I believe the LE differences are:

- Trim color choices; Black, Gold or Stainless
- Shaker
- LE plate w/ number
- $200 discount on color chip

That's correct. In addition the Stern built ones didn't have the melamine sides. The CGC ones do.

4 weeks later
#3987 4 years ago
Quoted from paynemic:

I have a friend that solved that. He tuned the voices for me. Much better. He even submitted it to PPS but got no response. But it’s awesome on my machine.

How?

#4005 4 years ago
Quoted from gliebig:

I know, but there's a setting you can adjust how many times is needed.

Heads up. When changing this it will still say you need to collect 8 on display.

#4009 4 years ago
Quoted from Rarehero:

They've always been that way. All the castle bosses are too low. Rick/CGC knows this but won't release an official update for it for some reason.

Maybe we will get one when the next batch is built. Seems like this would be an easy fix. Fingers crossed.

2) Added support for XL Display.
3) Added support for RGB LI LEDs.
4) Fixed bug preventing custom logo installation.

All the MMr's built at CGC have plywood bottoms. The one built by Stern had presswood.

Not accurate, cause I have a Stern build and it’s plywood (LE 453).

whats happening guys I have picked up a MMR LE and upgraded to the XL Screen, wow what a difference.. Question is, Cn the older MMr Le screen be used in any other games? Is there any value to the original screen, speaker panel etc? thank you for any feedback.

The only value in the old display is if someone with a classic MMr, AFMr or MBr has one that goes out.

Totally agree on upgrade! It does make a huge difference. Super glad I did it.

#8587 2 years ago

The problem is the bracket is made out of way too thin of metal. You can see this by bending it down slightly and shot is now good for a few games till it bends back. The best solution is to buy the Mantis assembly. It's made from stainless and won't bend like the factory one.

#8592 2 years ago
Quoted from Pinkitten:

Having so much fun adding mods

#8596 2 years ago
Quoted from Mrsiyufy:

Hopefully when they do another run of games they will do a few more kits too

That would be great. Definitely a snooze you lose situation for me. Was on the fence way too long.

#8601 2 years ago
Quoted from Jedi_Gill:

How hard was it to install the Mantis assembly? and can you report if that fixed the ball from bouncing out of the Merlin hole entirely or around what percentage.. Also are you using any pads to soften the hit or just straight metal from the Mantis piece..

Thanks in advance for this info.

I actually only have second hand knowledge on this from reading pinside and RGP and people having great success with this part. I have been meaning to do this for a while. Just kept forgetting. Seeing this come up again reminded me to order the part and I did just that.

I will update here when I get it installed.

Stay tuned!

I bought the Classic Edition in 2018, and added the shaker just after that. The shaker was always very mild. Then last year I upgraded the software when I installed the XL display. And the shaker was on steroids after that, even on the lowest setting. And it seems they tweaked the software because the shaker also activated during additional events.

Curious to know if anyone else had the same experience.

Yes, mine is the same way after the update. It has been mentioned before in this thread.

The demand for that machine is always high. They sell out immediately. They don't seem to care so much on making enough for everyone. They could easily keep making all of the titles constantly and have no problem selling them. I wonder if PPS or Bally/Williams tells them they can only make so many?

It's a head scratcher for sure. I'm sure dealers lists far exceed the 300 machines.

Quoted from Oneangrymo:

Man this thing is a pain in the butt to get off

I used a fairly large pry bar and got VERY lucky. I do however need to find longer screws as the ones I got dont bite enough.

#9138 2 years ago
Quoted from benime:

Screws for mounting 8" subwoofer are not long enough; kit includes 3/4" but I had to use 1".

This is very helpful info! Thanks for posting

Me? I do not. The XL dmd/sound upgrade was done before I bought it.

Thats's the original sub

#9154 2 years ago
Quoted from Richard-NBA-SF2:

but since taking the old one out is such a pain I may not try!

You *MAY* get lucky like I did and it pops out in a few chunks.

#9156 2 years ago
Quoted from Richard-NBA-SF2:

Could I buy that somewhere?

I would try contacting CGC and see if they can sell you just the sub. Explain that you got yours from another collector and he didnt use the sub. Email them a pic of your *AWESOME* CGC themed gameroom for good measure!

#9158 2 years ago
Quoted from Richard-NBA-SF2:

Haha, I just found it on Amazon (Canadian Dollars).
Might just buy there now? I see no reason why not? It is the same sub I believe?

It looks the same but you will still need the wood block part.

#9181 2 years ago
Quoted from Richard-NBA-SF2:

There is none left right now I do not believe. I got mine in May 2021. Was the last one in stock from my distributor.

They are making more in 2023 I believe!

This is correct on both counts.

Any rumor on when this run might take place?

Some time next year

#9230 1 year ago
Quoted from Richard-NBA-SF2:

Ohh, I assumed they would all be SE versions.

I have heard its going to be only SE too. As a matter of fact, I have heard the classic is done for good and wont be an option on future remakes, just like Cactus

Maybe try to clean the top of the bat with rubbing alcohol and try again.

I had a troll weld snap. I just replaced the entire assembly. Was super easy. Planetary sells the part.

Edit: I just checked and it's out of stock.

Part is:
Troll Carriage Assy A-21744

Quoted from duggum:

The parts have been ordered and hopefully the repair will be relatively painless.

Did you find the full assembly?

Mine doesn’t have the screw on the left into the playfield. Great mod/protector.

Mantis came out with the one without the screw a few years ago as the screw wasnt needed.

stock is pretty much out where I've looked

I too have searched for a topper and light kit with no luck. Kicking myself for not getting both when I ordered my XL display.

Hey all..

I'm interested in a CG Remake MM acquirement...

I understand CG is planning a 2023 production run. Does anyone have any info on this? (Price, downpayment, delivery ETA?)

Probably early in the discussion, but thought I would get ahead if possible with information on sell/sale/reserve details. Prepping to sell my Ghostbuster Premium (a HUO with great mods) to make room.

Thanks

Get on a list at a dealer ASAP.

color dmd added, which is confusing because I thought they all had color dmd’s as remakes. I wish there was a faqs page for all 6! Versions.

They do all have color LCD screens. You had to buy a chip to unlock the color and high rez dots.

Ryan from CGC said they will have more kits when the next batch of MMr are made. Who knows when is will actually be. I am still kicking myself for only getting XL screen.

I did both my CC an MM. CC was super easy. MM was harder but I got to work with the existing trim.

xl displays are just so awesome and spoil us

I totally agree. I hope that when CGC makes future original games that they will use this screen format (Pulp Fiction made sense with the alphanumeric). I much prefer the dot art and animations VS the video assets we get now on new pins.

Hello MMR owners!

I’ve been busy making a fully interactive apron for MM:
-individidually lighted castle towers
-lightning blades
-front side light blades
-I made interactive troll lighting (bottom side lighting).
-Currently: black semi gloss. Will be silver sparkle maybe.

I’m currently making 1 for me, but I may make this into a mod if there’s is sufficient interest, I can make a separate thread.

PM or post here your thoughts

This is AWESOME! Please post a video. I'd be interested if you make these.

The display appears to be upgraded to the HDXL (?) See pic of the MM logo at startup.

Thats the standard display. Do you have color in game play? If so then you have the color chip installed. The original run of MMr didnt have color changing LED.

Both toppers and the XL display should be available again at some point.

#9944 3 months ago

Yeah. For sure. It's so crazy how much money they are leaving on the table by not getting this stuff out. So many have moved on to new games at this point. What surprises me the most is the XL display. You would think with CCr still on the line they would have a bunch of these.

Just order the channels for the game itself or do I need bigger ones as suggested above?

Just bumping this one up a bit to see if anyone has tips - adding a photo. Tried a few different things since posting but can't get it to stay aligned.

Are the welds on the carriage popped? Mine broke and when it started it looked like this and then they fully gave out.
