I have a similar problem with my MBr. It's most noticeable when the shaker runs. It actually seems like the playfield glass is not as thick as it is on my other machines.

I haven't done anything about it yet, as it's not a big problem, but I do notice it.

#6252 3 years ago

Rattle tape will help. Read all 120 pages today. And it was mentioned a few time.

Quoted from Deer_Ninja:

Hi All, anyone have an issue with the metal side rails that hold the glass in vibrating loudly when the sounds fire up? I'm thinking of putting a strip of tape or something on the glass edges so my sounds is pleasant and not an ugly vibration over top of it. Any help will be appreciated. BTW, this is a NIB MMR that was just delivered today.

Yeah I have the same thing. Wanting for my cabinet to get fixed before I see I need to try to do anything to address the issue.

Yes!! My left side rail has a huge gap and is very loose. The plastic inside. Not the metal outside. Rattles so much. Thinking of putting in a ticket. Only gonna get worse!

My glass channels have made a crackling vibration sound. Haven’t really found a good solution to it but to try and shift the glass a little.

#6256 3 years ago

You can get rattle tape. Or just use electrical tape. Run it down the side edges of the glass, the entire length. Center it on the edge and fold the overlap over on the top and bottom. Feed into the glass channels. It will be tighter and it will eliminate the rattle. I’ve done it for every game that has a shaker or big bass sound, for a decade or more now.

Yes. Classic problem. Tape.

To stop the ratttle on my MMR royal I cut some plastic shims using .20 thick (1/2mm) plastic. The shims about 1/4 inch wide by 2.5 inches. I then tucked them between wood cabinet and bottom of the plastic trim. About three or four on each side. This seemed to raise the glass enough to stop the rattling.

Did the same on my AFMr but used .30 inch thick plastic. About the thickness of a credit card.

Pictures are before they are tucked under the plastic. Also used black sharpie to hide white plastic edges.

Anyone know when the Australian MMR RE’s are leaving Chicago? Apparently deposits were paid in November and full payment made in April because they were supposed to be already loaded in a container and leaving. But they haven’t left yet. Seems a bit odd.

I got a shipping confirmation the other day so I know mine is on the way, hurry up, eeek! I’m in NZ btw.

How hard was it to remove the stainless side rails to get at the plastic trim? Aren't the side rails taped down? I be worried about messing up the side art on a new game.

Hi. On mine just screws holding the side rails .

Interesting, my MMrLE and AFMrLE both have double sided tape holding the side rails on. Maybe that was part of your rattle problem.

I asked because my AFMrLE has black trim that I want to replace with green and move the black to my MMrLE but I'm too paranoid to remove the side rails.

Hi All,
MMRE # 4176 is now residing in the great white north

#6269 3 years ago
Quoted from jarozi:

We had this same question, thankfully the wire length kind of give a clue, and some of them are indeed keyed, but two had the same pinout.
Here is how we did it and it all checked out in the test menu, hope this helps...

thanks for this!

@zpinman370: Congrats!
I’ve got my Royal confirmed as well; it will be in the pad next week.
In the meantime, looking forward to seeing some pics of yours.

What brand of dolly is that you are using in the pictures? I would like to know a little more about it. Thanks and I am jealous of your new pin. Congrats!

It’s an escalera stair climbing dolly with forklift attachment. Here’s a video where i unload by myself using the pinball plate attachment(longer).

Brought the game inside and in the basement alone.

The forklift is removable. I just use the dolly part to get it in the house and downstairs. I then use the lift if I am alone to get the game up and put the legs on.

Expensive (bought it new - cost as much as my Dr Who...) but my back is bad so it’s invaluable for me.

#6276 3 years ago

I’m not seeing anything in the manual or menus to lower strength on individual coils. I need to turn down the knocker coil strength. I’m not a fan of sudden loud noises...

Is knocker strength hidden somewhere?

I’d hate to have to just disconnect it.

Page 1-10 in the manual. In the CGC menu. You can't lower them all. Only option on the knocker is unplug it.

Do you by chance have a model # you recommend? Looks like they make several different models at a variety of prices.

I am interested in knowing more! Thanks!

I use the RLA-EW. You want the one with the removeable lift (hence the R in the model). Then you choose Hand crank(RLA-HC) or electric winch(RLA-EW).

It really just depends on your needs and your budget. Finding one used would have been awesome but they don't come up much in Canada. In your case you may have better luck.

flipnoutpinball sells them on their web site. I also got an additional self-retracting strap, the big toe-plate attachement, the big wheels, and the pinball plate attachment for the lift. Once again I went all in but it really depends on your needs. I have used it for things other than pinball. I've lifted jukeboxes high so I can work on them without being bent over or lying on the ground. Moved pinballs around in the basement(on the legs - no need to remove legs or fold). Brought heavy things up and down stairs by myself. Helped friends move heavy things in-out of their house. It's really an awesome tool and with my bad back it was not really an option. Kids have moved on and out. My gf isn't able to help with heavy things. Even if pinballs eventually go the escalera will stay lol.

Call Zach Meny at flipnout pinball. He sells them and can also discount them more than online prices etc. He will also be able to help you figure out what you want. It's generally figure out how tall you want it (60", 66", 72" if I recall) and then if you want forklift attachment or not.

Here's a video I did with mine as well.

If you want a quieter knocker, put a piece of felt or something on top of the plate that the knocker hits. This will muffle the sound somewhat.

I've been wanting to make a full video also but since I'm always alone when I use it it's been impossible lol.

Well, I guess I am going to have to contact Zach and find out more. Thanks for the video. That is a good sales video. Especially with the Benny Hill music. I kept waiting for some girls to start running around in the background! I think if you redid the video with some BH girls moving the pin and you playing the part of BH it would be a classic.
