I have an LE on order, and I keep going back and forth between the standard trim and the gold trim. I kind of like the standard trim better on this title, as I think it matches the artwork better. It seems like a majority of the people are opting for the gold trim, though. I'm not sure most people even realize that you have a choice. Did any of you order it with the standard trim, and it so, why did you choose this option?

I went standard at first. Once I read on pinside today that the wireforms would be gold I called and switched to gold. I like them to match for some reason.

Gold
Add gold blades and it going to look badass.

#8 10 years ago

When the announcement was made it seemed like the majority would close standard and alot of people hated the Gold, I think the Gold will look great on MMR

#9 10 years ago

Was planning for regular, but now that it is the only diffrence for LE probably should keep gold.
If there is a chance it will discolor then changing to standard.

#10 10 years ago

Standard. Gold looks like sh$t on MM in my opinion.

But isn't that the way it originally came from the factory?

#16 10 years ago

I had a MM in gold and it looked very nice since MM has gold wire forms. There is no perfect trim but I like gold better then chrome on this title. The best fit is probably black nickel but that is hard to come by. Get the gold and if your not happy you can always take it off and go with standard.

After seeing how a few of those Addams Golds look 20 years later, and liking the clean original look,

I prefer standard.

Yes, I like the standard trim

As much as I want to say standard, I just can't bring myself to do it. I actually changed my afm from all chrome to standard because I was always wiping it down and obsessing, but the gold just looks so cool on MM that I can't resist giving it a shot. I am hoping that quality plating and home use allow it to hold up nicely.

#20 10 years ago

Hell no! Gold all the way

#21 10 years ago

Gold......it will be my only gold trim game as I don't like it that much. If I really hate it, I'll switch to BLK nickel.

#22 10 years ago

Let me put it this way- The one I used to have had standard, and so shall this one.

Does anyone have some good photos of one with gold trim? I'd love to see a comparison. I assume "gold trim" means gold side rails, hinges, lockdown bar and legs. Is this correct?

#24 10 years ago

I don't think the hinges are.

Personally, I've never seen one. But here is an Addams gold to give you an idea.

You could be right. I guess I just assumed they would be based on all my premium and LE Sterns. The hinges all match the rest of the trim. AC/DC has red hinges, Tron LE has chrome hinges, and LOTR LE has gold hinges.

Ghrome always looks terrible.

Black textured powdercoat > stainless >> chrome >> ghrome

I'm generally not a huge fan of gold, but I think it looks pretty good on my LOTR. I think Chrome looks great on some games, but just so so on others.

Gold/Brass trim fits MM well. You have to see it in person to truly appreciate.

#30 10 years ago

Gold for this fella!

#31 10 years ago

gold for me, i like the gold over the brass. i have seen a mm with gold its more of a matte finish whitch i think looks better.

#32 10 years ago

Well, I have to mail in my deposit today, and I'm still undecided. I think I prefer the look of the standard trim, but I'm concerned that it may hurt the game's resale value. Should this even be something to consider?

#33 10 years ago

Get gold, and if you don't like it, just install a standard trim and sell your "MM Limited Edition Gold Trim" for $3k.

LOL! How much more expensive is gold trim than regular trim? Would I truly be getting more for my money with the gold trim?

#36 10 years ago

I think Gold Trim fits the game better. That is why I went with Gold over standard.

It's funny how I read so many people saying "gold is ugly as sin on MM" or something similar in other threads, yet the majority seems to be choosing gold.

#38 10 years ago

I'm guessing a lot of people are choosing gold because it is perceived as an "upgrade". It also helps differentiate the LEs from the standards.

+1 Gold here

Gold it is for my order.

Gold.

Goldmember: Breaker-breaker one-niner, this is Goldie Wang. Over.
Dr. Evil: Ten-four there, Goldie Wang. This is Rubber Duckie. What's your ten-twenty? Over.
Goldmember: I've got Preparation H in my rear and Smokey the Bear on my back door. We got us a convoy. Over.
Dr. Evil: Yee-haw! Copy that, you son of a bitch, pile of monkey nuts.

+1 I like gold

#43 10 years ago

I decided to go with the normal stainless steel trim. I tried to convince myself to go with the gold, but I'm just not a huge fan of the look. I guess that will make mine a pretty rare machine, as it sounds like most of the LEs will have gold.

#44 10 years ago

Chrome on MM looks better then Gold.

I think chrome looks the best. Unfortunately, it wasn't an option.
