If your only real pinball experience is with LOTR, it's not surprising that you are finding MMr to be a bit frustrating. LOTR tends to have longer than average ball times. The rules may be deep, but keeping the ball in play is fairly easy. I say give MMr some time. Get to learn the rules and develop your flipper skills. Chances are, you will end up really liking your MMr. If you still don't like it, sell it and move on to something else.

One huge reason why it's easier to keep the ball in play on LOTR vs. other games is the shire. On most games, an out of control ball with sideways movement is very dangerous. On LOTR, these balls will often land in the shire and be safely delivered to the left flipper.
