If I ever get this Whirlwind done I might be playing it by Christmas.
Quoted from Lethal_Inc:What a joke, I played both an original and a remake just recently at the RMPS and the remake played like shit. Granted the colorDMD makes the original look awesome, but shouldn't the newer game play better. Just baffles me how they charge so much for these games and fail to deliver a quality product.
I think the same thing! wait I still suck at pinball. Never mind.
Rick just posted that he will reveal the pricing and the availability of the color update later today...

Funny... Thought these were CCG products.. Ha

So October(ish)?

Rick is probably faster than CGC for posting.
LTG : )
Quoted from TaylorVA:Not yet, we haven't been told where.
Nigeria... what does it matter? SEND MONEY NOW!
Quoted from EricHadley:Any bets? I bet $200
Everyone.... name your price now before the price comes out.
I've always thought this was going to be more than anyone anticipated, so my guess is:
$500 list price
$250 for LE owners after discount.
Eh, I cannot imaging it would be more than a whole colorDMD which is $400. I'd guess $200 and maybe a break for an LE at $100
I think at $500 they never make the money they invested in the colorization back. A sweet spot would be $200. I'm guessing $299.
Quoted from viper001:$399.95
Hadn't considered that some folks will want the specially numbered Limited Edition SD security card in gold trim, and will want to request that the number match their LE game so they will have matching serial numbers. $7995.95 is my new guess.
Seriously though, this upgraded looked awesome, you guys enjoy it!
If it's USD $250 that will be AUD $330 for me and at that price point I will be waiting...................
If it's $100 I will buy straight away
I hope CGC is better at posting the chips than they are at communicating.
I love that the comment from CGC was "...things are finalized as much as they can be.".
Finalized as much as they can be? It makes it sounds like it is final, but it isn't really done. Hmmm...
I am in for $100, maybe $150...anything over that and I will wait and see if they put it on sale later. It's just software and what I assume is a really inexpensive chip.
My guess - $200 for LE owners, $400 for Standard owners.
Finally, my hunch is nobody will see the color on their machines for a couple more months. Hopefully I am wrong about this one...
Quoted from o-din:I heard they are hoping to make it free for LE owners.
Free. Just pay $200 for shipping.

"Free" and PPS/CGC don't seem to go hand in hand.
Quoted from Mike_J:"Free" and PPS/CGC don't seem to go hand in hand.
I think it's just a sales pitch.
No chance it's any less than $200. I'm thinking it will be $250 or $300 with maybe LE owners getting it for $200.
Would you people stop telling CGC how much you'd be willing to pay for it. Cripes, they could be reading along and decide "Well shit, most of these people would pay $100 more than we were going to ask, lets do that!"

I thought the same thing. Open the door and they will pass with financial plan....
Buy one for $19.99 plus shipping of $200 and get a second free, just pay an additional $200 shipping.

$499, $399 LE owners... Because I don't have to buy it

That's no different than walking into a store and stealing something, sorry can't support that......People should get paid for their work

We thought we were paying for their work when we forked over the 8k.

I don't think colorization was even mentioned when MMr was first announced and all LE's sold out.
Quoted from Jvspin:I don't think colorization was even mentioned when MMr was first announced and all LE's sold out.
Maybe not the first day but shortly thereafter before anybody had paid in full or even a working prototype was put on display.
"DMD Animations will be original currently are monochrome - although with a simple setting you can change the 'color' of the monochrome on the LCD to a bunch of colors (8 I think?). Next up would be the colorization, which will be done and just working on the approach for the art and the timing, etc .."
Then came this-
"As we have said MANY MANY times, the colorized DMD is a software upgrade. At this time it will be an free LE upgrade to the software - likely no charge for LE owners, but we don't have the full cost yet, but that is the goal. "

Yes it was...if not at Expo '13, then very early on.

While that may justify some hard feelings against CGC / PPS, it does not justify theft of the software.

I have no intention of stealing their software. Or paying for it.
Quoted from o-din:Maybe not the first day but shortly thereafter before anybody had paid in full or even a working prototype was put on display.
Yes, but everybody originally signed up for MMr LE at $8k without mention of colorization.
Quoted from o-din:likely no charge for LE owners, but we don't have the full cost yet, but that is the goal. "
I remember reading that at the time and thinking "likely", "goal" and "don't have the full cost yet" meant it was highly unlikely it would be free when the full cost was determined.
Quoted from Jvspin:Yes, but everybody originally signed up for MMr LE at $8k without mention of colorization.
Once all the double orders and dropouts were calculated, a lot of people signed up for the LE knowing it would be colorized and thinking it would be free. It wasn't announced there would be a charge after all until all deposits were locked in.
