Hey if you got 8 large into this thing you might get the heebie jeebies too.
From a practical standpoint, unless it's just carelessness the only reason to deliberately set the games up like that is because the flippers -from a software or hardware standpoint - aren't up to snuff.
There's Williams Indy I've been playing on location which hasn't had a flipper rebuild since Crystal Skull was just a horrible idea in the back of George Lucas' mind. And the game is set up crazy shallow to compensate.
Or, it could just be they set it up sloppy and didn't bother fine-tuning the flipper strength. But it would creep people out less if that just wasn't something they had to wonder about.
