Great news for the hobby. Routed machines will go back into the public to be enjoyed

#402 10 years ago
Quoted from Moose615:

I'm really surprised noone has listed a MMR presale on eBay yet! I

If I missued out on the LEs I would just wait and buy the regulars. There will be plenty of MMs henceforth.

#403 10 years ago
Quoted from PanzerFreak:

I prerdered one so quickly but I'm now having second thoughts. For $7.5k The Hobbit in my mind shares some cool features from MM but is taken further with more toys, RGB LED lighting, is a wide body, has two more flippers, the LCD, stereo sound, deeper rules with Keith and Ted on board and more. To pay $500 more for MM is not making sense to my wallet right now.
Then again I could just get both and get a second job for a few months, lol.

Panzer snap out of it man!! Get both silly

I'm In.

#1389

Not sure if I made it in time before the 1000 sold.

I emaile Jack,

He already replied. I asked If my order was placed in time beofre the machine sells out.

He said he'd check Monday but my order "should be OK"

F-Yeah! Maybe I can pick up a HUO now someday that's actually affordable. (Really bummed I can't afford the LE right now, but just got bitch slapped with a $5k medical bill)

Quoted from Concretehardt:

Yes I was a phone order to Jen at JJP ordered at 9:55 am west coast Time got confirm email from Jen at 1:27pm west coast... Just mailed cashiers check for $1000

I was phone order to Jen at JJP, at about 1:30pm East coast time. Gave CC and contact info. Haven't gotten any notification whatsoever email or otherwise.

At 6:45pm I placed the preorder with Automated Services, $1000 charged on card and a PDF invoice in my inbox 15 minutes afterword.

Quoted from o-din:

I hope they have done away with that loud speaker pop you get in between balls on the original.

I spoke to Lyman about that back in the day and this is in the original programming... he wanted to go back and eliminate this but Wms was about to call it quits and there was problems re-doing the code. Will be interesting to see if that gets any attention.

#408 10 years ago

When you place an order on the phone with pinballsales.com do they just enter the info into their website for you and does that generate an order # or are the phone sales and sales at the expo not included in those order numbers? I got #1186 and I'm wondering if that is my place in line or just my place for web orders?

Very valid points and the 2nd job thingy gives me nightmares about all the years I did the same thing. I'm SO glad those days are over! Lemme know when your WOZ comes in and I'll show you how easy things are with the Escalara.

Haha! I would like to. Here's the funny thing. I talked to my wife about it and said we may need to sell TZ or ACDC Premium to get it. She doesn't want me to sell either one of those as she really enjoys both so she said to just buy MM and have it be a new addition to the collection. I would still need that second job for a few months, haha.

Sweet! You got her where you want her now....I did that yesterday by stopping by Abel and letting her play WOZLE! Unfortunately we were on the way to where she wanted to go (the casino). Oh well, give and take.
I got the email from Jen to send a check within 7 days. Glad to hear JJP is going that way to avoid service charges on credit cards.
By the way. It looks as if Jack has started another company to run this through (Jack Guarnieri Service Co). That is where the check gets written to. With my limited knowlege of running a business this makes sense. I'd say he has some pretty good tax advisors. Maybe he has had that company running for awhile too though so don't slam me for passing on the info to where the check gets written to. Just sayin....this whole thing is obviously separate from JJP.

Thank you for finally answering a question that I have wondered about for some time now.

Interesting as I am #1083 and I got a confirmation but I did not get an e-mail about sending in a check. Hope to hear from Jen on Monday.

It took awhile for mine to come through. I'm sure yours will be OK.

I may just have to take you up on that offer I'm in a race right now trying to finish my basement before my WOZ arrives, haha. When it does come it would be awesome to not have to manually lift that 325lb beast, haha.

#417 10 years ago
Quoted from goatdan:

I was the one saying that it shouldn't really matter, the one who you "never bought it" from and just put thumbs down instead.
My point was that while you might not be "happy" about your price going down, if you're buying it for fun you should expect it. There aren't many "fun" hobbies where you expect a 20% ROI on what you do. It was also that there is a subset of us "older" collectors who don't really care one way or another. My pins rose in value, I didn't care. I was playing them. If they drop in value, hell, I might get more.
You called me a hoarder and gave me thumbs downs. It was a nice debate.
The MM remake could very well crash the upper end of the market. And if it does... maybe I'd pick up a few A list titles. The games that I have right now don't change in their value to me.
That was my point. May I have my thumbs down now please?

Good God man, I've never seen anyone on all of Pinside so sensitive about getting thumbs down!

And for that, my good man, I will oblige you.

#418 10 years ago

I placed my order on-line with Pinball Sales (Jack's place) around 3 p.m. Central Time today.
My order number is 1292. Have not had any email or any response. All I know is that it 'took' on-line.
Here's hoping!!!

Quoted from pezpunk:

it's moronically stated. how is it no longer about playing pins if people are excited to ... buy and play a pin? sounds like sour grapes from people who don't like that their thing isn't going to be so exclusive anymore.

I don't own a MM, nor do I plan to. No sour grapes here. I would LOVE to see pin prices drop 75% or more overall. I think you would be amazed at the number of "enthusiasts" that would be instantly out of the hobby. This is about economics and accessibility... Selling out a damned pin that isn't even in production quickly just reinforces the ridiculous inflation of all pin prices (a rising tide raises all boats) which makes accessibility low and increases the barrier for new people to join this hobby.

It also puts no onus on the manufacturer to deliver a fully finished, high quality product - something that should be a given for $8000. There are volumes of posts dedicated to incomplete code and substandard quality/shortcuts in workmanship in recent pins. That is never going to change if people are quite literally running to get in line to put $1k down for a product that only exists on a slide show. That, my friend, is what lemmings do.

#420 10 years ago

hmmm... order # 1292. hope they started the #'s at 1000 :/

#421 10 years ago

I would be a buyer at $5k, still too rich for my blood.

#422 10 years ago

Hello all. New here. Placed an order at PinballSales, #1406. Highly unlikely that I got in on time.

#423 10 years ago

Here is another link for those looking to still get in on the MM Remake.

Good luck!

#424 10 years ago

Wow, so that's at least 400 attempts at ordering in about 9 hours (possibly some invoices with multiple machines too), and that's just pinballsales. To say this is selling like hot cakes is an understatement.

#425 10 years ago

So it's 1K deposit paid in a week. When is the rest of the balance due?

#426 10 years ago
Quoted from PappyBoyington:

One week prior to shipping your game.

$1,000 paid now
$7,000 paid when your game is within one week of shipping.

ETS is Q2 of 2014.

Marcus

#427 10 years ago

i heard it could be Q4 2014 for delivery.

^^ next year Q4.

#428 10 years ago

Marcus

That's for game 1. It could take a while to pump out 1000 machines. One thread quotes a Chicago Game employee at the presentation being overheard saying it would take most of the year.

#429 10 years ago
Quoted from retired_user_101:

That was for final approval to manufacture.

#430 10 years ago
Quoted from retired_user_101:

That would mean deliver in November or December, right?

If they can do that, that would be amazing. I just don't see it with the pre-buy date being 10/18/2013.

But then again, I would have lost a HUGE bet if you would have told me that MM would be re-made. I would have bet anything that MM would not have been re-made.

Glad I was wrong.

What a classic!!

Have they got some sort of mass-production mega machine?

If you are order #600 you will do well to see your machine in 2014 at all.

I'm not being negative. I'm being realistic.

We have several recent case studies we can learn from.

Or not.

#432 10 years ago

I accidentally ordered 3 so please PM me if you did not get one and we can put the spot in your name.

Amen brother, I've lived it.....it will be a victory to see it in 2014....

Has anyone with phone in orders received the send check email from Jen? She told me I was the first phone order she took and I could hear her entering my info on her keyboard but no email...
::Sigh::

Phone order here, she did not give me a reference number and no email yet.

Three different distributors and all came in?

#436 10 years ago
Quoted from heckheck:

Yea, I placed one with JJP, one with GEX, and 3 instead of 1 with another distributor. I certainly don't need 5 and I don't feel like going out of pocket $40K.

#437 10 years ago

So this could be a dumb question but when I get my MMR LE, if I put a colour DMD in it will it work with the existing colour DMD file for MM?? I don't know if it would since the Williams logo was removed from the DMD programming in the remake??

Probably, I'm going to send the check tomorrow. However, I did get confirmation on the other 4.

I think they said in the seminar that it wouldn't but that PPS would be working to provide a colorDMD-like option at some point.

I've been working the past couple of days of the country and have missed out on all this fun.

My primary question is how and where are these new machines going to be manufactured? Any insights on Plantetary's ability to make the games? Just a question to catch me up to speed.

Quoted from eggbert52:

I wonder if it makes a difference for shipping which dist you get it from, or if the drop shipment would be the same in any case. I went with JJP and hope I'm in at invoice 1182. Unfortunately I was tied up in a meeting until about 2 hours after the announcement. We'll see I guess. Maybe some will drop ahead of me, sounds like you weren't alone in putting in multiple orders.

Here you go...

Quoted from viper001:

For those that didn't want to listen to the entire video, here are some Cliff Notes highlights:
1. Could be sooner than Q2 of 2014. (Conservative estimate)
2. This is not something that was just though up of, this has been in the works for over a year.
3. The game is approved through Williams (Roger Sharpe) and Roger approves whether or not this is a game that looks and plays like an original.
4. No "W" logo will appear. The only thing that will be different is that anywhere there is a "Williams" or "W" logo will be left out.
5. Who's involved in making the game:
a. Playfield made by Churchill Cabinet Company
b. Roger Sharp
c. Attorneys
d. Chicago Gaming Company
6. Same building that produced original MM pinball will be used.
7. Built on a contract basis through Planetary Pinball.
8. "We've got a great team and this has been going on for a while."
9. Roger Sharp must give blessing before game is released.
10. Several distributors are reselling the machine.
11. Parts to be sold through Alfa (inaudible) Distributors
12. Mr. Pinball Australia customers have "options." Those options are:
a. Waiting for the existing version of the game
b. Getting a full refund for the game
c. Getting an existing version of the game through Planetary Pinball
d. Please contact Mr. Pinball Australia for options

13. There is only one small board now in the backbox (CPU?). The remainder of the redesigned boards are being mounted to the bottom of the playfield, stacked underneath where the pop bumpers are. A "divider of insulation" will be used to keep dirt and loose hardware from coming in contact with the board(s), but no mention of how they will handle vibration in that area.
14. LED lightboard PCBs will be used for controlled lights underneath the game, socketed 47 style LED used for G.I. lighting.

It's all in the threads, but short answer, games to be made by Chicago Game (basically Churchill), in the same plant that made the originals I think I heard.
