Williams, 1997Hi keep getting this error on start up. Checked the opto one on top on the board inside cabinet. It seems to be the one that is not used because I do not have an upper flipper. Is there a way to turn off? Anyhow the upper opto does not work in switch test when I swipe a credit card across it.
Also can anyone help me diagnose the problem maybe transmitter or receiver opto out?
Does not affect game play but do not want the error on startup.

You're going to end up replacing the optos. If you're really desperate to figure out if its the send or receive, swap them out with working ones, to test.
Personally, I wouldn't go through that frustration. I'd just replace the pair. I usually keep a few spare optos on hand because of things like this. They are so inexpensive, but frustrating when they go.
