Hi all

Almost done getting MM all whipped up into shape. Plays really nice, but I am having an issue. This pin may go out on route at some point, so I do have to address it.

Was playing a game a couple of days ago. I have new troll stand up targets installed, and get the occasional air ball off of them. Was one shot away from completing Royal Madness. Troll stand up, air ball, and ...what! Landed in the top of the left tower. No amount of nudging would get that ball out. Glass down, put the ball back in the shooter lane.

Was checking stuff out online, and it turns out that Williams at one point was putting two clear plastic pieces with stand offs into the goodie bags, specifically for this purpose. OPS could install if desired. Does anyone know where to get these parts? If you have some for sale, shoot me a PM.

If this goes on route, and the ball ends up where it was, my MM is going to be picked up and slammed a few times. Not cool!

Thanks in advance.

Quoted from jimjam:

you have to stop the air balls by making small braces behind to troll targets.

Agreed, will do that. But, I believe the odd air ball is unavoidable, especially with the trolls popping up. Still need those plastics if this goes out on route.

Thanks!

Quoted from robertmee:

why risk putting a $7,000+ pin on an unattended route, when sub $2,000 pin would probably earn just as well?

Valid question, but the simple answer is it won't. Not in my market anyways. I've tried having lower priced pins at the spot, and they don't get played. If you walked into my location, would you rather play Twilight Zone, or Star Trek 25th anniversary? You might play one game, and that would be it. The cash box let's me know what's being played, and how often.

I am building the go to place to play pins in my town. The players are the only ones playing, not casual folk. It's well attended, and is within 12 feet of staff (the bar). Pins were meant to be played on route, to earn $$. MM is a known good earner. Plus, this way, a lot of players get to play it, who have only played it on Xbox. Share the wealth, spread the joy.

Thanks for the info Wally! I think Kane is going to hook me up. Shipping from Jersey might be quicker!

Yah, I can find some for sure. Just wish the hardware store stocked pinball parts as well as screws!

Awesome! Thanks a ton!

And thanks to Pinside for helping out in situations like this.

Yah, total bummer when playing! But I need to do something with those troll targets. I put a ball over the castle today. Going to try adding some foam behind the target for cushion first. Will resort to more drastic measures if that does not work out.

No wonder when I got it the targets were smashed to pieces. But now with the flippers redone and the play field lightning fast, the ball can really have some momentum.

Almost fully finished. Need one switch replaced (little flaky and not always registers) and she's done!

Much thanks to Kane!

Got the acrylic pieces installed, and they work great. No more balls on top of the towers ruining games.

Just need to fix the "three balls stuck in the catapult", and I think this baby can go out and start earning. I'm really not liking the fact that I may have to bend the wire form, but from all my research this appears to be the best fix long term. Any advice here from other MM owners?

For sure man! Pints on me anytime we cross paths. Just had to grab some longer screws and double sided tape.

It's just the "3 ball in catapult" problem now. It can clear 2 balls in there, but 3 and it's hooped. Same thing happened on my visit to pinball hall of fame recently. 3 balls in catapult, call the attendant. I think I may remove the wire form gate, and see if that effects game play (bounce outs).

Thanks smassa!

Will try that and report back.

Quoted from smassa:

Remove the one way gate to the catapult if you wanna avoid multiple balls getting stuck in there.

It worked! No more stuck balls. All set to get out on location.

Now, how best to secure a pin on location, without modifying anything? i.e., I would like to avoid two guys coming in to the bar, unplugging MM and walking out with it. Any ideas pinside?

Quoted from Whysnow:

Pick the right bar

Done.

Quoted from Whysnow:

have insurance for a set amount greater than the value of the pin

In the process of getting this.

I'm more looking for a physical way of securing them. I could have all the insurance in the world, but finding a MM to replace mine will be tough! Any of my pins for that matter. We have a very limited pool to choose from in the Great White North.

MM is on location!

Got it all set up and tuned in. Played a ton the other night with buddies. Fun, fast pin for the bar.

Thanks for the help pinsiders. I have it physically secured to the two other machines. The only way you could walk out with it would be taking all 3. Good luck with you and 10 of your buddies doing that! Not to mention getting it out of the door would be impossible. Oh yeah, the bar has camera everywhere as well (was a casino in it's previous life, and still has off track betting. My guess the cameras are a requirement for the gambling portion).

Quoted from Drano:

My MM periodically gets two balls stuck in the catapult during multiball. The launcher can't always clear the two balls and the game needs to be opened up. Have you ever had this problem?

Yes, had this issue as well. I tried various options, and finally just removed the one way ball gate. Makes the catapult a little harder to complete, but it beats having that thing constantly trying to fire and burning out on location. If two/three balls go in at once now, it can clear them no problem.
