Hello,

im From holland so probaly im going to make some mistake´s in my english writing but ill try my best

i'm restoring a Bally miss america 75 and currently its running but my main isseu is that when i have credits on the register and i press the red button sometimes is take 2,3 or even 4 credits instead of one, i cant figure out where it goes wrong..

the red and white button switches are all adjusted oke and i checked the contacts on the red button relay and the start relay..

How is the stepper unit for the credit wheel? If it moves too slow, it will decrement more than one game. I’ve seen them decrement from 15 to 0 when the stepper movement is not crisp or the pawl is slow.

You probably need to clean the stepper unit.

Welcome to Pinside. I think the Replay Reset Register solenoid is what subtracts credits from the four digit credit counter. Is that right? If so you might try blocking (with bits of paper) switches in the two main circuits that drive that solenoid, like the cam switches in the red boxes. If blocking one of those switches results in the expected single credit subtraction that might help narrow in on the problem.

Also, does the number of credits subtracted match the number of games added to the Total Play Meter? If not there might be a mechanical issue with the credit counter rather than an electrical issue.

@ mark

Sorry i wasnt clear enough, my fault

Credits are on the register.
Red button is pressed.
Credit is subtract from the register.
Machine makes his cycle and ads features en scores.
And then without pressing the red button the cycle starts again. (Like the red button is stuck of pressed again)
1 credit goes off and feature's are added.
Sometimes 3 or 4 times in a row

9 out of 10 time it's oke and the machine substract one cedit and does one cycle.

"So something jams or activate's the start or red button relay.."<-- thats how far my thinking is going but i cant figure out whats triggering the next cycle without pressing the red button.

Have you observed whether the Red Button relay stays active longer when the problem happens? I think once the Red Button is pressed to activate the Red Button relay, the relay should stay active until the cam switch in the red box opens.

If the Red Button relay stays active longer than it should it might be because that switch isn't opening reliably.

I checked, the circuit on your picture works as is it has to.

So if the red relay circuit is oke what can trigger the start relay?
I cant find a path though schematic's that could pulse the start relay other than through the red button.sw (5-f).

I figured out that the start relay is the one who stays energised as the next cycle starts.
Whyyyyy?????
Got the whole old machine up and running from the terrible state i got it in, now im stuck on "one little simple last thing" so fustrating but also really rewarding when i got it fixed haha

I think this is the Start relay lock in circuit. You might check the cam #3 switch to see if it opens reliably.

If you haven't already you might want to read through this site:

and in particular this section:

It was written by someone who understands these much better than I do.
