    Quoted from Warzard:

MPF has been the best thing which happen to pinball ever and was the source of help for all the homebrews.

Before there was MPF there was PyPROCGame and the people from Multimorphic (and those of use who use it) helping others with their projects; like this TOTAN rewrite. The PyPROCGame framework was written specifically to help people get a running start on a homebrew/rewrite long before any other board set or framework existed. When FAST came along, certain members of the PyPROCGame community wanted to add support for those boards to PyPROCGame and they were asked to not do that because the framework was built specifically to support the PROC -- so they forked the framework at that point and started MPF. When it started, it was very similar to PyPROCGame, but after Brian left and others took over it has evolved into a very different thing, and that's fine.

This particular project was a PROC project. Driven by PROC hardware and consulted on by several people from the PROC community when Noitbe1 was getting started. If you read his project thread from the beginning it's very PROC centric and proud to be so. But to make it commercial he was told it *had* to run on FAST so all that went out the window.
