I've held off posting but feel it's time based on his cocky attitude at TPF. micro had the audacity to continually jump into the threads that I created a while back when we were working on both the reproduction playfields and plastics for joust. we (jim smith and myself) had secured a license with PPS and prior to the playfields getting the green light ended up contracting with kevin @ CPR to help us produce the plastics (there was a big issue with a local printer that I won't go into).

fast forward to a few years back at the chicago expo where mirco was proudly showing off playfields & plastics for both joust and banzai run (even though CPR had already negotiated deals). the conversation started cordial enough, but mirco's arrogance reared its head almost immediately and he continued jumping into my pinside threads trying to promote his product. this was where I had had enough so I replied that his artwork was a muddy mess and that he had numerous errors on his playfield. his response was that I owed him a detailed list of these so-called errors immediately. I replied, but immediately deleted my post instead of continuing to engage in a mud-slinging match.

truly, he's still just a small child playing in a sandbox that his parents built and own and does not understand have a concept of professionalism. according to murphy's law, it will come back and bite him in the ass one day. I'll bet a lot of people would pay to be there when it happens.

I still love the time when he told me that [I had to] inform him of all of the errors on his joust playfields.

Quoted from pinballizfun:

That isn't pooling. Of course, what people here call pooling isn't pooling either, but that's just plastic and wood moving at different rates. You're better off with it breaking cleanly over the transition than having the clear so thick that it stay together and ghosts the insert. That will quickly break off. The clean break you have will be fine forever in home use as long as the inserts stay level.

if I recall, a big portion of the issues with mirco's playfields were that the insert holes didn't have the step/ledge inside of them for the insert to bottom out. without that ledge, the insert is free to fall [into] the playfield, below the surface after the screening and clearcoat, which is causing what you see in your images.

Quoted from transprtr4u:

Some people complained about raised inserts on GF...

the one on route that I played last week had raised insert plastics on at least 10+ of the inserts. paint chipping was already occurring.

Quoted from cottonm4:

That's why I am here bitching about it. I have asked him several times and offered to pay for the shipping.

are there any other pinsiders that reside in germany (close to mirco) that could help you reclaim your playfield?

Quoted from koji:

Curious also how washers impact play.. It seems like there would be a tiny loss in rigidity of the post, and a slight raise off the PF, so the ball potentially hits the rubber lower. Presume pretty negligible, but might be interesting to do some experiments.

I hear that this can be corrected on a mirco playfield where the soft washers are used by using a playfield protector to negate the additional height of the washers for the pinballs

rumor has it that the playfield protector also protects the rest of the playfield from the substandard clear

Quoted from MiniPinHead:

Just someone who wants to see the Dragonfist Mirco playfield happen and wants it to be better than original I've seen the original and it had errors from the screen printing, albeit very subtle ones. When the Mirco reproduction happens, it'll be awesome.

or get ready to be disappointed. mirco has no sense of pride in producing a stellar product, just getting something to the finish line (and in some cases) prior to another vendor that has worked out the rights for a game. if he can't get original screens from rick @ PPS, he scans and pays for cheap labor in india to knock out the playfield as fast as he can.

Quoted from Rum-Z:

Is there any chance you're naming this endeavor "Some Kids In My Brother's Driveway"?

nice homage to "he who's back shall forever be photographed at pinball auctions"
SKIM BD kind of has a nice ring to it

at this point, the only actions are:
- stand in solidarity and boycott any and all of mirco's products
- anyone that happens to attend a show where mirco is displaying his wares, kindly remind him that he owes cottonm4 his original, playfield back

edit:
removed reference to the playfield being NOS

Quoted from cottonm4:

I also agree with you about the sanded inserts. I wish they were not sanded, but they are.

the sanding of the inserts has to occur. it is a bi-product of running the playfield through a drum sander after the inserts have been glued into the playfield to ensure that the top of the playfield is smooth (and no inserts are sitting [proud] prior to screen or direct printing the artwork onto the playfields.

Quoted from Bryan_Kelly:

But it is shipping today. Just got notice.
At least a packing slip has been made up.

what's the "over/under" for the number of days between shipping label generated and actually shipped? I'll go with 3

#2655 44 days ago
Quoted from Bryan_Kelly:

LOL Sorry. You lose. It's already at FedEx.
Takes maybe 5 days to get here.

but how do you know that he didn't just ship you a cat, or a hair net or a sock?
