Who has all the mini pins? I'm curious which ones are best for pinball collectors from a fun-to-play and ROI perspective. I know they are all fairly low production and rare but they seem to sell for cheap money these days.

I count 5 games. Am I missing any?

Nudge-it
Bullseye
Mario mushroom world
Bell ringer
punchy the clown

Nudge-It here.. I enjoy playing it - great way to work on proper nudging and such.

#3 8 years ago

The only one I ever played was Punchy the Clown at LV PHoF.... didn't like it at all.....

#4 8 years ago

I've played Mario mushroom world at a Lake George NY arcade and thought it was pretty darn fun!

#5 7 years ago

I'm surprised at the scarcity of these. I understand that well... a lot of them sucked, but they are convenient little machines, and Super Mario Bros. Mushroom World is a lot of fun! I'd love to pick up one of these little guys.

#6 7 years ago

I own a Punchy. Love it.

Quoted from pinaholic:

Do you know anyone in NY that has ANY mini pin they're looking to sell? They're such great little things. The Punchy sorta scares me I don't think I'd be able to play it more than once!

#8 7 years ago

I now have all but the bullseye. For adult pinballers, I think the punchy and mario are more fun and entertaining simply because they have flippers. Bell Ringer and Nudge-it have no flippers.

Instead of just handing out candy for halloween this year, I put out bell ringer and each kid had to play 1 ball to see how many pieces of candy they got. 1, 4, 8 or 20 pieces. The kids and adults loved it. I went through 10 lbs of candy and ended up giving out quarters toward the end of the night. It was fun.

Buddy has a nudge it. Interesting piece, but its not much fun to play.

Super Mario Bros Mushroom World is surprisingly fun. Wouldn't mind finding one of those or a punchy to add to my lineup. Not sure why safe cracker didn't make the list though?

#10 7 years ago

Safecracker is still a full-size pin. It's just narrow.. Super Mario Bros. Mushroom World is a VERY fun game. I played one out on location in California earlier this year, and it's on my short list.

Pun intended.

Still smaller.

Has anyone played the viper mini pin? Last I heard it was in a private collection in europe.

I have. I like the regular VND more, although I *LOVE* VND, so that might not be saying much...

If you look at my review of it on IPDB though, I never updated it, and it was back before I discovered the joy of the real game.

It wasn't bad, although I got a bit bored of it from what I remember because I earned like four extra balls. The rules of it I remember being VERY basic.

I have a SMBMW to add to that part of the conversation...

Punchy and Mushroom World. Also have wired playfield for Nudge It, backglass for Bell Ringer.

Played or owned?
With Nudge-It's so scarce, how'd you wind up with just a playfield?

#15 7 years ago

I have an NOS Nudge-It playfield. It will be cleared and installed into my game.. eventually. They're out there..!

#16 7 years ago

I got a project mushroom world and project bell ringer. Bell ringer isn't that fun for our family, but the nice thing is it uses system 3 hardware.

I have both Nudge-it an Bell Ringer both complete an working
also have a parted out bell Ringer with no boards for parts.

I have a Prototype mini pin. Bell Games Italy.
I'd like to get it added to Pinside database.

Made to promote World Cup in Germany in 1994? Not sure.

"Sorta"?

#26 3 years ago

Well I say sorta because it was uncertain how it was gonna work out. But I got it and all is well!
A Namco Arcade bought this NIB. There’s even some of the cardboard and plastic still stapled to it!
It’s got all of the paperwork and everything.
The arcade was a franchisee that just recently closed, and I bought it from EC Amusements that cleared out their inventory. They had just picked it up on Monday, and I got it on Tuesday. A box truck was there unloading some of the huge sit down games as I arrived.

Obviously they’ve never changed the ball or done anything to this game. They just let it sit and earn.
The Mars light on top sounds horrible and barely spins. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Ah, nice! What number is yours?

There are replacements - at the moment I don't remember the manufacturer or part number - you MAY be able to call PBR and see if they (1) Have any, and if not, (2) Can check the development documents to see if it's listed.
Barring that's it should be just a gearbox and motor - but would require taking it apart.

If you get bored some day - please take your "STOP" button apart, and scan the "STOP" part! Mine, and another here near me, has the missing 'STOP' insert, and it'd be nice to recreate it.

Number 39! I registered it on the IPSND.

Apparently there is some sort of weird black rubber on the axle that spins the mars light. Mine is basically melted. I took it apart and it spins freely but it doesn’t make good contact with the light disc to spin it so it just sorta squeals.

It’s a friction based spinner. The motor spins the axle and the axle has a rubber grommet against the plastic dish that the light is attached too. Kinda simple. I’ll call Steve at PBR and see what he suggests.

I’ve also run into the problem, I put rubbers on my posts and now the ball gets stuck between them! What the hell? This must be why the pulled them all off.
I’ll probably need lots of reference pics because there is a lot of rotted rubbers missing. Also I don’t have the keys for the ticket dispenser! I really don’t want to have to drill the lock out. Any suggestions?

Shoot me a PM! I have to take my stop button apart anyway because the light is burnt out.
I’d love to compare some different areas because they seem absolutely bizarre to me!

The full replacement is Wolo 3110-R - https://www.amazon.com/Wolo-3110-R-Rotating-Emergency-Warning/dp/B000BNH0UE but it sounds like you just need the drive belt, 31257 at pbr.

I see, so this uses a drive belt! Makes sense mine is nonexistent, a black gooey mess on the drive motor is all that remains!
I’ll clean it off and order the replacement part from PBR. Thanks!

Honestly, after seeing that there are replacemtns in blue and yellow? I may just order one of those for my game - the yellow and blue would match a WHOLE lot better. My red (OEM) works, but it'd be nice to have one that matches the game more. Heh. With Bell Ringer's red matching that better too, it'd be interesting haveing two color beacons.

Thanks. My game had neither. The instruction card even matches Game #2, which IMHO is the best one out of the three. Interesting that it's *larger* than the plastic, though. Seriously, it looks like an afterthought in the design process.

Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:

For coyote here’s a picture of my stop bracket.

Thanks! So it looks like two of the holes on my field are original, and the other mangled ones were some kind of hack then.

Having owned one, we have very different ideas of fun. I really wanted to part it out. Sure its rare, but that poor wpc95 boardset didn't deserve to be stuck inside that horrible horrible game.

Punchy was at least kinda fun, but ticket tac toe made me want to bludgeon it with every game.

Those post rubbers have different diameters. You must have used ones that were too fat. Just buy the smallest ones you can find. Marco will have them. The light is always LOUD but needs to spin so fix that asap.
Just drill the lock if you think you need to get into the ticket dispenser. Locks are like $4 on ebay. My thinking is why would you need to get in there anyway? You're not giving tickets away are you? Just leave it.

Super boring game that you'll likely be done with in a few weeks. It's not even fun for kids. sorry.

Those oversized paddle buttons are a pain. They feel delicate and you have to pry on them pretty hard. I dunno if I still have pics of mine.

I think you guys may be thinking too much on this -
First, though, are you meaning how to remove it from the wood panel, OR, remove the INSERT button from the plastic black mounting?

For the former: Unpop the micro-switch from the top tab holding it, rotate the switch outwards, and then pop off the other plastic pip holding it. Then unscrew the black plastic nut, and the switch will come out the top of the wood panel.

For the latter: You will notice on the bottom of the switch - where the microswitch is mounted, two white or clear-plastic tabs. Squeeze those IN to unhook them, and push them up the center of the body - then you can grab the top of the button (where it says 'STOP') and pull it out. There will be a spring in there - don't lose it.

That’s easy, I’m fairly certain it just pops together, just bend it to the side till it pops out, and then pull it straight out. It feels like it’s gonna break, it’s just a pressure fit

Those plastic tabs are 30 years old and are pretty brittle at this point. They make me nervous, if you press too hard and break them, you’re out of luck!

Mine aren't stiff at all - and in case you DO break them, these buttons are STILL very, very readily available.
