102 ? Nib games in 2019. Can that be beaten, or a new type of record be set....

That would be neat, but Christopher and I worked our ass off to do our part, along with a couple great friends. If we are doing that many again, Ill have to get more help. Its just so much work setting up all the games that we did. IF CGC lets us do show games again, ill be on board, especially if the new title is allowed

You guys were VIPs of the show for sure! Hopefully if you can / are willing to do it again, we can drum up a few extra helpers from the community. I'm sure someone will step up!

Putting the WTB out there early..... looking for cheap project Space Shuttle, Zaccaria gen1/gen2, and/or sci-fi themed early Bally/Stern games, for pickup at MGC.

Whoa, I totally missed this thread until *right now!* A few quick things...

    Quoted from chad:

Can we make it 3 consecutive years with snow?

Easter is moving the event around. We couldn't move back a week due to other commitments, so the only option was to move forward. Or we could have moved literally months away, which didn't seem like a great option. It's not perfect, but we knew this in 2017 before we had the first show.

    Quoted from Jediturtle:

Now there are 8am Friday morning options? Dan truly is trying to kill us...

We've been asked for a number of years to find some additional time for table top RPGs in particular as their play sessions come in 4 hour chunks. Due to how our timing worked out, the best anyone who is looking for that type of gaming at the show was four sessions. To better accommodate this, we are expanding the show floor to an additional space that can host Friday morning hours. This space is actually all but definitely off-site at the Hilton, so it won't affect the "standard" move-in of other events, but will better be able to fit the more specific timing schedules that those types of games take. Friday morning also gives people who want to try a game like that a great chance to do so without them having to use essentially half of a day of the show to try it out. Cost for Friday morning this year is only $10, and we are going to supplement it with some tabletop and collectible card games as best as possible too

Lots more fun to come. Been working on a lot of stuff behind the scenes

    Dan;

Did you guys send out an e-mail blast yet for vendor registration?

    -Hans

    #28 6 months ago

Dan, I had to google "midwest gaming classic gamer quest" to find the section on the web site that showed this as I could not find it going to the main web page. I see that they are registering game hosts so I assume that players will be able to register for these games. Will this be added when we get closer to the show dates?

    #29 6 months ago
    Quoted from HHaase:

Yes, although we just had someone else tell us theirs didn't make it through. Contact Gary directly, and he can take care of that

If you look at the top part of the page, immediately after the title is a big link in the slider to Gamer Quest. It will start appearing in other places, we don't currently have up as much info because we're putting the final touches on the Game Host stuff right now, and we expect we'll be starting to promote it further.

And yes, there will be options for signing up in advance that should be rolled out, probably in December or January, for games

OK. Took last year off (Had to - didn't want to.) after going the prior three years. About time to order tickets for 2020.
Looking at the site it looks to be more or less the same as before. If you're into pinball only:

    -Bring a machine.
-Buy a ticket to Tom Taylor's.
-Buy a ticket to the Friday night VIG session. (Called Friday Preview now?)
-Machine good for Sat/Sun show tickets.
-Machine good for entry into Saturday night afterparty.
-Machine no good for Sunday hangover.

This seem like a good plan of attack / not going to miss things?

    #35 5 months ago

    Great plan!

    #36 5 months ago

Just booked my room. Actually staying Friday also this year.

So if you're bringing a game, can you still just purchase VIG alone? All I see on the site is the option to purchase a $175 package for Fri/Sat/Sun.

    #37 5 months ago

I'm covered - I think...? Tentatively a party of four.

    -Hotel booked.
-4 Friday preview night tickets purchased.
-Bringing 4 machines, including Undertale of course, which should grant Saturday/Sunday admission for four.

Might not make it to everything in the show but that should pretty much cover a weekend of fun.
When we're closer to show day, I'll see what other people are bringing and decide what's missing. Night Moves likely coming with us.

Never mind! Found it under Admission. I do have a question though. What does Friday Preview actually give me access to?

In years past - it's essentially an additional evening of playing pinball, but not nearly as crowded as during the day on Saturday and Sunday. Not quite as exclusive as the afterparty, but it's still noticeably less packed.

Someone correct me if I'm misremembering, but I believe the Clock Chaos (RESERVE YOUR SPOT HILTON WILL NOT MAKE AN EXCEPTION) and pin golf tournaments are held Friday night as well.

Edit - I mean that in a good way about the tournaments, by the way. You wanna play? - register early. Hilton has run a tight ship in years past.

Cannot wait for MGC . Will be bringing a game and a comfy pair or shoes. That concrete floor just hurts after 7 -8 hours of walking.

I can help Thursday night , could most likely take off Friday and help then also , text me .

I'm a bit gun-shy this year to be honest. 500 miles each way in a blizzard is no fun, let me say.

Bring 2 pairs. That's what I do and it is well worth it

Does anyone know the height restrictions at the parking garages at the 2 hotels? I need 6 foot 9 inch clearance. Both hotels front desk didn't know and transferred me to extensions that didn't answer on 2 different days.

There is an open air lot in front of the hilton, but is quite expensive during events.

I just looked at the Google Maps street level view for the Hilton parking garage. Looks like 7'0". You could check the other local hotels if you don't want to stay at the Hilton. That was just the first one I checked.
