There hasn't been an official announcement but a few of us have been working on a Silent Auction to be held during the After Party at MGC. Our goal is to raise money to improve on the After Party, and with your help we can do that. If you have a relationship with a vendor that could donate their product or a gift certificate for their product, ping them and see what they can do. Don't be worried that we might have pinged them already. The more visibility vendors have to the auction, the better chance we have at getting more donations.

The After Party was designed to give back to the many volunteers and contributors that bring their games to MGC to share with others. Without them, MGC would not be the great show that it is. If you are a company selling product for pinball enthusiasts, if you sell pinball mods on the side, or if you know a guy that knows a guy that works for one of those companies, give a shout out for the silent auction. We can use all the help we can get.

The Silent Auction is the least expensive way to get your products, and your company out in front of the 10,000+ people that attend MGC. You don't have to be a big company to contribute. Every contribution helps.

    MIDWEST GAMING CLASSIC SILENT AUCTION

    ------------------------------------------------------------

WHAT: Midwest Gaming Classic - Silent Auction
    WHEN: Saturday April 10th
WHERE: After Party - Gaming Hall
    TIME: 9pm to 11pm

    DETAILS:
The Midwest gaming Classic (MGC) would like to request your support. The MGC has become one of the premiere annual pinball events in the nation, and this year will be held on April 9th and 10th in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The success of the arcade portion of the show is due to the generosity of the many volunteers that bring high quality arcade video and pinball machines to the event for attendees to play and enjoy.

As a thank you to the collectors who bring their machines to share, event organizers host an “after party” on Saturday night. This party is the highlight of the show for many machine owners, and we would like to make the party even better with your help!

We are looking for donations for a silent auction to be held Saturday night during the after party. The money raised from this auction will be used to directly improve the after party every year. In return, you will have valuable exposure to the most active pinball enthusiasts in the Midwest by associating your company and products with the goodwill this event generates.

Our goal is to gather donations of arcade video and pinball related items valued at $50 or more to be auctioned during the after party. In return, we will display your company's name and gift on the silent auction page of the MGC website in advance of the event. Each item will also be prominently recognized on the bid sheets, as well as at the conclusion of the auction. We will showcase goods or services of greater value in additional ways.

We hope you will partner with us by donating an item or service. If you are interested in participating, please fill out the enclosed “Auction Donation” sheet and return it to me as soon as possible. A volunteer will reach out and coordinate with you to deliver your items in advance of the auction.

    Hi Steve

Stop in when you can and I'll give you something special for the auction.

Wonder if mt Bryan Kelly woudl be interested in donating? I know he is pretty bummed to not be in attendance this year.

That sucks. Bryan has been an important part of MGC for a long time.

    This is awesome. Thank you!

    #7 8 years ago

I'm on the committee with Steve in assisting with arrangements on this. We've got some Arcade vendors that I've contacted, and a few have committed. Rich at This Old Game is sending me a care package with some goodies, as well as Todd at Big Daddy Enterprises. I also have a $100 gift certificate from Adam Courchesne at Onecircuit.com for a Priority Nintendo pcb repair. Cool stuff!

    #8 8 years ago

SmallTown - OneCircuit info has been added to the first post. Thank you! I'll add the others when we have more info.

LTG - Thank you for supporting the auction! I'll stop by tomorrow. If you need a ride to MGC, let me know and I'll pick you up.

    #9 8 years ago

    Looking forward to this.

    #10 8 years ago

Sorry I can't go, but glad I was able to provide a few Ecto 1 Cars...have fun!

    #11 8 years ago

This is a GREAT idea; I'm so stoked for this.

There are definitely a number of things on the list I might have bought anyway, but now knowing that my funds go back into making next year's party even more grand..

Big ups to all the people and companies donating items for this. Where's that "Fry shut up and take my money" meme when you need it..

    #12 8 years ago

Hello everyone. The link with my 100$ gift certificate is just my photobucket of a bunch of stuff thru the years, some is pf work, but my contact is [email protected]. I clear my emails every morning, so if you have any questions about the certificate, or what I do to playfields, feel free. Also I am available for any playfield questions or advice, I find myself happily becomming a pf advocate.
I am really happy to be a part of this event, although I can not attend until i finally get a new vehicle. I am sure by next year I will be able to attend.

I will be donating a Run-DMD clock ($400 value) to the silent auction. the clock is larger format size (using the dual colored HUB08 panels) which is great for hanging on the wall where your games reside

I will also have some of the new stern-sized run-dmd kits available for sale at my booth. please stop by and say 'hi'

here are some pics of the item up for auction for those of you that haven't seen one before. the clock measures approx. 31"(w) x 15" (t)

Is the silent auction only available to those attending the after-party? If you're looking to raise maximum funds for the after-party it may make sense to run it during the day on Saturday.

I agree that having some things open to non-party goers is a good idea to raise max funds. Could also give a small % increase advantage to after party people as a thanks to them and additional incentive to bring a game.

i.e. Bring a game and any bid at the silent auction is valued at bid plus 15%. In other words if a non-game person bids $110 and I bid $100 as a game bringger then I woudl win the auciton since my offer is counted as $115.

    #18 8 years ago

Appreciate the ideas. The auction committee will be taking notes and discuss improvements for 2017. As with any effort for the show, volunteer time is limited and valuable. For 2016, the Silent Auction will take place during the After Party.

I could always donate an evening with Bryan Kelly, but you'd be bored to death! Wouldn't cost you much, though, I'm sure.

This is a cool idea to help out Dan. I take it the funds are going to help offset the cost of the after party or is there something else in the works?

shut up you old bastard, this party has nothing to do with you now. Just because you took your ball and are staying home dont mean you get any say in this.

Can you tell that im a little salty that you wont be there. Twice a yaer at a minimum i get to fuck with you and then you pull the stunt of not showing up to one of them. I hope that this is the best show/after party ever just so i can rub it in to you

    Quoted from Bryan_Kelly:

It's like a three fold thing...

First, it's to introduce and give the people that brought games a bit of a bonus to get some additional things for those games. I agree with the people who said maximum funds could be had running it during the day too, and we may change this for 2017, but we want to see how it goes this year as an additional reward.

Secondly, the after party is expensive to do. Terry at Pinball Life every year has made a generous contribution to make it happen, but out of pocket is still... let's just say a lot. We don't mind paying for it, but we were asked about ways that we could step up the after party and get, for instance, better food and stuff like that. This helps that.

Finally, we are creating awards to give to game bringers beyond what we have done in the past. If your game is set up and playable at 5pm on Sunday night, you will get a certificate and exclusive event shirt that you cannot get otherwise.

If after the show is over, it turns out that the auction raises more money than is used to throw the after party, we will use the money to further improve the after party next year. Due to the generous contributions of all of the vendors as well as the hard work of the volunteers to collect these materials, this is turning into something WAY more incredible than I originally envisioned, so who knows what the future may bring?

Thanks again to everyone, and we'll have a version of this up on our web site hopefully tonight. The last few days have been insanely busy for us, but all in a good way!

High End Pins is in with a $500 Gift Certificate for Restoration Labor
J_M_ is in with a RunDMD Clock
PinballPimp is in with Gift Certificate for One Free Set of Cabinet Stencils

Something I thought would be fitting for this endeavor. Probably the only new 2X Pinball On A Stick bowling shirt left in existence. Has "The Dude" monogrammed on the front.

The Pinball Madness/Pinball On A Stick people have always been strong supporters of Midwest Gaming Classic. And I thought this would be a fitting contribution to the after party.

Just got off the phone with James at PinballBulbs. They are sending items for the auction I'm excited about sharing. Will post them up shortly.

Mark at Chicago Street Pinball Arcade contacted me yesterday with donations that are also super cool. I hope we have regulars coming to the show from Chicago because they will love these auction items.

Thank you Lloyd for the Pinball on a Stick bowling shirt. Everybody loves the Minnesota State Fair AND Pinball AND The Dude from The Big Labowski. That shirt should get great response in the auction.

    #30 8 years ago

Details for PinballBulbs donation received. Hope we have Metallica fans at the After Party. They have donated a Metallica Pro Ultimate LED Kit, a Metallica LED Speaker Light Kit and a Metallica TruColor Plastic Set.

Matt from Back Alley Creations is donating to the auction as well. They have donated a The Walking Dead Train Tracks with Bloody RxR Sign Mod and an ACDC Train Tracks with Hwy 66 & RxR Sign Mod.

I will get the first post updated with info shortly...

    Quoted from smalltownguy2:

I'm blown away at the amount of stuff we have for this. Really great auction we've got going here!

I'm constantly blown away by the generosity that so many collectors have to share and do so much to make this show happen. This show shouldn't exist but there are so many people who work together to make it what it is. I was hoping for like 10 items, and the guys who took this on have exceeded my wildest dreams. Amazing!

Seriously, thank all of you for making this happen. For as crazy as I feel right now (heating a 24k tent when it is going to be like 34 out is not the most fun proposal, but we're getting it done!) without people like the guys who took up the challenge and the vendors who donated stuff, I would have never bothered.

I'm excited to see what we all do this year!

    #33 8 years ago

What methods of payment will be accepted if I manage to win any of these items?

    #34 8 years ago

rumor has it that goatdan will take a personal check, but only if it's wrapped around a stack of cash money

Ok, one final addition to the auction, and it's BIG!

Andrew from APB Enterprises has donated two coil packages, one for Williams and one for Stern. Jesse from PinCades has donated a framed Star Wars Episode 1 Pinball Poster.

And the final big splash for the auction, Zombie Yeti has donated some artist proofs and silkscreen foils for Alice in Wonderland.

I'm curious what the end tally was for funds raised for the After Party and what thoughts are on having this again next year.
I thought it was awesome and hope it comes around again next year.

I picked up the ModMyPin GLO-Balls. They are F'n RAD! They play super fast but IMO have more control and are closer to the feel of steel balls than the TZ Powerball or Viper Night Driving glow balls.

Huge thanks to all who helped put this together!

i think I won the BangerJay / Trilogy shirt, the night was a blur so I am unsure at this point. I still have some clothes to wash so maybe it's in that pile?

The auction was great and I thought it really added to the festivities, not to mention making some money for the party next year. My only complaint is it led to me worrying more about winning stuff than playing pinball! LOL

I ended up with an artist proof of the Alice artwork (not the translite, the other one) and the train track mod for my new TWD, both for an absolute steal!

I definitely hope to see the auction return next year, and a huge thank you to those who donated, as well as those who coordinated and ran the auction. Great stuff!

    Thanks,
    Chris

It raised about $3k in total, which is insane! We added the 5pm Sunday shirts this year due to the money expected to be raised, and we intend to add some stuff next year. As to what, honestly, I'm still in that super sleepy can barely think mode (doesn't help the 1 year old stayed up all night yesterday) so I'm hoping to start thinking about that soon...
