This just went out to our email list... In case you're not on it, here you go. If you did not get the email and are planning to bring a game, please register with us so we have a better idea what's coming (see below).

    Thanks!

Hello from the 2019 Midwest Gaming Classic arcade hall!

It's hard to believe that we are already just one month out from this years show. It has been a crazy year for yours truly and I apologize that this is the first official email you've gotten from us. Normally I would try and reach out just after the New Year to start getting you guys thinking and excited about the show. So, while it didn't happen this year we'll strive to do a better job of keeping you guys in the loop earlier next year.

Let me start off by saying a sincere THANK YOU to all of you who came out and supported the show last year. The move to the Wisconsin Center in downtown Milwaukee was exciting and scary all at the same time. The first year at a new venue is always a challenge. As many of you are aware, last year was no exception. We got a double whammy last year with mother nature dumping snow all day on Sunday plus the Center putting unexpected requirements on us during load-out. While we can't control mother nature, we do have some pull on the other. We had a plan in place for load-out that we believe would have worked. But, at the last minute the center changed how it was supposed to work and created a hassle for everyone. We sincerely apologize for any frustrations and delays it might have cost you guys. We worked with the Center during the "off-season" and have agreement on how load-out will work this year. So, the issues of last year shouldn't happen again. In addition, we will have a group of professional movers available to assist you with loading your machines (if you wish for more help) once the show closes on Sunday. Thank you for your patience while we worked this stuff out.

If you are planning to bring machine(s) this year and have not yet let us know, please reply to this email with what you're planning on bringing. You may also go to this website and fill out the form in the middle of the page. THANK YOU!
    https://www.midwestgamingclassic.com/bring-machines/

We've got some cool new benefits this year as a way of saying thank you for lugging your games to the show. For each game you bring, you'll receive a commerative keychain that designates that the machine was an official MGC show game. In addition, each person who brings at least one machine will receive special, exclusive MGC shirt made just for you. We hope you like what we've come up with!

Instructions for bringing your games is copied below. This can also be found on the website linked above. Please note that the times the dock is open this year HAS changed. Please see the timing below. Also, as a reminder, if a game is removed from the show floor prior to Sunday afternoon, you will forfeit any unused benefits.

Please let me know if you have any questions! See you soon!
    Keith

    BRINGING YOUR GAME(S)
Following these step-by-step instructions to bring a game or games to the show! between 10am and 10pm on Friday, April 12th or between 8am-9:30am on Saturday, April 13th.

    1. Upon arrival at the Wisconsin Center, you (the game bringer) will sign in and be directed to the gameroom hall ramp.
    2. Once parked near the gameroom hall ramp, unload your game with MGC arcade hall personnel in specified “set up” location. To ensure a fast moving drop off procedure, you will not be setting up your game at this time. Instead, we will give you a “set up” pass to return to set it up after you park your car.
    3. Move your car from the loading dock, park it and come back to the gameroom with your set up pass from the usual, “guest” side of the show. Note: If you expect to have a trailer, please use the contact form below so we can help ensure it has a place to go at the show. Trailers may be directed to off site parking.
    4. Set up your game where the MGC arcade hall personnel directs you too.
    5. Register your game to get your “welcome” packet including machine rewards, and enjoy the show! If setting up Friday, we would suggest looking into either visiting Tom Taylor’s Open House or taking part in our Friday Night Preview events. Note, due to their extremely limited nature, neither of these are part of our regular rewards.

Game removal times are expected to be Saturday, April 13th from 7pm-8pm or Sunday from 3:30pm-11pm. Game removal at other times may be accommodated by the Wisconsin Center by paying a $50 “dock fee” to get the personnel open docks at that time. This is per-vehicle feee.

    1. Pack up your machine and move it our “prepped for removal” area in the back of the game hall.
    2. MGC move out staff will give you a gameroom pick up pass. You will need this pass to return to the loading dock, so please keep it with you.
    3. Retrieve your vehicle and come to the Wisconsin Center loading dock with your pass to get access.
    4. MGC move out staff will check for a pass and direct you up the load out ramp. At the top of the ramp, MGC move out staff will further direct you where to go.
    5. Once you are parked, you may get your machine and start to load it. MGC move out staff will check your ownership information, and is available to help you load your machine into your vehicle if you wish! Additionally, we will have hand trucks available to help move games.
    6. Once loaded, drive down the exit ramp and leave the Wisconsin Center knowing that awesome you and your awesome game(s) brought happiness to more than 10,000 gamers for the weekend… WOW!

    Quoted from f3honda4me:

I bought a game through the MGC show special so I have to take it home sunday. Do I need to bring my own dolly, shrink wrap to wrap the head to the body, etc? Or is that kind of stuff provided at MGC? Sorry this is my first pinball show.

We will have dollies and people who can help. Usually, everyone has their own shrink wrap, padding, etc as everyone likes to do this to different levels/extremes. But everyone is usually very helpful and willing to share if you ask nicely.

No sorry , my Paragon will not be for sale.

    Yea, that's a pretty game...

    Quoted from trilogybeer:

The Paragon I currently own is not as nice as the ones I have had in the past (plays good though) but I plan on making it the nicest one I have ever had . This year it’ll be like a before restoration expirience of this one and maybe I could bring it back after restoration ( next year ?)

Oh that's right. I forgot you had swapped them out over the years...

    Quoted from FatPanda:

They were around 800-1000 when i entered the hobby a couple years ago. I wish I was in the hobby "back in the day"

If you got a JD for 800-1000 a couple years ago you got a heck of a deal (or it was a beater). Nice score. They haven't been going at that price for almost 15 years.

In case you didn't pre-register, these are the details that went out to those that did...

    *******************************************
The 2019 Midwest Gaming Classic is rapidly approaching. We continue to work hard to make the show a great experience for everyone.

For those that weren't able to join us last year, this is a reminder that last year the show MOVED from the Sheraton Hotel in Brookfield to the Wisconsin Center convention facility in downtown Milwaukee. For those that attended last year, the arcade hall and console museum was in Hall C and the vendor hall was Hall D. This year, the arcade and museum have once again expanded in size and will occupy Hall B AND Hall C. This has presented some challenges for our power grid and dictated needing to expand the system (Doc Oc) again this year. The vendors are in Hall A. There is a wedding show that is using Hall D this year. I've attached a graphic showing the dock and exhibit hall of the Wisconsin Center. Please note the orientation of the picture.

There is a bunch of details below. Let me know if you have further questions and we'll see later this week!
    Keith
    *******************************************

Setup hours are Friday April 12th from 10am-10pm. The dock will re-open from 8am-9:30am on Saturday morning if you aren't able to setup on Friday. If you need to setup Saturday morning, please plan to be there no later than 9am as the hall opens to the public at 10.

If you're not able to setup during these times, there is an opportunity to drop off your game on Thursday night but we would need to know that in advance. Please email me if this is something you need to do so we can plan for you.

    BRINGING YOUR GAME(S)
Following these step-by-step instructions to bring a game or games to the show!

    1. Upon arrival at the Wisconsin Center, you (the game bringer) will sign your vehicle in at the dock gate and be directed to the gameroom hall ramp.
    2. Once parked near the gameroom hall ramp, unload your game with MGC arcade hall personnel in specified “set up” location. To ensure a fast moving drop off procedure, you will not be setting up your game at this time. Instead, we will give you a “set up” pass to return to set it up after you park your car.

    ********************************************

    * Power: Unless specifically instructed to do so by arcade hall staff, ONLY use power from the Doc Oc power system. Plugging directly into the convention center power will cost the show additional money that is not planned or budgeted for. If you have any questions regarding this policy, find someone from the arcade hall staff.

    * Carry-in policy: Unfortunately, the Wisconsin center does not allow food or beverages to be carried in. This includes the after party. The convention center will have concessions available for purchase including beer and a cash bar. For the after party, the show will be providng food and purchasing a certain amount of beer. The exact details are still being worked out, but it will likely be allocated by each game getting a number of drink tickets.

    * After-party: The after-party will work similarly to previous years. When the show closes at 8pm on Saturday evening, we will ask everyone to leave the hall while we prepare for the after-party. At approximately 8:45 or 9, we will allow re-entry to those with after-party passes. The after-party will close at 3am.

    * Games: All full-size pinball, arcade and caberet style games will qualify for benefits including weekend admission, show cash, and after-party tickets. Cocktail games (including red tentss) will be allowed but will NOT qualify for any benefits of any kind. We will continue to evaluate the possibilities of allowing cocktail machines in future years as we gain a better understanding of the venue. Bar top games will not be allowed (except for vendors who may have them in their booths) as we don't believe we have a way to display them this year.

    * VIG: Reminder, the Friday night VIG even is not part of the free weekend admission. Once again this year, a small portion of the arcade hall will be open for those with VIG tickets. But, as in previous years, the majority of the hall will be open for setup only.

    * Early removal fee: As in previous years, there will be an early removal fee for games that are sold and leave the show floor prior to 11am on Saturday morning. Basically, once you setup your game in the hall, you cannot take your game out of service nor remove it from the hall prior to 11am on Saturday unless you pay a $100 penalty. The MGC does not charge a sales commission on games sold during the show nor do we intend to change that. Also, please note that this fee does NOT include any fees that might be imposed to open the dock during off-hours ($50 per vehicle fee - see additional setup info below).

    * Grounding and game safety: Once again this year, we will be checking for safety ground connections on all games. If a machine was designed to have a grounded lug on the power cord connected to the metal on the game, that must be intact and functional. If that is not the case, you're machine will not be allowed on the floor of the arcade hall. We will try to have cords and personnel available to assist you with repairs if necessary for a fee, but we cannot guarantee availability. So, please check your power cords for ground connections as you shop and prepare your games for the show.

A really good article on game safety was written by Matthew Sell of the Seattle collectors group. There's a ton of good information there and I encourage you to read it. I've attached a copy of the file here:
