My wife bought me a Midway Flying Carpet rifle game last week. I have been working on and off this week and have most of it working. I will get a few of the left over bugs out when the schematic comes in.

My question is about the tape unit for sound playback. I am not sure if it is missing anything or not because I have never seen one. I do know it will produce sound, I have rubbed my finger across the heads to test this but not sure about the tape, how it should be wound, if it’s missing some reels or ????

I am thinking about making a multi-point sound card that will trigger 5 different sounds needed and one sound card to play background music for the duration of the game. I am looking for any of the original sound clips. Also any help on info or links to people who have tried this.

    Thanks,

    Keith

I will post some pics soon.

The machine is all there and have most of it working but the sound.

I am going to order some parts this weekend after a little more research and I should be able to make a sound board. I am not sure what the original sound are so I will find some sound clips and save them to the sound board. I plan on leaving all the original sound equipment and find a location for the new board, amp and speaker.

The kids love it so far and it should be way better with sound.

    Thanks,

    Keith

Thank you for posting a picture of the tape unit. I did not know if I was missing anything or not. Mine looks just like the picture. I can get sounds out of the heads if I rub them with my finger so I think the amp is good its just the tape will not pull across the heads. I was going to take it apart and check for belts slipping, just have not done it yet. I have found all the parts I need to make a new solid state sound board with a 7w amp. I just need to get a hold of the original sound clips to copy to my new board.

My son would love to have that built in step on ours. Very cool!

    Thanks,

    Keith
