Do any of the modern pins (year2000 & up) do this mode ?
I've only heard of this , never played .
Great topic!
Congo was the only one I was aware of that had this feature. It was rumored to be in the new Predator pin at one point but I am not sure if that made it into the final code. Perhaps the playing it at midnight at expo can let us all know!!!
I think it is awesome to have a timed based feature and bonus. Really cool actually. I always thought Stern should put that feature into Tron . . . it just seemed like something that would be cool to have.
Freaked me out on my Who dunnit when it popped up. Never heard of it before. Had to look it up after it happened. It was cool as shit!
Metallica midnight madness would rock!!
I think things like this should be programmed in new
games ..

Yep, that would actually fit in with the theme exceedingly well. That may actually be the most suitable Stern for it. They say Stern has people who read Pinside . . . let's hope one of them opens this thread and starts to implement this idea.
Actually, WOZ for JJP would be a reasonably good theme for a midnight madness as well in my view.

Hmm, is that the first game with a timed event? Certainly pre-dates all the others by a good bit.
I timed event on Funhouse would be even more creepy. Ha!
Midnight Madness only exists on pins below 2000:
•Congo
•Dirty Harry
•Johnny Mnemonic
•Junk Yard
•NBA Fastbreak
•Who Dunnit
I have not seen it on any pins post WMS '99.
This was one of WMS signatures, so don't expect to see it on a Stern.
It would be another neat feature to add to CCC.

I can see Stern implementing it, probably at 2:30am
I freaked out one night on junk yard and the game went nuts I didn't know what was going on I have not been back ... is there a way to make this happen more often

Adjust the timer to make it think it is midnight more often!

I'm pretty sure TOM has one too.
Quoted from Pimp77:I'm pretty sure TOM has one too.
Yes and no. Midnight Madness on TOM is a normal mode.
Midnight Madness, on the other pins I mentioned, *only* occurs when the game is played at midnight.
Does Stern have any easter eggs? I enjoy the random cows in Indy 500 and wish Stern could come up with some fun things.

The programmers would probably put cool stuff in there if Gary gave them more time to actually finish the code.

I could not agree more. I can not recall any Stern easter eggs and it seems so simple to insert some . . . surely those designers have some in mind? Predator is supposedly packed to the gills with easter eggs...hopefully the other manufacturers follow suit.
Quoted from haiderdj:Cactus Canyon Continued has one....
Ooohhhhhh! I did not know that!!!
That code just keeps getting better!

A lot of Sterns have the GAME flipper code sequence, LOTR has bash Gary, TSPP has the rec.games.pinball/RGP reference.

You've had some nice games come and go there Magic_Mike.
Was in Atlanta GA last year (nice place) having lunch at the CNN building.
Ah yes,Taco Bell - the best take away in the states!!
"Theatre of Magic does not have this Midnight Madness special mode. Midnight Madness is the name of a regular mode in the game that can be started on every game"
Midnight Madness is another reason why Williams/Bally machines were the best. They just put a little bit more into their machines. The first time it happened to me, playing my NBA Fastbreak, I thought the software was freaking out. I didn't know Funhouse had it, so when it happened to me for the first time, I just went with it and enjoyed it rather than worrying about faulty software.
Wish Midnight Madness was more prevalent.
Cool vid! It looks like the midnight madness modes are all identical? I got mine last night in JM for the first time and it did the same stuff with the "batman tv" bams and powies.
Interesting thing, I was playing around 11:15pm, thinking, gee, I'm close to midnight madness, but I'll be upstairs with the family to watch the ball drop....and then a few minutes later -early!- midnight madness begins! And I'm pretty sure my machine clock is accurate.
