does not sound like anything is decided and they are asking for opinions on this due to constraints of future dates at other options for location...

    #18 6 years ago

I would LOVE if MGC could be at a bigger and more modern space.

My request is like others that we have attached/onsite hotel rooms to any covention center, easy load in/out, and a lax enough staff to allow the after party to continue as it always has.

Offsite hotel is not a complete deal breaker but it needs to be VERY close if offsite. People need to be able to easily and quickly grab a nap/beer/food/ etc... between games.

    #20 6 years ago
    Quoted from Methos:

I'm thinking walking distance. Anything further than that and it becomes a negative.

short drunken walking distance is probably the better measuring stick

    #27 6 years ago
    Quoted from cavalier88z24:

quick hotel search around miller park
    bestwestern .8 miles
    ambassador inn/hotel 1.6 miles
potawatomi bingo and casino 1.8 miles

    all too far unfortunately

    #28 6 years ago
    Quoted from goatdan:

No polls needed. We're truthfully decided, we just need to finalize some details and then inform the necessary people to finish the contracts.
Completely honestly here, without me playing games I think are funny but may be the only one who does, we are way far down the road already. We're truly negotiating for 2020 right now as part of this all. It's so complex, and I honestly just want it over with one way or another.

when can we expect an announcement?

    #41 6 years ago
    Quoted from goatdan:

I was just rereading what I wrote (seriously, I'm a bit surprised no on is reading into my cryptic post yet...) and I realized my phone autocorrected me funny.
There are a million details, not retailers. If I ran a show with a million retailers, that would be one hell of a show.

I am glad you are joking around as it means you must be happy with the change in venue.

I frankly have zero idea what you are cryptically saying in your messages and just want to know where it will be and ensure i get a hotel room. Reality is,this is my favorite show and Ill be there to support no matter where it is, but i like it how it is already so it will be hard to get better.

    #43 6 years ago
    Quoted from goatdan:

There may be no venue change. I could just be nervously awaiting when our official sponsorship of a local professional sports team will be announced.
    I'm hoping for tomorrow.

Well i can't support that so I am out.

Go cubs Go (despite the sweep)

    #58 6 years ago

might as well getting something out of the tax dollars we spend on these stupid pro teams...

    #63 6 years ago

I agree. Homebrew section needs to happen.

It is the only reason I even make the trip to Expo anymore.

    #67 6 years ago
    Quoted from epthegeek:

    Then don't go this year.

is there no game builders section at expo this year????

    #79 6 years ago
    Quoted from goatdan:

    Hotel preview?

tell them to bust out the vacuum

    #113 6 years ago
    Quoted from HHaase:

Either way, you just keep doing what you're doing. I'm along for the ride, regardless of the result.
And at the rate I'm going with designing new product I MAY just have a new thing in time for that 2019 show.
But it's going to be close.
    -Hans

I hope it does nto take that long to get me my LED board for Andromeda

    #120 6 years ago
    Quoted from goatdan:

There is a new Hampton Inn there, they have car chargers for electric cars there.

so the real criteria for the new place has been unvieled

    #122 6 years ago
    Quoted from goatdan:

I need to sell some pinball machines

message me what you are selling. You like oddball crap like me

    #155 6 years ago

Completely missed the banzaii in 2015...

Anyone remember whom brought it? Please bring it this year

    #238 6 years ago
    Quoted from goatdan:

Whatever we reveal tomorrow, before anyone freaks out, ask me your questions and I'll either answer them or tell you what we are doing to answer them. I think you'll all end up very happy, but any change can be hard to accept.
I truly believe the show will function better for almost everyone. There is one or two specific people that will be affected in particular ways that we are still trying to work out for them. Everyone else, i think we're at least equal to what we've done before!

    all I want to know...

    Is there onsite lodging?

    #249 6 years ago
    Quoted from goatdan:

I keep debating how to answer this. I guess it depends on how one defines "onsite" and how one defines "lodging".

can I walk from my hotel room to the game room without going outside?

    #285 6 years ago

I personally am hoping for 2 things:

    1. Either in downtown Madison or Milwaukee (I know Madison is out, so I guess MKE is my wish) Reality is that brookfield while nice for ease of getting to was kind of lame outside of the homeliness of the venue familiarity. Would be cool to be in downtown MKE and able to uber to food for a break or take a mid day walk over to the lake or something cool. I mean afterall as a game bringger I dont spend much time in the actual show at mid day when it is crazy, so I would liek to have something easy to do for a fun break.

    2. MORE SPACE! Lets face it, MGC has been out of room for at least 3 years and it is time for us to blow this thing up. Expo is dying slowly and the midwest needs a premier show. If we have the space then the challenge is fun again to fill it! I think with the right venue the local community could make MGC into a TPF sized show of epicness.

    #293 6 years ago

    he gets bigger...

    #296 6 years ago
    Quoted from cavalier88z24:

its tommrow!!!!! i should be the first to know. i have to change the title to this tread.

have you not figured it out yet?

    #299 6 years ago

probably about 2.32 times his original size.

    #303 6 years ago
    Quoted from goatdan:

If you think of how much space his sprite takes up, not how his body may appear...

dude, you need to get back to work.

You have been eating WAy too many mushrooms with this year off

    #305 6 years ago
    Quoted from KingPinGames:

as mario his sprite is 13 x 16
as super mario his sprite is 32 x 16
he is more than doubling his size.

my guess was not too far off.

so 2.46 bigger! wow. Kingpin, how many semis are you hauling in?

    #306 6 years ago

Jay > we should have room for Olympics...

    #329 6 years ago

    room reserved and PUMPED!!!!

    This place is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, just what we need for MGC to go to the next level.

Does this mean I get more room for Clock Chaos on Friday? Ryan S is going to co-direct this year so things will be even smoother and we could probably make some tweaks to make it more fun!

    #331 6 years ago
    Quoted from s1500:

I'm gonna shoot for the Hyatt. After reading Pinside, I don't want to stay in a hotel called "Hilton". Just..no.

    nice!

I am going to put in a special request in for my room to be adjoining with yours

    #337 6 years ago
    Quoted from goatdan:

I don't know, I'll probably stick you in the lobby. Would that be enough space?

    um, WOW!!!!

This year is going to be EPIC on so many levels!

    #345 6 years ago
    Quoted from goatdan:

Yes, although if you remember the arcade game party with shuttle bus thing I mentioned? You'll be able to go to the Garcade for a limited after party (on a shuttle bus!) if you so choose!

that is a really cool alternative for those that are not able to bring games.

Reality is that with this much space, I hope some folks that previously found it unfeasible will figure out a way to make it work. I can honestly say that supporting a local show is one of the most gratifying aspects of the hobby for me and the real after party is by far the best perk in pinball.

If the regional community steps up the MGC is going to really be phenomenal this year!

    #375 6 years ago
    Quoted from lpeters82:

Well I'm going all in this year. I added on Friday night and purchased VIG tickets.

    awesome!

    bringing a game also?

    #379 6 years ago
    Quoted from Borygard:

MGC beats Expo in most every way conceivable, except maybe on industry insiders being present.

I expect that will change this year. MGC has always had a few, but being even bigger surely means more insiders.

    #403 6 years ago
    Quoted from trilogybeer:

Well then let's start with , who's bringing what?
I am bringing Total Nuclear Annihilation .

I am bringing Total Nuclear Annihilation!

Can we link them up to play head to head by then?

    #415 6 years ago
    Quoted from s1500:

And I didn't drop mentioning it as my father worked for Amtrak. I once took Amtrak from MSP to Chicago to see women's roller derby finals, and it was truly nostalgic since I didn't ride Amtrak in almost 30 years. Tons of leg room, and the conductor will even tell you of upcoming smoke break opportunities at stops.
It's morning from MSP to Milwaukee, and evening the way back, so can walk 2 blocks after MGC closes to the train station. Tempting...

would be worth it if you could bring a game on a dolly, lol

    #439 6 years ago
    Quoted from DanQverymuch:

Oh, okay, I figured you had the license thing covered. Would have hated to hear a "D'oh!" from 90 miles south.
And the tournament works well being free, and I sure don't mind the big guns skipping it over the trophy-only reward!

with MGC not paying the $1 to IFPA I am guessing we will have some super fun tournaments and even less concern over big guns coming in. It will be for fun like it should be

    #452 6 years ago

    Why would anyone book monday?

Am I missing something? Fri and sat are the main nights to book a room

    #519 6 years ago

Toms place is a flat out amazing experience!

I wish I could go but since I am busy setting up chaos games I never get to. I suggest everyone to go see it.

Is it possible for you guys to publish a list of the potential games that folks are bringing? I know a lot of it can and may be subject to change, but I'd be curious if you guys are tracking and can share. My use case for this: I intend to bring at least 1 machine with me. I'd like to prioritize something that isn't already represented.

looks like it is time to start and ChrisS is off in OZland so he cant start it

Why wont Jersey Jack ever come to MGC?

He has been there multiple times. Pretty sure he said he was coming this year when i saw him this weekend???

    1 week later
    #829 6 years ago
    Quoted from lordloss:

Hope its free after party passes for the vendors.

Multiple other after parties to attend this year if you are not a game bringer. Dan has been clear that the after partyfor those that bring games will remain as the after party for those that actually bring games.

#1 way to hurt the show would be to remove that incentive for bringing games.

    #833 6 years ago
    Quoted from Goonie:

No wait, that's probably not it.

    nope, that is definitely it!

    #837 6 years ago
    Quoted from lordloss:

I understand, just like poking the after party bear. Someday the video game fad will die down a bit and the vendors will decrease. I.hope at some point everyone realizes how many people vendors help attract to the show.

maybe they should offer vendors some sort of after party ticket to the vendor only area?

That would be the equivalent, wouldn't it?

    #839 6 years ago
    Quoted from lordloss:

Lets be fair, you guys take the band that all the vendors hate and we'll relinquish any rights to the after party.

sorry, sounds like we get stuck with multiple air hockey tables this year. Would happily take a band over that crap

I am curious how the bands will work this year in the new space???

    #841 6 years ago
    Quoted from goatdan:

There is nothing stopping a vendor from also bringing a game and going to the after party.

    amen!

    #844 6 years ago
    Quoted from goatdan:

Multiple vendors who want to do both have chosen this. It's not as easy to do, and I get that, but it's also actually easier to bring a bunch of GOAT Store than it is to bring a machine.

I will likely have 4-5 games there so a vendor unwilling to bring a game is not going to get much sympathy from me. The show is business for them and I help bring in potential customers by bringing games to the show that bring in people

    #849 6 years ago

sounds like they have created the option to buy a space in the love it area?

    #851 6 years ago
    Quoted from ChrisS:

    #857 6 years ago
    Quoted from goatdan:

please do! I think the show will be better without him at this stage

    #884 6 years ago
    Quoted from LTG:

What a great day. I just found out Chicago Gaming Company is sending me to Midwest Gaming Classic.

    about damn time!

Glad to have you finally coming back LTG!

    #896 6 years ago
    Quoted from goatdan:

You guys are not realizing how large this room is I think.

I worked at a Chuck E Cheese with an air hockey table for many years. You couldn't hear it unless you were really close to it.

I can hear it over everything and it is like nails on a chalk board. Gonna need eye protection also with flying pucks. Maybe it is just me but I despise those stupid things.

    #901 6 years ago
    Quoted from goatdan:

If they are, we'll rethink next year.

I will give it a chance and trust you. If I get hit with a puck flying off a table, I am gonna shove it in a special place for you

    #961 6 years ago

    #963 6 years ago
    Quoted from NoQuarters:

? Looks like 9 am posted on the website for Vendor hall on Saturday for advance purchased tickets ?

bring a game and then you dont have to worry about the 30min as you will get plenty of play time on Sat night

    #982 6 years ago
    Quoted from Fortytwo:

Jack sent an email out yesterday. Still on the fence if he will be at MGC. Or may have a paid gig.

We just need Jared to show up so we can cal it EPIC

Going to be amazing! I don't think I have been this excited since my very first year.

    #990 6 years ago
    Quoted from goatdan:

He said he is coming on Facebook.

    officially EPIC!

    #1006 6 years ago

For those participating in Clock Chaos this year, we will be utilizing Karl DeAngelo's awesome software.

    https://www.neverdrains.com/mgc2018

This link should be live now if you want to set a favorite in your mobile.
Scores will start to show up as they are entered on Friday.

Looking forward to seeing yo all there!

    #1010 6 years ago
    Quoted from PinZig:

    That reminds me...
I have 2 extra spots for clock chaos that won't be used if anyone is interested.

Chaos is completely locked down at this stage so no spots can be transferred.

If you are looking to sell your VIG spot I am pretty sure that is transferrable, but Dan would need to help you with that.

    #1018 6 years ago
    Quoted from Jared:

    I will be there.

    Officially epic!

    #1024 6 years ago
    Quoted from BlueIrocGuy:

Was a date/time for the lockdown posted on the registration page? If not, it would be great to have that listed for future years so people know of the deadline. I just found the registration link on my purchase email.

    Quoted from epthegeek:

Serious question - what's the problem with having a new player step in for one that can't make it for Chaos? I can't wrap my head around why that's an issue.

Chaos has a limited number of spots and has been sold out for quite a while (a month ago?).

All prework and setup was completed last weekend at that point it is considered locked down (when Dan/Gary emailed me the list of players and times then it is all set and locked down).

Given the nature of the event (90+ players getting through 5 games in a matter of ~6 hours), it runs on a tight timeline with limited # of volunteers helping to run it. People understandably want to try and squeeze in if they see a break in play or people dont show up for a registered slot. Due to an issue with unclear (outdated) rules on the website last year and 1 particular player situation last year, the rules were adjusted and are clear this year. There are no substitutions for anyone that is unable or does not show up at their pre-register position. All slots are full and any players not showing up results in a break for those that have volunteered their time to run the event. There was ample time to sign up for Chaos when VIG tickets went on sale and if that changes int he future then I am sure adjustments will be made. Chaos itself has always been a limited registration event and for the past few years is an option for a limited # of VIG attendees to sign up for as spots allow.

The only additional players not in the list provided by Dan/Gary are those that provide games for Chaos and the limited set of Arcade hall voulenteers which traditionally play in before the registered players start at 3pm and only if time allows (i.e. games are set up with enough time for them to play in). This is a perk provided to the Arcade hall guys and people that have offered a game for Chaos use. This has been standard since Chaos was started and is a nice perk for those that voulenteer their time to make the show run.

    #1025 6 years ago
    Quoted from Slim64:

I completely forgot to sign up for clock chaos, hopefully pingolf is still open.

pin golf is not limited from what I know?

Since you are providing a game for Chaos, you are all set to play through at 2pm (assuming games are all set up and ready by then)

    #1027 6 years ago
    Quoted from Jediturtle:

I appreciate you still making the room for us if time allows. Forgot to ask this year, and if it doesn't work out that's no problem either. Hard to say what kind of craziness we will be dealing with at that time! I'm equal parts excited and terrified!

I have the same feeling as you, but more excited and I already know we will all make it work out. That is just what we all do

Gonna be a blast and will be over before we even realize it, so suck it all in!

    #1029 6 years ago
    Quoted from Jediturtle:

sure thing. Aiming for 2pm for helpers to play through so plan on that.

If you are one of the main arcade hall staff on Friday with all the load in activities then you are accounted for (I am not sure whom all is part of that list as not all care to play in chaos). Traditionally it is Chris, Tom, Eric, and sometimes one or 2 others that are the main organized group. That is dealt with via Tully/Keith so you will want to coordinate to help them on Friday and then you will be taken care of ***assuming time and games cooperate. That crew does a ton and for years now it was an accepted perk.

    #1034 6 years ago
    Quoted from animesuperj:

Just put on a fake mustache and say your name is whoever's spot you want to take. Problem solved.

If Ken assembles a cosplay good enough to pass for Dr. Graf then I would have no choice but to let him play. Granted if Tom shows up with a mustache then I will be unable to let him play and all the little kids will run away

    #1039 6 years ago
    Quoted from metallik:

Where does one obtain Clock Chaos PIN and player number? I signed up when I bought tickets but forget the exact timeslots I picked... thanks!
edit: found my timeslot by re-following the email link... will number and pin be provided at the event?
Also, to whysnow (since it looks like you're running the tournament) - Patrick Green will unfortunately probably not make it due to work commitments. Not 100% sure but unlikely he makes it.
If he can't show, I'll have an extra VIG and Tom party ticket available for sale/trade come tomorrow.

hit up Gryszzz. He is looking for a VIG pass

For chaos. Just show up a few min before your time slot and tell the person checking in your name.

We are using the never drains tourney software this year so all electronic score entry and monitoring if you need to be back for playoffs at 9pm.

If the policy against drinks in the arcade hall applies to all drinks and not just alcoholic ones, in order to keep liquids away from expensive games, I'm down with that.
However, if security allows people to bring in their water, pop and coffee as I have seen in prior years (and then proceed to set them on top of someone's game), then I will be drinking "coffee" all day Saturday.

I don't remember our time slots for the VIG Friday tournament and that doesn't show up on our ticket receipts. Can't find it in any emails. Is there a way to check that so that we don't accidentally miss our time slot?

best I can do at this moment

    Quoted from lpeters82:

I'm almost certain it was listed that the Clock Chaos started early. That was the reason I didn't enquirer more about it, I knew I wouldn't have been able to make it in time. Having said that, for future years is it possible to request a later time slot?

Yes, when you sign up for VIG you can select a timeslot between 3-9pm (assuming that time slot is still available).

We run 5 people every 20 min through 5 games. Starts at 3pm, Ends at 9. Top 12 qualifiers are invited back to replay a single game at 9p to change their fate by possibly bettering a single game.

This year is a return to the roots of the event format since no IFPA constraint for trying to max the wppr value. I really enjoy the format of this event and the fact that everyone walks up cold to the games helps to level the skill a bit. Get hot on a game or 2 and you make make the top 12. Every year a few casuals make it back and that is fun for me to see.

    Ake the hell up!

    It is show day!

Weather don't mean a thing. This new place is amazaballs!

    Quoted from trilogybeer:

Scott updated my TNA Saturday morning with the latest code he is working on . 472 plays this weekend after the update .

add about 150 more from Friday chaos and games before that code was updated.

Fireball racked up 813 plays on the meter! Amazing that the old girl held up so well That custom pingulp really brought it all together.

    #1200 6 years ago
    Quoted from pinnyheadhead:

Sound like it is you guys fault on the high plays of your pins for bringing butt kicker pins to the show. 813?!
Looked like a great show. Folks were fortunate to have you and others so involved. Hope everyone got and gets home safe and sound.

    It was an amazing show!

Fireball games can often last 30 sec, lol so I was not surprised to see over 800 clicks. I will be sure to check Iron Maiden when it gets set up on route today.

    #1206 6 years ago
    Quoted from MikeS:

I second what Mark said. Those guys busted their butt all weekend and helped make the show awesome! thank you!

it is insane what these guys all do to make the show happen and much of it happens without issue and nobody even knows all the stuff they deal with!

If Dan makes even a small profit then it should go to that crew!!!

    Quoted from lpeters82:

If possible that would be cool. In my opinion the Saturday party lighting was perfect.

It was perfect for the saturday afterparty, but PLease not for normal day time show.

I view it as a nice ambiance difference but dark all day would be crummy imo. I like to see games and people when playing. Old arcade dimly lit is fun for the party and kind of a perk.

Biggest thing I think really needs addressed is better security for the afterparty. Everyone and their brother seemed to be at the after party and lots of guys that did not bring games were still at the party. Next year with even more space to fill, we will need more games. i honestly saw very little incentive to bring games when everyone else is already getting in for the one main perk w/o even putting forth the effort.

    #1235 6 years ago
    Quoted from Jazman:

Well, I was keeping an eye out for wristbands and I only saw one person without one wandering around and told him he had to go which he did. Remember that it was an arcade hall and console museum combined after-party. I personally don't know all the console guys.

Bunches without wristbands combined with lanyards handed out like candy from the vendor hall were all in the afterparty, all drinking and eating the food. Security only looked for a lanyard or if you acted like you belonged.

I won't name specific people publicly (they know whom they are) but the big thing I saw were multiple locals that own multiple games and they did not bring a single game but were in the afterparty. I stopped counting at 10 people.

Troy and Kingpin were not giving out extras so those people were getting them from somewhere.

All i am saying is that this year brought many more constraints, costs, and work for all those that bring games and the perk of the afterparty is pretty moot when you see bunches of people without wrist bands and that you know did not bring games in there. If the show wants to incentivize game bringing then this needs to get locked down somehow and ensure the perk remains a perk.

a certain person named Greg came around

ok, I gotta know... What is the deal with Greg?

    Quoted from HamsterHerder:

Maybe next year a vendor should bring extra glass to sell at the show.

Next year I plan to bring a bunch of pipe insulation pieces to use for glass when you are going to set it on the ground.

    #1260 6 years ago
    Quoted from epthegeek:

TODOs for next year's arcade hall:
    - Rubber cups for the front legs on the pins
    - pool noodles from the dollar store with a slot cut for PF glass
    - Research alternate escape route via freight elevator out to wells on the ground floor for people with only 1 or 2 games to load.
The one suggestion I'd have for the overall show: BIG free standing signs in the area near the ticketing/hall entrances that says something about the stuff on the second floor, and then bigger directional signs once you're on the second floor. The "Community Zone" little blue signs on the wall with arrows didn't really stand out.

The biggest issue I saw on the dock is we needed actual MGC people in charge of the gate at the entrance. The crazy lady was only letting up 2 at a time and people able to walk down the dock with a single game or 2 should have been allowed up to park diagonal along the wall and then walk the game to the car (granted snow did not make this fun).

Other issue is nobody should be allowed to go get their vehicle until ALL their games are in the staging area. Saw lots of people with games still out on the floor they had to go get and still bring to staging even though they were a;ready parked the dock. A strict rule about this would help I think

I took all 4 of my games to the staging area and got the mini van to load 3. After seeing how bad the dock line was I elected to walk the 4th game down the ramp and 1/4 mile to where my other car was located to load it.

    Quoted from goatdan:

Next year, we will probably also have a small fee for pulling early on Sunday.

Make it $100 bucks to pull before 4pm on Sunday.

People getting the perk of the after party pass should have a reasonable fee associated with pulling early.
The show depends on games to be there for the whole show so seems appropriate to
#1 lock down the after party to make sure the perk remains a perk
#2 make sure anyone getting that perk clearly knows the requirements and is provided the incentive to keep games there for the duration of the show.

    Quoted from goatdan:

If you'd like to chat about it instead of just going off what you feel, I'd be happy to explain it to you. The after party gave out near the same number of badges and wristbands as last year, not some crazy amount.

I would be happy to chat about it. I am not going off what I feel but rather what I saw. I walked through the hall during after party and stopped counting when I got to 10 people without the needed credentials in the hall. There were also plenty of locals that got in but did not have a game at the show. If this was supposed to be enforced it was done so very poorly and understandable given the lax security guard and limited security for the total number of people in the show. My honest feedback is that security can be stepped up to make this a better perk.

I also think that with the arrangement of show cash or wristbands it really should be locked down as one OR the other.

People with multiple games should have to elect to get either:
1 Sat wristband, 1 sunday wristband, and 1 after party wristband
    OR
    $20 show cash

Bringing multiple games allowed people to currently get 1 after party pass for each game plus do the show cash. That is a double benefit and if you want to get more games there (not sure if you do) then my honest feedback is to work on this aspect of the show.

    Quoted from Jazman:

Writing this one down for our post-show discussions... Tying the after-party ticket to the weekend admission...

Thanks and much appreciated. While I know people like Troy and KP were not selling any after party passes (love that about you guys BTW) others were.
Other idea is to somehow make the afterparty passes much more visible. Long sleeve and a dark bracelet is easy to hide that you dont have one or forge (yeah more of that happened this year but by then I was over it and did not feel like dealing with the BS).

    Quoted from epthegeek:

If you're talking about people like Paul and Dave - they got bands from someone who brought enough games to have extra.

I have no issue with people that bring a game getting the afterparty bracelet and doing what they want with it. Just think there should be a clearer limit and stipulation on games/removal. Limiting the bands or making those game bringers choose would help influence others that are just looking for a free ride into the show to maybe get involved or actually bring a game and help the show grow.

I see no reason that the after party band is not tied to the show bands. You get bracelets OR cash, not both.
I also think there should be a steep penalty for early game removal for the health of the show on Sunday. I understand weather made it tough, but the main perk of bringing a game = after party fun. Once Saturday afterparty is done then people have cashed in on their part of the perk and should have to keep the game on the floor till 4pm or pay a hefty early exit fee.

I say all my thoughts as I want this show to continue to get bigger and better!

I do like Troy's idea that there should be more incentive for each additional game you bring. IF this is all going on next year and assuming it will be even bigger like Dan said at the after party (I listened ) then we are going to need way more games to fill the space. Toss on that we cant assume Marco will have a hot title to sell and be bringing so many games... We will want way more games and need the proper incentive to bring them and fines if you leave early.

    Quoted from yancy:

I'd like to propose a moratorium on whysnow complaining about people sneaking into anything after I "caught" him in the Expo freeplay hall during a time it was closed to everyone except game bringers.

you mean after i helped a buddy load in 2 games and was specifically looking at a game for sale? Yeah, I probably should have run out of the closed hall where nothing was going on in the most direct route possible...

    #1328 6 years ago
    Quoted from yancy:

    Everyone has an excuse.

I dont call it an excuse when I am legitimately in there. I could have just told my buddy to load in on his own i suppose.

    Quoted from metallik:

Would stamping VALID ENTRY in 3" letters across a person's forehead satisfy your "papers, please!" requirement?

    that is funny.

Have you met Yancy? You guy both like to extrapolate to extremes it appears.

    Quoted from epthegeek:

Nah, this would just lead to abuse. People fake 'selling' a game to the person they came with to leave early. Game leaves; owner pays fine. Period.

yup, and if it leaves on Sat then they also give back the after party pass and Sunday wristband IMHO.

    #1342 6 years ago

oh yes, no doubt that this was the best MGC ever!

I dont want the feedback to cloud that.

This show was freaking amazaballs and I cant wait for next year. (usually the tuesday after and I dont want to think about pinball for 2 months). I doubled the normal games I brought this year which meant double the cars and work, but it was all worth it.

I do want a shout out to Karl Deangelo. He let me use his never drains tournament software for Clock Chaos and even though he was not at the show, he helped troubleshoot a bug (I think i created) to make sure it all went smoothly. it made the whole Chaos experience so much better for those running it and the players!

    #1365 6 years ago
    Quoted from aobrien5:

I was considering bringing 2 games next year so I didn't have to find an extra party pass for my wife. Assuming you went with all of the above, I would bring 0 games next year.

Why is that? If you are bringing two games and having two people then you would cash them in for show/party passes and be all set.

    #1405 6 years ago
    Quoted from aobrien5:

My biggest issue with the show was the $4.50 bottles of water. That kind of shit should be illegal. (I know that's a venue issue, not a show issue.)

combined with the purposefully hot tap from the bubblers, someone should get kicked in the junk...

    #1418 6 years ago
    Quoted from goatdan:

For that matter, if 250 more pinball machines showed up next year, I'd find them all space too.

    #1420 6 years ago
    Quoted from Jediturtle:

I do not know of anyone turned away. We did have one person bring two in and then take them back out and leave right away. It was a sale gone bad after driving them a long distance and he was quite upset, but not at the show.

That is unfortunate. I believe he was set up next to me and I attempted to make an offer on one of the games but he seemed very frustrated with the whole situation by then. I got the impression something had gone awry with the sale, so I hoped it would change the day for him if he still sold one of them.

    #1425 6 years ago
    Quoted from TomGWI:

If you are talking about a guy who left on Friday with 2 games the answer is NO. He had brought the games to sell and the buyer backed out after he brought them in. We asked if he would stay but I think he was pretty sour that the buyer backed out out on him.

assuming it is the same guy, he said he drove all the way from south dakota?

    #1432 6 years ago
    Quoted from BlueIrocGuy:

What was he trying to sell? He probably could have found a buyer if he had stayed the day....

One game was an evil K. i offered to buy but he did not want to deal with anything at that point it appeared.
