I might a little bit slow on this, but I was cruising through Facebook and saw a post made by the Midwest gaming group.

"Another bit of a longer post, but we could use your feedback on the show again Picture of us moving GOAT Store just for attention
Like I explained in the post with the show dates, but not location, we always look into different places and weigh the positive and negative about moving the show. It's extremely complex, but honestly not very interesting.
Yesterday, I was talking to one of our finalists for 2018 and perhaps the largest issue that we would have is there would be a chance that in the future (to be clear, NOT 2018 as the show WILL be on April 13, 14 and 15) we might have to move the dates of the show relatively significantly if we decide to return to this particular location. Future dates beyond 2018 are tough to lock in before we have hosted our first show there.
We have moved the show in the past (it used to be in the summer!), and people were generally okay with that. My question is simply if the show in 2019 had to move to a late May date, would that affect your decision to come?
The move would probably have a 5 to 10 percent chance of needing to happen, so it's not definite, but it's also not nothing.
Again, the dates this year are confirmed, but the future is what we are curious about. I'll be watching responses (and replying to questions that I can answer, so ask away!) on this one carefully, as your answers will directly influence of the Midwest Gaming Classic both this year and in the future.
As always, thanks for supporting YOUR gaming show!
    ~Dan Loosen"

That was posted sep 7th. I didn't know they were moving? Think I would of known being that I live 1 exit away. Does anybody know why? Did it just outgrow itself? more importantly does anyone have a idea of the area it might be going? I was pretty damn close.
I will be there for sure. thoughts?

    #8 2 years ago

Nothing decent for a good price. brookfield is great location.

    #17 2 years ago

suppose that is why there was a follow up post on face book about peoples feels on moving the dates in the future not 2018. I know Rob Anthony posted that late May dates wouldn't work for him. If it is miller park, baseball season starts about the time MGC goes on. So they would have to move dates. but there is a lot of space there for everybody, electrical grid, plenty of parking, FRIDAYS attached to the ball park. But i'm sure that costs a pretty penny. real pretty

    #22 2 years ago

quick hotel search around miller park

    bestwestern .8 miles

    ambassador inn/hotel 1.6 miles

potawatomi bingo and casino 1.8 miles

    #24 2 years ago

goatdan if you need me start a poll i will.

    #31 2 years ago

^^^im with u. put this show in the parking lot.

    #56 2 years ago

so the bradley center is getting replaced. the bucks are going to play there next season in the old u.s. cellular arena. now the uw pather arena. so it wouldn't effect 2018 dates. but when they move into the new arena, the dates will have to be moved. hmmm

    #87 2 years ago

That does kinda look like the carpet at the Sheraton. Stop teasing us

    #88 2 years ago

the are 3 panda express's in the greater milwaukee area. west allis, greendale, and west milwaukee. which is .8 miles from miller park

No hotel, though. What about the stumbling drunks?

we will put them in the colosseum and let them fight to the death. or watch them go down the giant slide

    #128 2 years ago

i'm with you. I have no idea where it is from the clues. Dan said a "million retailers". I thinking near a mall. Brookfield square, Mayfair mall, Grand Avenue, Bayshore, South Ridge, abandon North Ridge???

    #133 2 years ago

Does the show rent that big tent attached to the Sheraton or does the show own that?

    #148 2 years ago

go ahead jack this thread up. as long as the location revealed.

This is where the negotiations get tough.

    #192 2 years ago

It's got to be the state fair

    #194 2 years ago

They need a big ass space for spooky pinball. They have been tucked in that little corner for a long time.

    #196 2 years ago

yes it is warm and it smells in there. but outside that main hall by the main door people coming in, ticket sales booth, tournament going on, spooky booth. especially if they have a game like TNA there. Just a lot going on right there in that little corner. but yeah, is space a issue? lol does seem like the show outgrew the place.

    #231 2 years ago

    From Facebook
"you where we won't be next year! We have called the Sheraton Milwaukee Brookfield home for many years and have truly loved our relationship with them.
Some people may remember that we hosted on of the early Midwest Gaming Classic shows at the Sheraton in 2004. I won't pretend that that year went the way we were hoping but we learned a lot about how to properly interact with locations from it. In the late 2000s, we were approached by a salesperson who really wanted us to try them again. After a lot of talking we came to terms, and we have since had a wonderful relationship. The employees at the Sheraton are top notch, and will miss many of the friends that we have met there.
But, as you may have noticed, the show has really outgrown the footprint of the Sheraton. We did too, thus the giant tent that we attached to the building while we tried to figure out how to continue the incredible growth rate of the show in some way.
Tomorrow, we'll reveal what we hope is the solution. Before we do, I will simply say that no location is perfect, but we are doing our best to ensure that our new location will be as good if not better for everyone was than the Sheraton was.
And that's a high bar to set. Thanks again to the Sheraton Milwaukee Brookfield Hotel!"

    Quoted from pinwhoo:

Just north of Waupaca, WI on Hwy 49, right before Scandinavia. Actually, only about 10 - 15 minutes away from Central Waters Brewery (if you're familiar with their beer, if not, you should be).

not familiar with the brewery. but being a mechanic I have been to the iola car show many of times and have probably driven right past it. I've been through that little town scandinavia. nothing to see there.

    Quoted from Crashnburn:

Tickets purchased and rooms booked. I cannot wait. The venue looks great but there will be a lot more walking. Oh my aching feet. I hope there will be a few strategically placed chairs.

    there is escalators there!

    #436 2 years ago

kingpin could probably fill the new space with all the toys he has

    #458 2 years ago

    thanks for coming

    #470 2 years ago

so I bartend part-time at The rave eagle club. which is downtown milwaukee not to far from marqutte campus. When I get off late at night, i usally like to hit up a barcade. Around the wisconsin center there is a few good known hotspots to have games available to play when the show is not open. closest one would be

finks on the east side about 2 miles away. they always have 4 games,

not to far from there is landmark lanes. they have 6 games working, bolwing, airhockey, bunch of classic stand ups arcades

on the other side of the center in the oppsite direction there is blackbird bar about 3 miles away. 6 games, and I.C.B. huge college bar with hot girls. don't ask for coolrs light

just letting people know where some hot barcades are in the area for nights times when nothing is going on.

also heard there is going to be a "up down" off of brady street where the old comedy cafe used to be. but i dont know if it will ready for this up coming year.

Im going to the Garcade. I heard there's free beer there

    #471 2 years ago

nice to see rob anthony pop in for a few posts. thank you for being a part of MGC. I heard your not going to work at expo. so when you come in the spring i have work for yah

    #484 2 years ago

great job goatdan! Your really on the ball

    #504 2 years ago
    Quoted from KingPinGames:

this year, my truck(s) will be in one of the semi docks.
probably will be one of the largest collections of games any one person/company will have brought into MGC ever (and I have brought in 48ft of packed truck and trailer before). it's going to be a fun event.

    #520 2 years ago

What is the V.I.G. event? is it worth 45 bucks? because if I bring a game i have to still pay for that separately correct?

    #522 2 years ago

thank you for responding Dan. The reason why i ask is because every year i bring a game. ( i love bringing a game to MGC). but i also love that other people bring there games to share. last year was my first time playing the 1980 bally game fathom. Just loved it. but that's the point. I like being there with all the games with no lines. Not a big socializer. That's why i like the after party so much.No lines.Because I can have all the games i can play set to free play. Now that were moving to the Wisconsin center. Will there be times to play all the games that are brought to MGC after show hours? maybe on Saturday before the after party starts at Garcade? because that is kinda what i'm thinking. If there is no after party at the Wisconsin center to play all the games brought to MGC on Saturday night. Then I will just buy the V.I.G. ticket. Will all the pinball machines be on for the V.I.G. event? that's what i'm the most interested in.

    #529 2 years ago

So the after party is going to stay the same on saturday night with all the games on, to play til 2. like in years past. the only difference is that we can't bring carry-ins. correct? but this year there will be option for a shuttle bus to the garcade? I know more announcements coming? Just trying to see if it worth it for me to buy a ticket Friday night or let someone not from the area have the opportunity. because honestly I would rather someone else have the opportunity to enjoy MGC the most, that doesn't bring a game. I'll just stay up all night Saturday and play like i do every year.

    #540 2 years ago

    how long til MGC!

    #550 2 years ago

that's huge to just play smash brothers

    #555 2 years ago

are we on the first floor or second?

    #558 2 years ago

yes i know how big it is. I work for temp agency and I bartend down there part time. I work for events like brewers on-deck and the auto show. down stairs is nice. It is huge. so just imagine the space up stairs. here is a picture on the auto show down stairs. before it opened to the public.

goatdan. tell everyone about the after parties that were listed on Facebook. The 42 lounge MGC after party 21+ event. There is even a video on there page.Lookjs pretty cool and there going to have a DJ. Then there is the Garcade afterparty. How many pinball machine can we fit in the wisconsin center? My boss (Mike Juneau) is the president of the ADDAM group. He says he can fit 52 cars on the second floor.

    #656 2 years ago

screw it. let's derail it. where is the most happen bar by the wisconsin center?

    #659 2 years ago

there's going to be a "Entertainment District" downtown. also I know madator taco and tequila bar. (where Lucille's piano bar used to be) it's a good place for music, girls, and high end tequila. like $50 a shot. pretty close the wisconsin center. walking distance

    #663 2 years ago

now that's cool. more train fest porn. I didn't get to go this year

    4 weeks later
    #693 2 years ago

Honestly, I can't wait for MGC and to see this new venue

    #699 2 years ago

Nice 4 minute video displaying the space for MGC next year. It the same space as brewer's on-deck, pretty much what i thought. lots of space is a understatement. im sure MGC will find a way to fill it. You don't have that many consoles for the museum do you?

    #708 2 years ago

I changed the title of this thread. there is WAY to much usefully information in this thread. everything from hotels to afterparty to videos of space, loading, parking ect. I kinda think dan wanted this tread to keep going. Now lets start talking MGC

    #717 2 years ago

plenty of space for a trailer this next year

    #719 2 years ago

It's all good. I really like MGC and when you were at the Sheraton that was literally my back yard. now i have to travel a little further but its worth it. Thanks for putting on a great show. enjoy the holidays

    #720 2 years ago

1983 arcade bar just opened today. It's located 2 blocks from where MGC will be held this year. Used to be Lucille's piano bar. Right now they have 20 video's, 4 pinball machines, 1 bubble hockey. haven't been there yet. but im planning on it.

    #724 2 years ago

I agree better close those windows. When it was the piano bar they were tinted. Those games will rotate out pretty frequently.

I hope that guy gets a clue. I cant wait for MGC. I also just saw that color DMD special. does that count for L.E.D. display? hmm. I think i will grab one. I'm bringing the shadow for the show ( also get a after party pass ) and I could use a color display.

oh no they sell liquor and beer in portable bars. I know I work there part time. not this weekend. but they will have beer at a concession stands. now having said that. the after party always provided free beer for the after party? has that changed? You will not be frisked or metal detected. I have NEVER seen that. I repeat never!

    #1080 1 year ago
    Quoted from Fortytwo:

Last I spoke with the Hyatt they didn’t have the $18 a day parking. Has anyone spoke with them and confirmed this? Kind of wondering what my best bet is since I plan on leaving for toms party after setup and don’t want to pay twice.

street parking is metered til 6:00 PM and start again at 8:00am I believe. It will be $1.00 per hour coins or credit. there will be plenty of space Saturday and sunday. Friday might be a little tough, but I hope that helps. If you feel up to a little walk there are lots a couple blocks away that are like 5 bucks or 8 bucks to park. they are on Clybourn street.

    #1166 1 year ago

    Quoted from mpm262:

Do you still have a Sunday pass available? Probably a little late and last minute, but, my wife is interested in going today.
The event was amazing and well laid out yesterday, very easy to get to everything. The official after party was a good time also. Excited for another day. Too bad we have a crazy snow storm going on.

yes pm me. i will be there before 11. running a little late

Who won any of the trophies?

glad you asked. My shadow won best of show DMD game plus I got $100 cash. awsome. I think Hilton got one for his restored fireball. If he didn't he should have.

Had an absolute blast yesterday! Congratulations to Dan and the rest of the staff for putting on another great show! The new venue made for a much better experience than the claustrophobic labyrinth of the Sheraton. My only minor complaint would be that the room where all the pins were in was very cramped, while the huge vendor hall next door seemed to have a ton of open space.

Dan said at the after party that next year they are expanding to another exhibit hall next to it. lol they needed more space

I love the show. IT'S my local show. It's where my heart is. never mind the after party, show awards, weekend pass or perks. when I loaded my game up the guy in the blue shirt said "thanks for bringing your game in a snow storm". And for me that was worth it. just a simple thank you. that's all I need. I thanked multiple people that bought those new in box IMDN games. that is a big step for the show. I think I played 1 game on everyone of those IMDN. thank you for those that purchased.

the afterparty seem to triple in size??? I will be buying my own dinner for now on. still played til 2. that policeforce was killer. I enjoyed all the extra room to move around show. I spent time in the vendor hall and down stairs in the arcade rooms. so much to see.

@videogameseller thank you for bringing games. I dont know how you do it. every time I walked past you I say hi or shake your hand. I would like to say again thank you. your a big supporter of the show.

So when are the dates next year? I heard rumor there going to change

    #1269 1 year ago

I thought the load out process was pretty smooth. staged the game, waited for the dock to be clear, bring my SUV up, load in and go. thanks for playing. Even with all the snow. The rubber footies are a good idea for the concrete floor. because I'm a nudger can't wait for next year.

holy shit 87 New posts. It was only a 5 hours. I thought the load in process was easy. do what they said break down game, stage it, get vehical, load in vehical, off you go.

    Quoted from bangerjay:

The waffle place had Chinese food too

they had Chinese food? shit I settled for nachos. if anything should change i think it should be one wrist band color for the whole show per game. that's it. the whole multiple band thing is getting old. One question are we allowed to bring food in for the after party? I get why the don't during the day because of concession.

great show thanks to the volunteers and vendors that brought all the games to play. That tent would have never held. The weather sucked this weekend. but i couldn't believe Saturday's attendance OMG where there the people. I even though Sunday was strong give in the blizzard happening.

I did see the star wars with the line out. I noticed it because of the bright L.E.D. I think it had 2 lines out it I'm not mistaken
