I might a little bit slow on this, but I was cruising through Facebook and saw a post made by the Midwest gaming group.

"Another bit of a longer post, but we could use your feedback on the show again Picture of us moving GOAT Store just for attention
Like I explained in the post with the show dates, but not location, we always look into different places and weigh the positive and negative about moving the show. It's extremely complex, but honestly not very interesting.
Yesterday, I was talking to one of our finalists for 2018 and perhaps the largest issue that we would have is there would be a chance that in the future (to be clear, NOT 2018 as the show WILL be on April 13, 14 and 15) we might have to move the dates of the show relatively significantly if we decide to return to this particular location. Future dates beyond 2018 are tough to lock in before we have hosted our first show there.
We have moved the show in the past (it used to be in the summer!), and people were generally okay with that. My question is simply if the show in 2019 had to move to a late May date, would that affect your decision to come?
The move would probably have a 5 to 10 percent chance of needing to happen, so it's not definite, but it's also not nothing.
Again, the dates this year are confirmed, but the future is what we are curious about. I'll be watching responses (and replying to questions that I can answer, so ask away!) on this one carefully, as your answers will directly influence of the Midwest Gaming Classic both this year and in the future.
As always, thanks for supporting YOUR gaming show!
    ~Dan Loosen"

That was posted sep 7th. I didn't know they were moving? Think I would of known being that I live 1 exit away. Does anybody know why? Did it just outgrow itself? more importantly does anyone have a idea of the area it might be going? I was pretty damn close.
I will be there for sure. thoughts?

    #2 10 months ago

does not sound like anything is decided and they are asking for opinions on this due to constraints of future dates at other options for location...

    #3 10 months ago

I heard there is a chance to have mgc in a major venue in downtown Milwaukee . There is both posatives and negatives to moving mgc . I think they just want to make sure that the posatives far out weigh the negatives before making a move .

    #4 10 months ago

Well, the show really out grew the Sheraton years ago and the tent was added to alleviate the space issues. I think the ownership change and loss of some familiar personnel at the Sheraton has been a concern.

    #5 10 months ago

The location is reviewed each year, as space has been an issue at the Sheraton for some time. Finding the right fit/cost is a challenge.

I heard that Miller Park offered to host the show as part of an esports thing. I think that's the running thought at the moment.

    #6 10 months ago

I had just sent Dan a message and asked if he talked with the Brewers. He said he was talking to someone there Friday.

    #7 10 months ago

I really hope they do not move it to downtown Milwaukee. I've been part of large events down there and it's a mess on so many levels. If it is at Miller Park, where they hell is everyone going to stay? There is nothing around that area for hotels.

Nothing decent for a good price. brookfield is great location.

Miller park doesn't make much sense to me . I don't think I would attend mgc if it were held there .

    #10 10 months ago

Wasn't everyone at this years show already talking about the possible new venue for next year? I didn't realize it wasn't locked down yet. I'm glad I kept my big mouth shut I guess. I like the show and hotel being in such close proximity so I can go take a nap and not have to drive anywhere lol.

    This x100

Wherever they choose, I just hope the hotel is on site and stays somewhat affordable. Offsite rooms would most likely be a deal breaker for me making the trip.

Priorities are gaming sleeping and eating as far as I'm concerned so as long as I can do all three without having to go real far I'm in. I could also be that I am just lazy but..

    Fun thread.

I'm not yet willing to talk too much about negotiations, but I will say I'm impressed that no one immediately called me an idiot for talking with Miller Park. Thanks, guys! (seriously!) It seems like some people trust us.

Due to the sensitive nature of negotiations, I don't want to confirm exactly who is in the running and why it has taken so long. There was not a definite plan for this year last year, and we explore options every year. There are reasons this year is taking longer.

I can confirm the Brewers do want the MGC at Miller Park. I won't confirm much more than that right now, but trust me, if we are going to make a move, we are going to ensure we have a solid answer to keeping everything for everyone at least as good as if was if not better. If we don't think that's possible, it would be really hard to work with that particular location.

Read into that what you will, but multiple locations are still under consideration. There are a million retailers with this show, and we want to get them as right as possible. I'm sure it won't be perfect, but anyone who has noticed the giant tent attached to the Sheraton should realize that it's not exactly perfect either, so I'm sure we'll come up a bit short no matter where we decide to go to.

    Go back to, eh?

    #16 10 months ago

No one *immediately!* Key word immediately!

And let's let the process play out. I'm curious about what they are thinking...

    #17 10 months ago

suppose that is why there was a follow up post on face book about peoples feels on moving the dates in the future not 2018. I know Rob Anthony posted that late May dates wouldn't work for him. If it is miller park, baseball season starts about the time MGC goes on. So they would have to move dates. but there is a lot of space there for everybody, electrical grid, plenty of parking, FRIDAYS attached to the ball park. But i'm sure that costs a pretty penny. real pretty

    #18 10 months ago

I would LOVE if MGC could be at a bigger and more modern space.

My request is like others that we have attached/onsite hotel rooms to any covention center, easy load in/out, and a lax enough staff to allow the after party to continue as it always has.

Offsite hotel is not a complete deal breaker but it needs to be VERY close if offsite. People need to be able to easily and quickly grab a nap/beer/food/ etc... between games.

short drunken walking distance is probably the better measuring stick

    #21 10 months ago

Haha, love the speculation guys. Again I'm not going to over share because as I've mentioned, it limits the power we have in negotiation. But I'll share some random thoughts...

The Brewers came to me, and what else does Miller Park do the half of the year when it's not hosting games?

Any location needs at least 5 contracts.

Shuttle busses for the arcade party.

A contract we have negotiated with in the past decided to drastically change their terms. They are difficult to replace, but their terms are unacceptable as is.

Arenas are interesting to plan entertainment inside of.

Sometimes, the answer to everything truly is 42.

If you apply a cypher to my words, they become more clear.

All of the above are true statements, and all of the above are riddles that if you figure out are serious hints about the future. I would suggest, however, continuing to trust we're not crazy, and if you come up with an idea that seems that we are, maybe you're down a different path than we are.

I would seriously love to see the speculation off this. Hell, I may steal this post nearer our official announcement and ask on Facebook too...

quick hotel search around miller park

    bestwestern .8 miles

    ambassador inn/hotel 1.6 miles

potawatomi bingo and casino 1.8 miles

I call my own skybox at Miller Park if it's there.

    #24 10 months ago

goatdan if you need me start a poll i will.

    #25 10 months ago

Bigger place, more games, equals the The Best in the Midwest!!

    #26 10 months ago

No polls needed. We're truthfully decided, we just need to finalize some details and then inform the necessary people to finish the contracts.

Completely honestly here, without me playing games I think are funny but may be the only one who does, we are way far down the road already. We're truly negotiating for 2020 right now as part of this all. It's so complex, and I honestly just want it over with one way or another.

when can we expect an announcement?

After final details are negotiated and contracts are officially signed.

Trust me, no one is wants this over more than Gary and I, but we aren't accidentally going to sign up for something that won't work for the show just to hurry things along...

    #30 10 months ago

This could be one of said contracts currently in negotiation. No need to worry about hotels.

    Or, perhaps not.

I can get two set up with the slide out. Three if i take out a table. Not that i've measured or anything, cause my wife would kill me...

Could you park an RV in the Miller park lot overnight? That would be an option all of a sudden if I could

    #37 10 months ago

Well, crap, it took me 3-4 years to find a good spot for my table.
Does this magical unicorn infested future location have a good spot for my table?

In all honesty, it's currently about an 8-9 hour drive to get there from my Dakota location. I hope it doesn't get further away.

Ah! I know the plan you're talking about! L

That plan was not made by Gary and I, but was instead made by someone else and given to us as an example of how we could fit everything together in one hall. It was actually a full year old at this year's show, and the map was jokingly blown up and handed to Gary and I in a, "hey, we know you guys have never though about space" way this year.

The map has some major issues, like could we really run the arcade, museum, stage and speaking area in a similar location without sound barriers. It's a great talking piece, but I won't pretend that is the plan we're going off of.

I am glad you are joking around as it means you must be happy with the change in venue.

I frankly have zero idea what you are cryptically saying in your messages and just want to know where it will be and ensure i get a hotel room. Reality is,this is my favorite show and Ill be there to support no matter where it is, but i like it how it is already so it will be hard to get better.

There may be no venue change. I could just be nervously awaiting when our official sponsorship of a local professional sports team will be announced.

    I'm hoping for tomorrow.

Alright I'll try to read into your cryptic post . Since you corrected to the word "details " from a previous post I assume this word has some importance . So I will take the statement "million details "and grab the first letter from each word in this statement and guess at these being some part of the clue . So my guess is that the new location is the
Mitchel Domes . If so I'd like to have a game set up near the venus fly traps .

    #45 10 months ago

I kind of read that the Sheraton changed the terms which the show couldn't meet from your cryptic comments.

Honestly, I'm trusting this will all work out. You guys have shown you know how to put on a hell of show year after year.

The Sheraton is great and all but it's starting to resemble a Sega Genesis CD-ROM 32-X.

It could be the Bucks right? They're getting a new arena IIRC?

Yep, something like that but bigger and more beer .

What's tough with that hint is that we had a whole bunch of different contracts we had to sign for last year, I think the number is nine. Would one necessitate a location change? Maybe, depending on the one but all would need to be worked out first.

    It's like herding cats. Seriously.
