Fart Fest 2017 with no air conditioning!
Anyone who doesn't understand why it was warm in the halls doesn't understand how a large heating scale heating and cooling system works. I will defend the hotel for doing the best they could have with the hand we were dealt. Everything was cold Saturday morning, but a warm day without being able to convert to air yet and a whole bunch of people and electronics, well, that's about the best it can be.

It really is crazy what an effect a bunch of people and transformers can make (especially ramping up both so quickly). Scott from underground retrocade in Dundee upgraded the HVAC system last fall, and if I remember right I think he said that with every game on, just that alone can keep the arcade comfortable so long as it doesn't drop below 40-45F outside. Anything above that outside is above going to rise the temp above 70.
The cross breeze down the long hallway was nice, but the smokers going out that door really stunk things up (I'm assuming wisconsin doesn't have the same 15 feet from doorways that illinois has).
All in all a great weekend. My 9 year old daughter had a blast at the show. My 11 year old got sick Friday morning before we left and couldn't come, also preventing my wife from coming. That was a huge bummer, as she (my wife) had been practicing her NES tetris skills for over a year. She was closing in on a 300,000 point game average. She would have done well in the Tetris tournament. Oh well, next year.
Nothing like leaving the hotel and remembering you forgot the Midway cocktail glass you bought from Bryan at Paradise Arcade on the hotel bed. *GAH* Had to turn around and go back to get my $50 piece of glass.
The vendor tent was incredible this year. So much to see and shop. I spent 3 hours in there Saturday morning. It was absolutely HUGE.
Had breakfast with Jeremy Packer and John Trudeau Sunday morning - cool to talk shop with those guys.
Met Terry Diebold and snapped a selfie with the Nintendo Playstation prototype
Found Ben Heck roaming the vendor tent, introduced myself
My daughter got to ride Chris from Kingpin's pumba ride and she got interviewed for a podcast
Sat night afterparty silent auction was a huge success
Sadly, I was so busy most of the weekend that I never touched a vid or pin. I DID play in the NES Tetris tournament, and managed to eek my way into the finals, but got stomped on right away. Oh well, next year.
I got autographs from Phillip Ahn ("Shang Tsung") and Daniel Pesina ("Scorpion, Sub Zero, Reptile, Johnny Cage") in the Galloping Ghost room, and met Doc Mack from Galloping Ghost for the first time.
Had car trouble over the weekend - coolant reservoir tank sprung a leak and I nearly overheated. Had to change it in the auto parts store parking lot on Sunday afternoon
just wanted to say thanks again for anyone that brought a game to MGC, helped do stuff to make it run, and in general just continue to make this the best show of the year every year!!!
I am already looking forwrad to next year!
I'll follow Hilton's post with more of the same. Thanks out to the many that do the work to make this show great. You may only see a few of them, but there are many making things happen. I also want to thank Dan and Gary for being so easy to work for. I can't imagine the pressure these guys are under during the show and any time I've worked with either of them, they seem total chill. To close, thank you to Dan's parents for working the VIP food area on Friday night. The line for pizza seemed endless, and at the front were two retired parents, much like my own parents, serving pizza and food to the masses by themselves in a crowded room. So cool to see.
Looking forward to MGC 2018!

Sorry to bump an old thread, but wanted to put a heads up for vendors next year. One of the vendors this year sold a $700 game system, buyer filed a chargeback yesterday as unauthorized.
Be careful with taking credit cards here on out.
