Quoted from BarryMulvihill:Not sure if it's connected but I should mention all three flippers do not work. Haven't solved that issue yet. The test after display test is the solinoid test. Any chance non functioning flippers keep machine from entering solinoid test?
No, not really. The CPU watches the test switch input and then advances to the next test. The MPU will then send signals to the SDB to fire the coils, regardless of whether the coil driver board is working or not.
In the first test, burn-in, hold down the flipper buttons on the cabinet. When it gets to Sol #.. uhm.. one of the last ones before sound, they should fire, then drop, as the flipper relay ('coil') enables then disables. Other than that, though, flippers have no interaction with the MPU.
Honestly, I'm not sure what else to check, other than:
(1) Replacing U10, as that is the PIA that watches the test switch, and/or
(2) Re-burning a ROM set, as it may be corrupt and not jumping to the code to continue the test. (Or, you have some strange custom code ROMs..)
