I've got an 79 Meteor pin.
My METEOR drop targets at the top of the machine are a problem.

They will not always trigger a score when dropped. Also when it reset after losing the ball at least 1/2 of them seem to fall right back down again.
I've already replaced the plastics thinking they were worn out and that is why they wouldn't stay up.

Does anybody have ideas on what else I can do to make it reliable?
I would like to replace the springs and switches but I don't know what the original part numbers would be...
There are too many choices in springs and switches!

Thanks,

Clean and adjust switches.

Loosen the set screws on the reset shaft and twist it so it'll push them as high as possible

yeah you shouldn't need new switches or springs, just clean the contacts and adjust like zacaj said.
you can use contact cleaner, tabasco sauce or some other mild acid. Just don't leave it on for long, because it'll eat through the plating of the switch itself.

I'll take the suggestions on the set screws thanks.

The switches are bent up. I WANT to replace them and the springs. They look beat up too.
I don't know the part #'s...

I found this on Marco's site. Looks like the spring 5a-171 is out of stock. The switch shows it's a SW-471. They sell a replacement switch ASE-2911-17, should work.

I'd first try cleaning and adjusting the switches like suggested. Unless broken or the contacts are gone, they should work fine. Springs should be reusable too if not stretched too badly or broken.

Dose this happen after you have started a game?
I thought meteor had a memory setting so any targets you
knock down, reset, and drop the ones you had knocked down
until all 6 have been dropped.

This is correct.

And that drop target bank picture is not for the meteor targets.

Yes, HOWEVER -
What the OP was referring to wasn't the game 'remembering', it was the fact they weren't *resetting* properly. Terminology is everything.

How you can tell the difference:
If the targets pop up and then immediately fall back down, that means they're not resetting properly.
If they rise up, then fall down in order a half-second to second after being reset, then THAT is the memory function.
