I just found out about these after another guy and I both posted about flipper dragging on other classic Sterns: https://www.pinballlife.com/nylon-flipper-shaft-spacer.html

Iirc, you can also get #14 brass washers from Home Depot or wherever.

I also use those, so I busted out the caliper and compared to an original they’re right about 1mm larger. Easy to bend a wireform, if even needed, but I haven't even had to adjust my F2K lane guides. The only game of mine with ball hop issues is Galaxy, and it has the original short-shaft bats on it.

My point about Galaxy is your mileage my vary. These games were hand-built by people 40 years ago. Tolerances will be different for each playfield.

I did the same thing when I built my Quicksilver since the cab I used didn’t originally have a speaker hole.

I just retrobrited the coin entry slots on this door. It took 3 full days in the sun to really see results.

In retrospect I should’ve done the button too

May have to do with your solution. I ultrasonic cleaned some junk/broken Centaur drop targets as a test, using Comet Pinball's ultrasonic powder solution. The art was totally removed.

That's what I used on my coin slots, actually. I really didn't see much in terms of results until the end of Day 3 and diluting it with some water a bit. I'd previously tried using this with a mixture of Oxyclean but was never super happy with it. I also never let it go for 3 full days. Forgetting the coin slots outside over the weekend at my office at work actually worked out for me lol.

Coin door part. It mounts the coin switches.

Like this? Just added to my Star Gazer build by your recommendation. The bus wire is 18awg green to the knocker only for some reason.

Quoted from Coyote:

rkill.

Yeah, that will work.
For future reverence, though, you don't need the two Grn/Black from the fuse to the coil, since they're joined at the fuse terminal.

Ah yeah that makes sense

Quoted from polyacanthus:

Does anyone make a reproduction arch ball guide? Mine has some rust and is going to look crummy with the new playfield so I'd like to replace it. If someone sells metal strip for this purpose I could make one but I haven't seen any "make your own ball guide" parts. It would be a little pricey from online metal places.

You may want to contact Kerry to ensure you get a piece long enough. I can’t recall if there’s a really long one on Meteor off hand.

The N bobbin just has the lugs on the side rather than the top. Not sure why that really matters, but a stern J-26-1200 of Bally AN-26-1200 works just as well.

Put an in-line fuse on that buster when you reinstall.

Http://nvram.Weebly.com is your better option for classic stern boards. Alltek boards are great but are locked, do not come with expanded (or expandable) roms, and do not allow for free play. And Weebly’s are cheaper to boot.

If you’re wanting to avoid as much soldering as possible, you might look at the XPin solderless solution to the rectifier board replacement https://xpinpinball.net/product/xp-bly2518-ebr/

Send rockwell a message. He runs http://wirebot.xyz and can take care of your connector and crimp pin needs.

#2814 5 months ago

I have never used the solderless board myself but cannot recall reading anyone having problems with them.

I forgot Pinball Life has their own that comes with the connectors: https://www.pinballlife.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=PBL-100-0070-00

This is why I recommended Wire-bot though. Best deal and supporting a pinball-centric company at the same time. One more plug: http://wirebot.xyz

You can use a Gottlieb A-5920. Pinball Resource has them.

Best quality but requires self assembly would be Pinitech’s: https://www.pinitech.com/

Great value DIY kit: https://www.wolffpactech.com/product-page/5x-orange-6-digit-display-kit-for-bally-stern

Best value (by a wiiiide margin) but requires some legwork: http://lisy.dev

I could bring one to TPF for you if it’s not too far out.
