I hate crimping too, and it's hard without the right tool. Do you have a good crimper? If not get the 3136-CT from Great Plains:

This tool is so good it's almost fun to use, and it makes beautiful, perfect crimps. It only works on the .156 pins; you'll need another model for the .1 pins (shown on the same page). I got them both and they're two of the best things I've ever bought.
