Quoted from Coyote:And what am I missing down here on the transformer pad?
Also looks like you are missing the instruction card (am currently redoing all of mine).

Quoted from Coyote:And what am I missing down here on the transformer pad?
Also looks like you are missing the instruction card (am currently redoing all of mine).
Quoted from DK:Can anyone help me with this "T"? Hopefully there's an extra for sale somewhere out there. I'd like to make the targets all uniform if possible
Pinball resource has the complete 'hot-stamped' set ('meteor', 111, 222, 333), pop bumper caps, and star posts.
Quoted from Lovef2k:Stripped the lamp board, that's brave. I did to 3 games so far. Are you replacing the lamp sockets?
Lamp sockets don't look too bad so decided to keep them - lamp board just needed a facelift.
Per the instruction cards - you have IM.
Did you happen to make this instruction card as well - goes on bottom of cabinet (left of transformer and above the speaker)
Rustoleum satin black #7777
Spray cans.
Sanding between each coat (400 dry).
Final sand was 600 wet
I scuffed all the black with grey #000 3M pad, laid down the stencil then scuffed inside each stencil with 400 - paying particular attention to the edges.
Used Krylon banner red gloss -Wispy sprays every 3 minutes (5x). Last spray was a little bit thicker.
Waited a full 30 minutes before removal.
Removed stencil in sections (x-acto knife) and went along the edge keeping uniform tension.
Stencil removal time 30-45 minutes
Quoted from DK:Blue. Looks 10x better in person
Awesome job.
Glad I picked that color as well. My LEDs are in transit
Moving along little by little:
Laid down 2nd color on front of cabinet.
Krylon sun yellow gloss and Krylon golden glitter blast
I think the quality of this board along with the extra items that are provided in the "kit" are way above a rottendog replacement:
Rectifier Board and included accessory pack
Features:
Works with Stern TA 100 and Bally AS-2518-18, AS-2518-49 boards.
Plug and play replacement rectifier board.
LEDs are provided for each power supply voltage.
Heat sinks are provided for all three bridge rectifiers.
Top mounted heavy duty 35 amp bridge rectifiers for added reliability.
Through hole design for easier soldering and serviceability.
All PinHead Rectifier boards are professionally wave soldered using high quality ultrapure solder designed by Kester, the leading manufacturer for solder. This greatly improves the aesthetics and reliability of all solder joints.
High temperature 170tg FR-4 material is used along with extra thick copper and flooded ground plains, which helps reduce noise and dissipate heat.
High temperature polycarbonate fuse cover to protect you from high voltages.
Meets current ANSI/IPC-2221 specifications.
Includes an additional ground terminal, which provides an alternate path for the ground plain and relieves stress from the existing E8 ground connection.
Increased the resistance value of the power resistors to decrease operating tempature. Also increased the power rating of R2 from 10 watts to 15 watts.
Every board has clearly marked E connections on both sides of the board for easy installation.
Includes an accessory pack with all of the necessary parts for mounting the new board and rebuilding those old worn out and burnt connectors.
Includes all fuses.
Compatible with Future Spa, KISS and Space Invaders.
An accessory pack is included with each PinHead Electronics replacement Rectifier Board:
3 Molex keying plugs
4 PCB standoffs
9-pin Molex plug
10-pin Molex plug
20-pin Molex plug
40 Molex Trifurcon style contacts
Quoted from TaylorVA:Best place for replacement coin door parts?
Can you be more specific? Coin mechanism? Credit button decal? Price plates?
Quoted from TaylorVA:The pricing plates and coin slot part missing from the pics I posted.
Pricing plates can be found at Marco - they have several to choose from.
Coin entry plate for early stern (white plastic) - you might be SOL (both Marco and Action Pinball are out of stock)
Surprised nobody has made more - probably can be made from a 3D printer
anyone replace their line filter, cable, and varistor? If so, any pictures will be helpful
Thanks in advance.
Quoted from Coyote:Was Meteor's door textured like that? Mine's stainless..
Mine was the same - hammered effect - same color that Lovef2k posted.
I recently sanded down my entire coin door and trim to bare metal (rust in multiple spots) and repainted - Rustoleum hammered effect but in black.
Quoted from Lovef2k:somebody I think in Australia was reproducing the plastic coin slots. I can't find the link now but they were pricey. CPR made the pricing plates and sold there stock to Marco. Try them as they are only a few bucks a piece. I have some spare coin slots if you need any. I have repainted some with Krylon Fusion paint and they turned out nice
Wish I knew that you had extra coin slots when I ordered the instruction cards - am in need of 1.
Prior owner filed down the edges that protrude through the chrome bezel - reasons unknown.
Also replaced the speaker and polished the metal.
This speaker was recommended to me since its 8ohm, 92dB sensitivity, and response range is 70-9kHz - perfect for the highs, build up, and lows of meteor.
My daughter picked the color for the speaker mount (she wanted it to match the purple on the back glass)
What is so special with that twobit board that it is priced $129 over the Alltek? Since this is all new to me what am I missing?
I bought the buttons through zittware and also the clear mounting brackets. I have a couple of led bulbs that I will mount close to the button - tap into the GI lighting on the coin door - Vid has a great tutorial on it

Quoted from SealClubber:According to the diagram in the bottom of my meteor next to the transformer, the 1+3 and 9+11 lugs should be wired together for 115v. If it were 220v, different lugs would be tied together.
Understood. Thanks Seal Clubber
Quoted from BoP:Yes Swinks has reproduced the plastic coin slots. Anyone looking for the, can find them and more here on his Shapeways page.
http://www.shapeways.com/shops/dutch-orange
BoP - Awesome. Thank you for posting the link to this great stuff.
very nice Taylor.
There was a meteor at the pin-a-go-go recently that played really well.
I kept going back to the machine after hitting up other pins.
Quoted from jar155:What does a full set of Alltek boards run? I don't think I'll need to or want to go that route, but I'm curious all the same.
$414 for all three boards - LED / lamp driver, solenoid driver, and MPU
or
$335 for two boards - solenoid driver and MPU
Quoted from swampfire:BTW, I'd love for someone to post pics of a superb example of a Meteor in this thread. I know there must be at least a few out there.
CPR playfields are going to sell well for this title.
...still working on my restoration....soon....
Ok gents. Running into an issue. Couple things to keep in mind - new Alltek mpu, rectifier board + new connectors on J1, J2, J3.
Machine starts up (led blinks 7 times then go in haze - normal operation for Alltek board).
I can self-test and go through different audits via test button on coin door - all solenoids seem to be working except game will not start and all flippers are dead.
Any ideas? Thanks
Quoted from SealClubber:Have you hit the clear memory button on the Altek MPU prior to you setting the game DIPs? IMO, the directions are out of order and you should do that first.
Thanks. I cleared the memory and reset the DIPs.
Quoted from Coyote:In test mode, if you hold down flipper cabinet button, do the flippers pulse after the coils all fire and before sounds play?
Do you have a credit on the game?
In switch test, does pressing the start button register?
Thanks. After clearing the memory I also reseated the coin door connector and was able to trip the little wire with a quarter to get a credit.
Music turned on, flippers activated, and it was go time!
All I need to do now is go through the audits and set replay at a low score to continually get credits.
Also need to figure out why my drop targets are not resetting.
When you hit all drop targets there is supposed to be an explosion sound then all of them reset.
The last set of drop targets that are up, you knock them down, they go back up in unison but none of the other drop targets go back up so no reset - more trouble shooting awaits...
Quoted from dothedoo:What do you mean by this? Only one drop target bank should reset. Only at start of ball do all banks reset.
dothedoo. You are correct, I misspoke.
Everything is now working as it should.
Last thing I need to deal with are the meteor drop targets - some time these tend to slip down after being reset due to a new ball (when all targets reset) - probably due to age of the targets, I have some repo's on hand
Quoted from AMBoggs:I must have stared at this picture forever before I realized what you did with the rockets, it just kept nagging me something was off. It looks beautiful.
Thank you. Restoring this was such a pain but definitely worth it.
Quoted from Coyote:Interesting - are side rails not available? (I haven't looked, but I know I'll be needing them..)
(Whohoo.. shipping from Canada, too..!)
Correct. Not available.....yet...
Hey guys, been thinking about selling my Meteor.
After all the work went into it (new alltek boards, rectifier boards, cabinet is flawless with new paint and auto clear, almost new everything) am wondering what to price it at.
Thoughts?
Thanks.
Quoted from Coyote:I went ahead and ordered final versions of the lamp board. I got three of the incandescent (#555 twist-in socket, used in all DMD 90's games) boards, and I ordered one all-LED board, using the same LED units as Comet's '5050' LED bulb. If there's enough interest, I can get a handful made, but cost is on the upper-end. (If I have 10 people, cost would be about $70 a piece. Higher with less people, lower with more.)
By the end of the month - likely after the holidays, I'll be able to take pics and show them, once they arrive.
Sweet
Quoted from Coyote:Holy crap. I way, way underpaid for my game.
ebay.com link
And apparently, Meteors are hard to find!
Guess I should list mine for $8k then
Quoted from Coyote:Hope everyone had a great holiday!
My second "test board" came in while I was out. I'll try it tonight or tomorrow..
Nice!
Quoted from Lovef2k:The repro Meteor plastics sets are now complete and ready to order. It's been a long wait but I think it was worth it.

Am thoroughly amused and I think I made a friend...
Per pinsider Msch - "Nicer than the $2500 one for sale here"
His: https://pinside.com/pinball/market/classifieds/ad/44783
vs.
Mine: https://pinside.com/pinball/market/classifieds/ad/42964
Quoted from Msch:Found this one on eBay. Looks exactly like the one that the dude was at $2500 firm(that would for sure sell on pinside, according to him).
It will sell eventually. I had four separate pinsider inquiries - individuals wanting to purchase the machine.
Also received messages from other pinsiders telling you Michigan boys to kick rocks.
I lowered the price to $2,200 and closed the ad on pinside until a future date.
The machine can sit unused in my game room until it sells.
Your move Michigan...
Quoted from Coyote:Another quick question on the lamp boards -
Would $60 a piece be too steep for a single Rocket lamp board? I'm looking at getting various quotes right now..
Coyote,
I think $60 would be a great price point for the lamp board.
In addition to this board have you also considered a replacement board for the lamps next to the "meteor" drop target bank?
You could offer a replacement set. Just a thought.
