Found a weird Meteor playfield in my dad's garage. He remembered picking it up as a barn-find about 10 years ago. It's weird because looks like it's been clear-coated. Also, the clear coat seems to have darkened the whole playfield up. Anyone seen this before? Just an amateur CC job or something? It's weird, cuz the PF is smooth as glass, but I guess it was never installed? I've got the backglass too, btw. I wonder what the story here is, and where the rest of the game went?

It's been in my Dad's garage for at least 10 years, and before that it was in a barn for who knows how long. I didn't think people were putting on their own clear coats 20 years ago. Just kinda confusing, because even now it's not a very valuable game to go to the trouble to strip the playfield, clear coat it, and put it back together. I mean it's a good game and it's getting appreciated more these days, but at the time this CC was done to it, it musta been a $500 game.

I was wondering how many Meteors had chimes and how many had digital sound? I've seen/heard both types, but was wondering how many of each version were made? A google search turned up nothing. And I'm wondering how common each version was.

Shoot, am I thinking of Stars?! Damn, I feel silly now.

In the club, thanks to a fellow Pinsider from Minnesota. Meteor is in solid shape, and only very minor wear on the pf.

Immediately put it on location at The Pinball Room in Sioux Falls. Had a broken meteor drop, but otherwise no other problems so far.

The last comment I'll make is, man these Stern spinners rip! Even shots that aren't completely clean and smooth can still rack up the spins. Crazy good spinners.

I was wondering if anyone knew what the logic for spotting Meteor targets was? The star rollovers, standup, and inlanes can all spot Meteor drops at various points, and I was wondering how the game decides which of the Meteor targets to drop when one of those switches is hit.

It doesn't seem entirely random which of the METEOR target gets spotted, but neither can I see a distinct pattern. I'm doing some switch matrix troubleshooting, and knowing what the logic is (if any) would help. I was wondering if the game always tries to spot the targets in a particular order, or if the each switch has it's own preferred target to spot? Or if it's entirely random?

Anyone know?
