Stern, 2013I'll have to say that my expectations were so low on this one that I'm pleasantly surprised by what I see here. Song list looks good, playfield features look good, layout looks good, the artwork to me is a little meh but some people may like that doodle appearance. It looks like it may be fun though.
Oh boy...
I may be all-in on this one.
We'll just have to see how it develops and what kind price is put on the thing.

Looks similar to TOTAN.
My guess is, the hammer comes down over the ball, making it look like it smashes the ball through the playfield. Looks like the ball is held by a magnet and then pulled below the playfield using a coil. The ball is then dropped into a subway trough and feeds the up-kicker to the right side of the playfield.
Are those holes for in-line drop targets leading up to the Master of Puppets headstone on the left? If so, hell yes.

Don't think so, they aren't shown on the playfield art. However, you never know. Looks like there might be a second magnet in front of the main toy though.

Maybe it will be a Premium/LE only feature? It also looks like the electric chair dude might be upgraded as well.

Same here, definitely must play it before putting any money down - however, game does look fun (and like a lot of people I had pretty low expectations for it, but it looks great so far).

Hmm.. I don't know about the FUEL meter being such a central objective. I was hoping the two newer songs wouldn't be so tied into the game.
Obviously too soon to criticize, but the fuel meter looks to me like it's some kind of game progress meter. Or maybe it could just be a mode timer that counts down...

They have done them, but it's just been a while. Gary said they quit doing them because it confuses new players....they don't know where the ball is going to come out at. I'm glad to see that they're apparently abandoning that line of thinking now though!
Edit: Just saw the playfield drawing. I guess it's an under-playfield trough/ball lock and not a subway ramp. Oh well...

Ahhh I don't know. I have lots of issues with WOZ and I'm a big Metallica fan, so I'm probably the prime suspect to do what you're suggesting, but I doubt I would dump WOZ for this. For all the cool gimmicks on Metallica, it looks like it's yet another back-and-forth ramp game with an orbit and a few other stop-shots and targets filling the gaps. I say this fully realizing that so is, say, Medieval Madness, and that Lyman is doing the code, so here's hoping it turns out to be amazing. I'm going to see if I can raise the cash for one (assuming the $500 increase rumor is false), but I don't think I'd sell my WOZ spot for one.

Yeah, this thing does look cool...awfully tempting to sell off my early place in line for WOZ. 
Somehow I don't think my wife and kids would be as excited about Metallica as they WERE about WOZ though.

As good as the two would look together, I'd never do that. If you ever have both of them playing at the same time, they'd just completely drown each other out. Mine are going at opposite ends of each other.
