This was my 2nd NIB and is worth more than I paid. This is the machine that my wife and I compete with each other on. I have been lucky with no flaws or drama from machine, runs perfect.

Where can someone buy spinners for the Pro? I love spinners on pins, seems strange to me that they take those off on the Pro. They can't cost stern all that much???

Hooked makes them in small batch runs.
If there are none left right now odds are he will do another run soon.
Don't let the comment above about being able to finish one crank it up mode faster stop you from getting them.
They look fantastic and nothing beats having the opportunity on every shot to rip the damn spinners.

Quoted from GoldenBear:

I just got finished modding my met pro wood back box version
LEDS look great
FF large subwoofer and speakers
Purple powder coated armor
Cemetery blades and speaker panel decal
Creeping death mod
The machine looks, plays, and feels awesome. I have had a lot of pinballs and have a collection of 10 machines currently, and I play this machine by far more than anything now...it is a blast. Best Stern I have ever played
I really believe the speaker upgrade is a must and it was so impressive I decided not to install a shaker motor I purchased because the sub is all you need
The blades with the creeping death mod (pinball refinery) adds an eerie glow which is impressive especially with fluorescent plastic protectors
The powder coated armor feels better so the machine doesn't have that flimsy Stern feel
With the above mods, the machine does not feel like a stripped down machine like many pros..it is impressive and I would highly recommend purchasing. I did not even like Metallica music and was thinking about trading for an AC/DC before I did the upgrades. Now I love the music!!! Gameplay is different from other Stern classics as it is a fast playing machine not a long adventure like LOTR or Simpsons, somewhat like IM.
Btw one can purchase the rising cross but it is expensive now (only vendor is Marco I believe) Redshift LED, the maker of the total light show mod, promises a cheaper version in the future. The total light show mod also has programming for the cross mod, I believe. I will know in a few weeks as I have one in box but need time to install.
Nonetheless, if you are considering purchasing any Stern Pro machine...this is the Pro to get! Unless of course you like stop and go pinball...for without all of the premium add ons this machine moves fast.

I agree with everything but the upgraded spekers... i had them.but it sounded muffled and not as loud.... the sub was a improvement but compared to the polk psw 10 its not even close. I love the stock set up with powdered sub bc the stock woofer gives lots of mids that are missing if you upgrade to aftermarket.

#55 3 years ago

I"ll admit just not into modern sterns with the exception of ACDC Premium/LE and Metallica. All versions of this this title are fantastic! I would recommend buying HUO rather then NIB.

#56 3 years ago

Its my first modern Stern purchase that I picked up 15 months ago. Absolutely love the game play. I'm not a Metallica fan, but totally enjoy how they incorporated the music into the game play. I've had a couple of wires that came loose and broke the foot off of Sparky. Would I buy again? In a heartbeat!

Would not argue with that as I have not heard that setup and I can imagine the powered sub would have less distortion, but for simplicity I used the flipper fidelity top of the line 10 inch sub with speaker setup and it has been plenty loud and not really muffled. I know what you are saying though because I installed a set of speakers and sub from one of the 2 larger pinball speaker sellers into a SM a few years ago and I felt the same as you do...that the sounds were somewhat muffled. Maybe the newer sets are getting better? To be honest with you though, if i had thought about your setup, I might have done it your way because it makes sense that you would get more frequency coverage. Did you change out the standard backbox speakers to minimize distortions from those?

I played this for the first time about two weeks ago in Vegas at the NY NY casino and I absolutely loved it! Very fun game and I kinda want one now. The pro version is the one I played and it seemed perfectly fine, although I've never seen or played a premium version.

IMO if you're thinking of possibly getting a Premium, you're much better off using that money to buy a Pro and put in the mods & upgrades you want. There's nothing better than fully modded LED Pro by Pinball Refinery. Check out the work Steve did on mine.

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/my-1st-nib-met-led-pro-pinball-refinery-edition-22

There's video of mine in that thread as well, although I also installed Timebandit's Total Lightshow mod since that video was posted. It's incredible! He's also coming out with a rising cross mod for the pro in the future. So many options for upgrading the Pro. You many not get the Hammer ball lock, but it's overrated in my opinion. Others would say differently, but all that matters is what YOU like

Pull the trigger dude!

Who is selling these for ~$5,000 shipped? If someone could shoot me a PM I'd be forever grateful. If a dealer sees this, feel free to PM me too.

Thanks,
Jeff

Nope.

Hopefully 5K with a shaker motor works.

When I called around about 3 weeks ago the minimum pricing had just gone into effect. I called Trent @ Tilt, Melissa @ Cointaker, JJ @ game Exchange and my local guy here in Vegas @ Planet Nine. They all gave the same quote and said that is the lowest and best they are able to do now, and they are also not allowed to offer free "goodies" anymore to persuade you to use one or the other. The only thing they are all allowed to do (from what I've been told) is offer free shipping. I used my local guy because I like supporting local business and his shop is 5 minutes away from my house so he comes and fixes all my games when I cant figure them out hahah. So basically if you have a local "guy" use him/her!!

#67 3 years ago

OK call me a trader I guess but after finding I could get the premium for a couple hundred more than i was spending on the pro with a lot of mods added I decided to go premium. I never was a fan of the hammer but I'm taking the plunge and will only add a color DMD for now and mod little by little as I can in the future. Honestly i wish there was a premium you could order without the hammer for a little less $$.

#68 3 years ago

Met all the way!

#69 3 years ago

i truly believe that the LED PRO is the way to go for home and on location.
mine has been in a local bar and had no problems and after a year is starting to make its money back.

i like the cab of the roadcase but i prefer the game play on the pro. LE / PREMIUM have slower game play with the hammer and cross.

#70 3 years ago

I just got a monsters this week the kids like the hammer more than anything it's a cool effect

#71 3 years ago

I am torn between MET pro LED or Medieval Madness Remake !

#72 3 years ago

Resisted a down vote as that sir...is a no brainer......!!!.............Joey

#73 3 years ago

I have a premium. Went that route because when it first came out it looked SO MUCH better than the pro. No LED pro option at that time anyway. If money is a concern them go LED pro otherwise go premium and be done with it and you will have no regrets. All you need is a color DMD....I still need to get one myself and will eventually.

I am glad there are lots of options and mods for Met pro but what I find absolutely funny is people will by a pro to save money......and then spend another $1000-$2000 in mods.....they end up spending more than the cost of a premium to begin with.....mainly to get spinners and LED's. Just buy a premium and call it done. Only things I added to my premium are mirror blades, lighted speaker kit, and a shaker....oh....fangs and tongue sticker for the snake.

If you truly do not like the hammer, get a pro but very easy to start spending money on mods and have more in it than what a premium would have cost to begin with....I hear a mod for a rising cross may may be coming for the pro.....how much is that gonna cost?...awesome news for pro owners that want it though.

#74 3 years ago

If you like the theme and you have the money...it's definitely worth it. Plays great, super deep rule set and when your ready you will be able to get your money back. No brainier!

#75 3 years ago

Have had mine for a week now. Just progressed far enough into Fade to Black for the GI to go out once you are ready to collect. Very cool! I drained before being able to cash in of course. Loving it!

Wow.
My Spinner mod was $45 shipped.
That must be some really expensive LED's someone used.

Hammer, different snake jaw, and light show. I think that is it. Pro better value imo and not a fan of the hammer. Plenty of mods to make the pro shine.

Coffin Lock - great!
Hammer - so so, but makes a great boom sound with a subwoofer!
Snake Jaw - great!
Spinners - great!
Light Show - great!
Moving Cross - meh..
1 Piece fuel target - meh
RGB inserts - great!
Metal apron - good!
Support rails - good!
Sliding lockbar latch - good!

Yeah, some of the mods are cheap but most of the for sale adds are modded to the max and usually have $1K- $2K in mods.......see it often with Metallica because there are so many mods available. Do some simple math and it adds up quick....LED's, Spinners, custom sparky, blades, shaker, every little decal add on you can think of, cliffy's, led light kits for snake, hammer, Snake mod from pin graffix, topper, speaker upgrades, color DMD, etc.........you can get to $1K -$2K in mods easily.

I agree. All that stuff does add up.
I just thought it was funny when you said people spend more then the cost of a Premium mainly to get spinners and LED's.
And of course we would need to throw out the items on the list that a Premium and LE owner would have to buy as well.
Such as a Color DMD, Topper, Custom Sparky and the like.
But I get your point sir.

My first nib and absolutely love my met with tons of mods including the total light show which is my favorite ..... which has also led to many other stern purchases since lol

I love your MET. Where did you get your topper?

#83 2 years ago

This was also my first NIB. I have added the sound activated lights, the color DMD, and a shaker motor. Hands down the best game in my collection.

I picked up a Pro LED last week. We did a video of some gameplay. Latest code installed at 1.70. Tons of funs. Enjoying it more than my GB Pro right now. So far no issues with inserts or clear chipping at the drain or shooter lane.

A customer of mine requested some spinners for their Pinball Refinery Edition of A Metallica Pro. This Metallica Pro turned out insane looking.

Metallica is a great machine for the money, fast and furious, polished code, and looks Amazing with mods.

I am still building Refinery Metallica Pros and Premiums.
