Quoted from Erik:

I just got a new Metallica Premium and I'm looking for tips on the following issues:
1) The hammer magnet will sometimes pinch the locked ball between the magnet and underside of playfield during the lock process.

I'd make sure the magnet coil can pull all the way down and be looking at the linkage, spring, and whatever is involved in having that magnet pull down. The thinking here is that the coil doesn't always manage to get low enough for the ball to get off the magnet before it starts on its way back up.

Quoted from Erik:

2) The snake was shooting the ball hard left -- in the FUEL/outlane area. I fiddled around with it but couldn't find a real adjustment. Seems like the ball was not directly over the post. So I put some dead drop foam inside the scoop on the right and it seems to work better but now wants to fire SDTM

This should fire to the left flipper ultra reliably. It should never go SDTM or into a sling or outlane. I'd start by removing your foam. You can take the snake off and expose the VUK and often use some pliers to bend the metal and better guide the ball on eject. It depends whats actually happening though. On my metallica I ended up putting some sticky back velcro cloth side on the plunger of the coil so that it doesn't spring back as far as it use to. The changed the whole dynamic. It may not be your fix. If yours is far off enough to be firing way towards the outlane, I'd be looking at the alignment of the linkage and post. There's no hard answer here. But putting some foam or tape or such into the roof of the metal is going to always be inconsistent and it will change over time as that stuff wears out. It's not a solution you want.

Quoted from Erik:

3) The snake jaw appears quite high when open. Also didn't see an adjustment here. Stack of washers mod?

This shouldn't really be a problem. It helps keep the shots that should go into the snake from bouncing out. But is it high enough to contribute to your issue in 2 above?
