I actually had higher scores the 1st few months just bashing away ; now that I'm "strategerizing" my scores have sunk. These red flashing spiders you speak of...mine only flash red briefly. How do I get those lit and why ?
The last shot you make will stay lit. The rest flash for a little for a combo. The one that is lit is the one that the grave marker, electric chair, or snake (which lights the ones next to it also) will light on when you shoot those.
