Quoted from Hudson:Just had a phenomenal game!!! “Got Blackened mode twice, Seek n Destroy mode twice, completed two Crank It Up modes, along with several multi-balls. I had never ever came close to this score before, it was crazy!”
Time to open those outlanes up.
Quoted from Nexyss:I finally made it to the club, with an awesome Refinery Edition Premium. This one was the demo unit at Pinball Refinery's booth at CAX, and it is an absolutely amazing machine. A big thanks to Gio and Steve! You guys are great to deal with, and this has been a great buying experience for me. I will try to take some pics tonight, but this is a quick one I grabbed at the show:

you are going to want to tweak that snake to not shoot ball right down the center drain..
Quoted from Nexyss:That snake is vicious! Sometimes it kicks it over to the left inlanes, and others sdtm.
Yeah, trust me you want to tweak that. You will be deep in a game, get one of those sdtm and then you will need new glass...
My strategy for metallica is coffin coffin coffin. Getting coffin MB allows to stack any of the other multiballs plus you get an extra ball lit in the process and usually a bunch of snakes and sparky's from misses. also once in any multiball, immediately go for the add a ball. That is the way I like to play it. its got me about 350m.
Quoted from Eskaybee:Question for the rules guys; if you get snake 2X scoring in mb, then get the piston 2X scoring, is that 3X or 4X pf?
4 f'n X
Quoted from Eskaybee:I always wondered, how do you do the super skill shot and select FUEL as the song?
go to Fuel, hold left flipper, then hit right flipper, then plunge.
that being said they should just remove the songs that are affiliated with modes and reserve them for the modes..
Quoted from Aurich:That would leave like one song.
they only have about 200 other songs.
works great. the only thing I have heard can happen is the captive ball can become magnetized and the ball in play can get stuck to it.. Might have to swap the ball out if that happens but I am not worried about it.
It allows for all sorts of good grazing shots to sparky and left ramp. also opens up the middle a bit from the right flipper.
Quoted from Aurich:Swapped my block for a Newton ball last night. Love it, totally worth the effort to upgrade.

I concur.. super awesome easy upgrade.
Just putting out a public service announcement.
DO NOT PURCHASE anything from IAMDARRAS (http://www.iamdarras.bigcartel.com/category/pinball-mods?page=2)
This A-Hole has had my money for over a year and not delivered what I purchased or responded to any communication on the matter.
Quoted from yzfguy:Is that 95 bucks for 2 LEDs or a new snake head with eyes installed?
new head with LEDs. But it is actually a $95 donation to a complete POS.
New premium.. Snake jaw errors.. jaw is having a hard time staying up.. most of the time it closes then opens again. Before I start taking shit apart. Anyone have a similar issue and the fix? the errors are jaw cannot open, jaw cannot close. I am not by the machine so I don't know the exact words.
Thanks!
factory LEDs on Met Premium/LE are the worst. I would much rather have sockets than the LED boards. They are not nearly bright enough and have no fading. I have LEDOCD boards in all my games that support it. It is one of those things that once you have in one machine you need it in all of them.
Hitting the piston target after a ramp or any combo shot scores huge points.. and it builds after each completed combo to the piston target. It is a huge oversight that most players have no idea about.
Quoted from Rob_G:Are blown pistons only good for an extra ball or do they count for anything else? What's the difference between when the lights are solid as opposed to blinking?
Rob
Blinking indicates the combo shot. Combos finished that the blown piston shot increase in value each time you hit them and add up fast.
Quoted from Tuna_Delight:Followed up with Stern tech today regarding the replacement spider inserts RGB driver board that I was supposed to have received for my new MET Premium.
Part is on backorder and no info as to when it will be in.
what is the problem?
Quoted from Tuna_Delight:None of the spider inserts light except for the right orbit, and that only lights a constant blue. Checked the circuit connections from the LEDs to the driver board under the playfield to the CPU board in the backbox. Stern tech thinks the driver board is the issue.
sound like board.. I had problems on my first and second premiums.. that board is a POS.
Quoted from Sparky:The pics were probably pre-production, and the plan was probably to use the captive ball on all models. I bet they were worried that the ball wouldn't catch on the magnet after ricocheting off the captive ball, so they came up with the block in an attempt to get the ball to drop straight down.
The above info is just my guess.
I believe the aluminum block is to avoid the captive ball getting magnetized and have the ball in play stick to it and get stuck.
