Aurich, your Sparky looks great. I will be joining the club very soon, just waiting for my Led Pro to be built. I am planning to custom paint mine also. Haven't decided on a theme yet. You did an excellent job.

I see a couple pics in this thread with people using the PinballLife Sling Protectors.
http://www.pinballlife.com/index.php?p=product&id=3270
Has anyone tried the Pinbits one? They are one piece for each side. They don't show it in the listing but I emailed and they do indeed also come with a spider etched Sparky airball protector. Does anyone have a picture of these installed?

Quoted from robotron:if you come to my house you can see many mods. i installed the green pinballlife protectors. they match the green on the apron. they look great! get ready to spend some bucks. this pin eats up mods!!!
You know I am going to try and make it this year. You are just going to have to keep an eye on me. I might bring my pro up and go home with your LE when you aren't looking
So I have ordered:
Pinbits Sling + Sparky protectors
Cliffy Mystery Hole protector
Shaker Motor
I think that is enough to get me going, then I can start picking and choosing which mods to tackle first. Still up in the air about magnet protectors. Open to suggestion. I know one local guy cuts his only Vinyl circles and just replaces them when they wear. Also heard the IM magnet protector works on the sparky magnet. I am open to suggestions on what works best and is safest for the game.
Quoted from Aurium:Where did you buy this air ball protector? I need one, this looks great.
That is the one that comes with the Pinbits sling protectors. They don't list or show it on their site but I emailed them about it yesterday and they said it is indeed included.
I have decided I will most likely NEVER get in on a pre-order for a pin in development, I just don't have the patience. I paid for my Pro a week ago and waiting for Stern to build it is already driving me crazy. My hats off to guys that have patiently waited years for a pin to be built. =)
I am still waiting for my confirmation. Do you know what day your order was placed with Stern? With Stern shutting down Tuesday to move to the new factory, we are running out of time for a delivery next week.
Improvements over the last batch of LED Pros or improvements over the original Pros? The two main improvements over the original is LEDs of course, and the new backbox.
Just found out that the local freight company has been calling and leaving messages on my home voice mail since last Thursday. Taking the day off tomorrow to be home to take delivery of my LED Pro. Hopefully all goes well and I can join the club tomorrow! =)
I have officially joined the club! The local freight shipper said they had it on their dock Friday, the sticker on the back said it was built on Thursday. That is pretty impressive.

I have a shaker, cliffys, sling & sparky protectors to install but those can wait until tomorrow. Right now I just want to play a few games and take in that new pin smell
Now I just need to learn how to play it. Never played it before so I don't know the rules yet. Any good links to rules would be greatly appreciated.
I didn't check. Figured I would put in the shaker tomorrow. I wanted to just get a few games in tonight since I didn't even get it in the house and setup till about 7pm. I will check it out tomorrow after work and let ya know.
Installed the Shaker Motor, Silverjet Balls, Sling Protectors, Sparky Protector, and Mystery Scoop Protector today after work. I am really loving this game already. Going to sit down this weekend and order some more mods. I wasn't sure I would like the Pinbits sling protectors but now that they are on, I love them. I think they look really good.
So what do the settings for the shaker actually do? (minimal, moderate, maximum) Do they affect the intensity of the shaker or the frequency it is used? Right now when sparky gets electrocuted it sounds like my machine is about to take off.

Right now my shaker is set to moderate but I am not sure how exactly it's affected by the setting. Hoping someone here can elaborate on it. I will change around some LEDs in the future but for now I have more important mods to worry about
Yeah I think I just need to get used to the shaker I think. I haven't hooked up my sub yet because my kids sleep right above my game room. I will probably turn the shaker back up to maximum and then just disable it when I play at night when the kids are sleeping.
This game really is brutal. Tonight I hit 150 games in 5 days and I am the only one who has played it. The sad thing is I have a couple 100+ million games, a bunch of 50-80 million games and a whole LOT of under 10 million games. Everyone talks about STTNG being a drain monster but after owning both, the outlanes on Metallica are deadly.
I have been going with the tactic of starting with sparky multiball since it's the fastest way to complete everything needed for Crank it Up. I seem to have a bit of trouble hitting the scoop though and find myself draining ball 3 with CIU lit, which really sucks.
Anyone have a picture of service rails installed on a LED Pro? If I go with the marked drill holes at the bottom of the playfield, both rails will have to be angled towards the center. It just doesn't seem right. Curious to see how others have installed them.
My buddy came over and played mine last night for the first time. He only stayed about and hour but he really liked it. Like me, he has always been a Metallica fan. About an hour after he left I got a sarcastic voice mail from his wife thanking me because he won't shut up about it and is planning to sell his "players" TZ to buy one and said he is raiding her "kitchen remodel" fund if he needs to cover the difference.
It really is a great game.
So how often do you guys wax your machines and how many plays before the first wax? I have had my machine a little over 2 weeks now and put 320 plays on it. I probably put that many plays on my STTNG over the course of a couple years. Regular cleaning/waxing wasn't a huge issue before when I didn't play much so I really don't know how often I should be doing it. What do you guys recommend?
Quoted from nicoga3000:The outlanes on this game feel like STTNG sometimes.
Mine sits next to my STTNG. The outlanes feel worse than STTNG
I bought my LED Pro in the beginning of April and Melissa beat 3 other distributors by at least $100 and included a CT Shaker. It was a no brainer and will be calling her again for my next purchase. What is your location? Maybe the difference in price for you is shipping?
Quoted from rlslick:You can order it from Pinbits. They don't show a picture of it but in the description the sparky protector is included. Just ordered this set recently and received all three pieces.

That is the one I have on mine and you do indeed get the plastic protectors and sparky protector. You can even request different colors if you email them.

Quoted from Roostking:I am finally back home and thought there was a 1.64 code for the METLE. The stereve website only shows 1.63, which I am on, but I thought for sure there was a 1.64??
There is a 1.64 that is shipping with new LED Pros. I posted on Stern's facebook asking about it and was ignored. Lately they seem to reply to EVERYTHING but my question about it was ignored. It must be something very minor for them not to publicly release it but it would still be nice to know.
Quoted from Aurich:I like to do whatever the f**k I feel like with my games personally. That's why I paid thousands of dollars for them.
I feel the same way. I used to think differently....and I played by myself all of the time. I changed the setting to carry over S&D shots and make Blackened easier to attain and now my Wife plays it every night. If it makes the game more fun for the players, I don't see the problem. In a competitive setting I would want it as hard as possible but for home use, especially when my Wife and kids are the only others playing it, anything to make it better.
That is exactly why I changed mine. My high score with stock setting is 311 million and I can hit 2, maybe 3 CIU modes in one good game. My wife on the other hand, doesn't hit 1 CIU mode in stock settings. With the adjusted settings she can hit most of the multiball modes and at least 1 CIU on a good game and she enjoys it. To me that's what it's all about, enjoying the game.
Anyone have a good way to stop the 2 lower spotlights from falling out periodically? I have a cointaker shaker installed and those 2 spotlights will wiggle loose and fall out every couple weeks. Of course the obvious is to take the glass off and make sure they are in good regularly but I am just wondering if anyone has a better way to keep them in?
I have always noticed it immediately when it happens, stop playing and fix it. My fear is one of my kids or wife wont notice and will keep playing, potentially causing damage to the playfield.

So those of us that have bought the Total Lightshow already, will this just be an addon to that?
Btw, my package just arrived a few minutes ago. Tomorrow I have the day off and will be waiting for furniture delivery most of the day so I will hopefully get time to install it tomorrow. Will get pics/video once it's installed.
Quoted from Rensh:Installed the GI Theater mod from Timebandit and some gameplay can be seen at

I think I can safely say I have now a real Promium
Hey Rensh, where are those instruction cards from? I have Bandit's GI lighting in mine also but I might have to look into the backbox light mod also. You machine looks great. Going to make me track down a few more mods =)
I picked up a Maker Architect 3D Printer yesterday and I wanted to do my first test print so I decided I would make a keychain for my Met Pro. I painted it with acrylic and used a gloss acrylic sealer. I think it came out pretty good for the 50 cents or so it cost to make =)

This is the one I bought
http://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id=107&cp_id=10724&cs_id=1072403&p_id=13861&seq=1&format=2
The price was right for a nice starter model.
I added my custom topper tonight. I pre-ordered the Metallica Pops! as soon as I saw they were coming out. My only disappointment is that they aren't bobble heads, instead they are fixed. I was hoping for the headbanging when the shaker fires I plan to add an led strip below them and facing them to give a spotlight effect. Will see how it comes out.
