I felt the instructions were horrible! Not much help at all.. But I did end up getting the dmd to work. I dunno why it worked but I put the older update (colordmd.rom) AND the newer one (chroma.rom) on the memory stick then updated the dmd.. it works now ! So purdy!

Hey Kornfreak..shitty about your pin! But I stayed home from work to play Metallica(for u!) & thought of another mod you are gonna wanna do!! Haha..but, change the songs! I realize I cant stand enter sandman and about 5 others if I want to keep er for a while! Anyone have new song list suggestions they've made fit?! You can definitely change ones that are impossible to get to on the playfield because of ramps, etc by unscrewing the lil hex head screws from the bottom..but dont bother on the lil pinch plastics ones! Just be careful pinching em!

I agree! That chrome looks horrible no matter what colour the rails are.. just doesn't suit the theme or rest of the cabinet IMO

I haven't had 100 million + game forever. I just levelled and cleaned mine up. Dammit! I got mine set up at 6.8º slope and a short ball save.. tried with it off for a while but couldn't take the quick drains! I've only ever hit 2 CIU's in a game a few times...never seen anyone get to e.o.t.l. yet either! Damn, i LOVE this game!

$2000 extra for a rising cross and a coffin ball lock feature (deadly mods available for that tho) seems a bit high. You could buy an F-14 tomcat with that money! I say stick with the pro & spend the money on a nice playing SS.

Everything lined up for me using this.
I see titan recommends 2-1/2's for the slingshot rubbers on that chart.. but these aren't titan rubbers. Hmm, wouldn't that lose all the action of the sling?! Guess I could put it on and find out! That's the one I broke! Put a used one back on for now

I’m not sure what rubbers feel like once they need to be replaced.
I'd say just visually inspect them when you're cleaning the playfield. Rotate around the posts and check the creases for slight cracks in the rubber. The slings rubbers are the first to go tho. My MET is now on route so if i can get more plays on the 2-1/2's without losing "sling action".. I'll put them on next cleaning!

Just waiting on my Cemetery arch and I think I'm finally about done modding this one. Metallica is far too mod-able. More so than any other pin I can think of. It's easy to go down a hole of modding on this one but I love this game and dont plan on selling it so I dont care about the money I dump into it. It's my personalized pin and I love it

Get a digital torpedo level and don't even look at the bubble beside your playfield. Mine is at 6.8-6.9. If you're going to use a phone app make sure to take it out of the protective case..not sure what I think of those apps tho.

Ironically, I think that shape of the skull looks like Vic Rattlehead's. Dave mustaine would be proud! I don't think that really fits the game. The color & size don't really go with anything on the playfield (in my opinion)

Great attempt at humor in a second language. He didn't add any lights. He changed the housing to a cross. How in any language does that add more light?

Spinny-vinny did make these mods.. I'm not sure if he's still in the pinball mods either.. last I read some people were having a hard time reaching him. I follow his IG account and he's definitely busy with an art studio and painting big pieces! Reach out to him tho, maybe he has more made! Mine was an early prototype i believe.. not sure tho how many more out there tho. The sparky is done by Vince too but it came with my pin when I bought it. I've since got the matching shooter rod and snake ramp mods..

You can make that bracket on a 3-D printer if you have one.. a fellow MET owner shared the file with me.. PM if interested and I'll send the files!. Btw, the bracket works great! It centered the bulbs and disperses the light much better.

I've had a kind pinsider share the pdf file to print your own cross inserts if you have access to 3-D printer.. message me with your email address and I would share the file. Also have the file to print the plastic piece that aligns the LEDs in the 4 large inserts just above the flippers. annnd he also shared a cemetery arch file that you're welcome to have as well!

Did the parchment paper hold up well?! I have some pretty serious gouges on my whirlwind and im almost afraid to install the art blades on it! I guess you could always double up the thickness if concerned they won't save the artblades! Interesting.. I'm going to give this a test trial! Thanks i realize the only other time i used parchment paper was to flatten some old playfield plastics in my oven.

Once it's lit you need to collect the other three band members. It's usually hooked up to the the pic target beside the right ramp(forget who it is!) It also has the audio of a spinner ripping .. it's not tied into the scoring code of the premium/LE, but looks rad on the pro's! Nice mod imo!

It’s just a shame something as simple as a spinner was not on the pro…..but on the flip side they did run this game for like 5 years so there was PLENTY of time for people to get one…..street price of a premium was 6400 shipped……compared to new game prices today that’s a bargain. Plenty of premiums were sold so they are out there but your gonna have to pay for it. It is what it is.
What scoring does the spinner affect? It lights one guitar pic. that's it. No scoring

Except that the refinery lighted rails are ugly as heck and an eyesore when not activated in my opinion. The artlades are not obstructive and would be my preferred choice. To each their own tho!

There is only one mb that's a 4 ball multi-ball(coffin mb) two are a 2-ball (snnnnaaaake, and the cemetery) and sparky mb is a 3 ball..* unless u get it in the snakes mouth twice during mb.. then it adds a ball*

I've been looking for an excuse to powdercoat something purple. Tron felt like a bit of a stretch (although at least the TRON letters are purple) but Metallica.....Ugh. It feels like it just needs to be done. lol
Guess I need to go looking for some used rails/legs/lock bar so I can get rolling on it. I'm not sure I can handle having either machine down while parts are off being beautified.
Damn.. do you know the name of the green powder coating used on your premium..after seeing it again in the secret santa thread i really like it! I haven't done my Metallica but still plan to one day.. kinda like the green over the purple lately!
My Metallica hasn't been home for a while and is currently in a brewery being enjoyed by lots of locals! Will get it back home in the next few months though.

1. What improvements are marked by the Vault edition over the original, apart from LED's?
2. Could MET Premium Vault be far behind, especially given how long it's been out of production? Is there any buzz on this?

I'm wondering what they would/will do to the awesome dmd animations. Redundant live video clips from their concerts, or something like foo fighters and make up a storyline with sparky maybe? Can they touch the rules and add some new code or modes?
