Hey guys, Soon to be new HMU Met Pro wooden backbox owner here! Can't wait to get it. Just curious, the "sparky" figurine, will it be ok if it's shipped without putting the foam back in it? Long story short the current owner who had the game given to them, is shipping it for me. It was hard enough for me to talk to her over the phone to get the balls out of the machine to ship. Just curious if sparky can take being shipped 1600 miles. Thanks!

#8914 7 years ago
Quoted from Butterflygirl24:

My Sparky has traveled many more miles back and forth to shows folded up in the back of my trailer and he is still Rockin' and Rollin' just fine! So I can't imagine there being any problem!
Phoebe

Awesome! I can sleep tonight then thanks! lol I saw an unboxing video and thought oh no I don't want to attempt having this woman try to wrap that up!

#8920 7 years ago
Quoted from Rickwh:

Id be more worried about a non pinhead packing the game for shipping than any head banging from sparky.

She didn't do too bad well I facetimed her son to help with it. The shipping company will use more blankets then shrink wrap it. I just wanted to make sure some protection was in place at least! HUO so I'll be a mess till it gets here!

Can't wait mine loaded up today should be here in about 10 days! Already downloaded the latest code as I'm sure it wasn't updated at all. Then lets the mods flow!

My Metallica has arrived safe and sound! Merry Christmas to me! This is what we work hard for. I am an official Metallica pro wooden backbox owner. What an awesome game! 600 plays on it since new. Looks like it's got most of the Cliffys' done. I guess the guy did LED's on this one. I had it set up played 2 games and installed the color DMD what a difference! I did one in my Monopoly and it was a huge difference but the Metallica color DMD really pops! I love it! I guess speakers and shaker motor will be first up for mods! Is there a color changing led flourcent tube for these? Be nice to just do something like a color changing tube for a quick and easy change. I know I want to get that out of there quick before it kills the translate and ribbon cables!

Sparky's head is turned to his right, should be staring at ya while you play. Nice game!

Thanks I'll fix him up!

Very nice now you just have to show me how you did it and where you got the parts!

#8968 7 years ago
Quoted from snakesnsparklers:

Very nice. Get some magnet protectors and a sparky airball protector on there pronto!

I think I have the Sparky plastic protector already? Here is a pic of my Sparky is that it on top of his feet? I have the Cliffy set just looks like I need the magnet protectors only. I'll have to see if I can just order those.

Quoted from yzfguy:

Nope, the extended protector actually makes a big difference. I have a clear one, because I like it to look like he is just sitting there, but two posts beneath yours is a busy fluorescent one that almost looks like shackles around his ankles.

Do you know who sells the extended protector? I saw a guy on here was making them but he don't have them anymore.

I was on V1.6 and no issues with my color DMD just upgraded today to V1.7 and still good. Might be a loose connection or something. I did some blue LED's along the back board since I was playing it

So several peeps have asked about sparky protectors over the last few months. I didnt have my scroll saw so was unable to make more. But I have my scroll saw back now. So putting feelers out. If i can get 10 or so peeps that want one, ill make a new batch of protectors for 6 shipped to ya USPS.

Put me in for one.

#9044 7 years ago

Does anyone have the shot card/poster you get with one new for sale?

#9097 7 years ago

Did the pop bumper LED mod in the inserts today. Came out nice and now the inserts look full again!

Quoted from dnapac:

Got a question. I bought my Met Pro in August 2016. It has about 2500 plays...yes I love to play it. I've noticed some damage in the shooter lane from the ball being kicked out. Not on the rail side, but the opposite side in the lane itself. Can I do anything about this. I've never seen a cliffhanger/etc. for this area.

Mine started this as well. I have a dent but no clear coat chipping yet. I got the Cliffy froim Pinballlife.com and it's a must mod for sure!

Hey guys just curious as I'm new to the game and learning still. It seems most of my audio (call outs and music) is coming from the speaker in the bottom of the cab and almost nothing from the head speakers. I have to almost put my ear to the speakers to hear anything from the ones in the head. Are they typically set up that way? I did the latest patch as mine was behind and that didn't change anything audio wise. I see the different menus for sound but it's hard to tell if I should leave it like that or move some more sounds into the head speakers. I'm going to upgrade the speakers and want it to sound the best. Not that it sounds bad coming from the bottom of the cabinet I'm just wondering if I'm missing something here. Thanks!

#9196 7 years ago
Quoted from Rob_G:

Make sure one of the speakers isn't wired backwards.
Rob

Thanks for the reply Rob, They are original speakers still soldered from the factory. They look like they were done right from Stern.

#9282 7 years ago

Well I can see why guys swap that post out for the metal one and I may try it. I know when in game play it is annoying when I shoot up there only to have the ball come back down the same way. Funny thread about it because I always thought hmmm that's strange! I actually pulled my ramps and cleaned the PF all over back there. Thought maybe something wasn't right with that shot and it was a flaw in the game.

#9315 7 years ago

Hey guys anyone add the Tournament button to their game? I couldn't stand the plugged hole there and this looks much better. Does Met even support it? If so where do you tie it into?

Quoted from Lermods:

The wires are there, look inside. Wired the same as the start button.

Oh nice! I saw some wires there was wondering what they were! That was easy! Thanks!

#9319 7 years ago
Quoted from NightTrain:

Get this instead. I put them on all my games. They are great!
http://www.pinballlife.com/index.php?p=product&id=2894

I was thinking about that as well but I typically don't have to adjust the volume on my games.. loud!

#9334 7 years ago

I actually installed a shaker motor today from pinballlife. It took me longer to install it then to wire it up. Brown wire up near the head laying in the bottom of the cab already and everything else was there. I love the fact all the holes were pre-drilled for the PCB and for the shaker motor already. I think it was the fastest mod I ever installed.

Quoted from Bigbossfan:

Since mine is a new build.....I'm wondering if they're doing something different now. Because I was able to find a wire that is tagged to plug into J1, but it's only a two pin connector. I'll take a pic and post later on.

If I can sneak over to my arcade today I'll shoot a little video or something to show you how I did it. Mine was born 9/2013

Did some more Cliffy's on my Met today. Ball drain protector and the Sparky carbon fiber protector. Looks like I need a new magnet core. Where do you guys buy them?

Where did you get the protectors for the ball drops?

Cliffy's as well. I use those on all my games where the ball drops from a wireform or ramp

Quoted from flynnibus:

Unless its actually mushrooming out where the core is bigger than the hole.. it's fine. It will look chewed up like that. When you need to address it is when the edges mushroom out and start working their way into the wood.

Ah ok nice. It's like a mountain if anything still. It's not flat at all. I guess the only problem is I might not even see that mushroom out over time with the Cliffy there now.

Ordered a new core for the magnet on sparky some time ago finally got around to installing it. I was surprised after a handful of games with the new core there was some dimples on the new one already. It sure was time to change it! Gave the PF a coat of wax and played a bunch of games. Felt good to rock it out.

Side note, When I shoot the left loop, sometimes it won't go all the way around. Was there a way to change out that plunger in the back to a smaller one so it will do the loop. The loop will be lite but the ball will go up and come back down the same way.

I actually bought it some time ago but I think this was it... https://www.pinballlife.com/magnet-core-plug.html

#17980 3 years ago
Quoted from newpinbin:

How hard was that to get out?

The nut was on there pretty good. I used crescent wrench and broke that loose. I used a huge screw driver I had and you actually screw it up and out! Don't try to screw it down and out the bottom of the PF. It spun out pretty easy with my monster screwdriver. Someone even said you can use a quarter with vice grips to screw it out.

#17982 3 years ago
Quoted from embryon:

If you have access to a lathe, you can turn the old one flat and reuse in the future.

I do and I was thinking about that. Actually there is so many threads on these things I bet you could just run it out from time to time clean it up on a lathe and spin it back in till there are no threads left

#17984 3 years ago
Quoted from Shredso:

I've repaired several mushroomed magnets with a belt sander. I didn't realize they were only $12. Maybe it's the Williams ones that were much more expensive.

I think they are all the same actually no matter what pin?
