Does anyone know which Pinsider this was? The ad is archived and was stripped of name and contact. I really love the color choices he made with the led's. Was hoping to PM him to see if he'd share what type and color he used.

Quoted from HoakyPoaky:"Added art to the combo high score to date display effect in the attract mode. Changed the font for the combo award and the combo jackpot award"
So I was wondering......if they added new art animation/changed dots to the attract mode, how does that effect those who are running a colorDMD? Will the new frames still appear, but just not colorized? Just curious.
ColorDMD will update the code for it. Similar to how we updated the game code. If you take a look at there website, you'll understand.
Quoted from 85vett:No need to remove the top of the head. Slides in just fine. Be sure to clean the mating surface for as residual wax could be transferred there from the ball which will hinder the decal from staying down long term.
I put a piece of mylar over my snake tongue. I started to notice a small spot of wear. I have had the decal on since new and game for a year now.
So how is the new V1.64 code? I gotta install that tonight or tomorrow , as I have it on thumb drive ready to go.
Oh, and today ( 7-2-15) is " 1 " year since my game was delivered to me from Pinball Refinery.

Its just little tweaks, I don't think I would have noticed if I hadn't read the changes. I'm still very happy they're honing the game to perfection!

Seek & Destroy mode has been changed so it now awards 1 cross,
1 snake, and 1 electric chair each time one of the main shots (left
loop, cross lane, left ramp, right ramp, right loop) is made when
lit. This allows progress towards lighting "Crank It Up" during
Seek & Destroy. This rule change also solves the problem of not
being able to light the snake to collect SNAKE letters during
Seek & Destroy, since only a shot on the playfield would allow this.
- Boosted Seek & Destroy scores from 750k to 1M (seek shot) and 375k
to 500k (regular shot).
* This is actually a big deal*
Awesome game just got better!
Well, it looks like default captive ball hits for EB is 15. But also on default is EB at 25%. So after quite a few games last night my EB is down to 13 hits already! New code is an improvement for sure, but I haven't started Seek & Destroy yet to see it in action.
Note for all MET SmartDMD users:
1.64 is compiling now, should be ready this afternoon
FYI - I've converted the marco file from "In-frame" to "Serial Side-Channel", so moving forward all updates will require the serial add on.
Still working on "Seek & Destroy", but it's almost done
Same here Northvibe, updated the code lastnight and didn't play it. Let the wife get her name on the board for once. She put up 45 million, which is pretty good for never playing!!

Steve is working on my PR edition at the moment
I don't know if anyone has fixed the following "bugs" before, but I've decided to share these:
Display:
- Crank It Up - Battery mode intro animation: Removed 2 "static" pixels during the animation in the lower-left corner.
Sound:
- Coffin/casket multiball instruction (James): Replaced "Smash four balls to start multiball." with "Smash three balls to start multiball.".
You can download the zip here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ah1qajm3l9vcn1a/Metallica%201.64%20Fixes.zip?dl=0
The zip includes a macro for Pinball Browser (MTL164-PRO-LE.pbm).
Just be sure to change all the *PATH* references to the correct location of the folder using a text editor.
If you find any other DMD or audio "bugs", just let me know and I'll try to fix them.
Quoted from Rensh:So, have a SMARTDMD in mine running with the colorfile of great PinballMikeD. Problem is I have a painted Sparky by Geert Koop (his very first one I may add , Sparky goes Hawai) and colored is flesh Sparky.
So spent some time altering PinballMIkeD's work and see

Nice in green . This type of DIY is what I love in SmartDMD and yep, ColorDMD looks great to but I am a DIY guy
Per your request, I've fixed the "Battery" bug and tweaked the color assignments, so it should be easier for you to color Sparky green
Here are some examples:
Quoted from PinballMikeD:I'm working on colorizing the score digits and can't decide which color palette I like the most (red or green), which coloration do you think looks the best:

I like the green.
Can one of you Metallica owners tell me what songs play during certain Multiballs.
I am changing out a few songs with pin browser and need to know which ones I want playing during different multiballs.
Thanks.

Snake = Sad But True
Coffin = For Whom the Bell Tolls
Sparky = Creeping Death and/or middle of Ride the Lightning
Graveyard = Master of Puppets
My changes:
Snake = Am I Evil?
Sparky = Ride the Lightning from the beginning of the song (put RTL in Creeping Death spot, and replaced original RTL with Four Horsemen)
Graveyard = still MoP
Also changed Unforgiven to Shortest Straw
Also swapped Enter Sandman with a louder version of Enter Sandman.
Also swapped One with My Apocalypse and the last two mins of ...And Justice for All, which plays during Lady Justice mode
I'm sure this has been covered alrwady somewhere in this thread, but I'm very pleased with the results of adding a couple flexable leds underneath the snake. Makes noticing when the snake is lit easier...
Quick video of it in action.

Pretty sure coffin MB is "For Whom the Bell Tolls" and not "One"
Quoted from Apollyon:Pretty sure coffin MB is "For Whom the Bell Tolls" and not "One"
Yep, that's right. I'll edit my post.
Two quick questions....
Where can I find a copy of pinball browser, and will it run on a Mac OSX? I'm guessing the answer is no.

Page one of this thread. And yes. It appears it can run on Mac.

Adding a green flasher to the spot behind Snake makes a world of difference. I also added a blue LED (can't remember if its a flasher or not) behind the captive ball. Since they're both white by default, you can't tell what the hell is going on when they're flashing. The colors do a nice job of separating them.

Good ideas. I'll be considering this for sure.

What are the lights connected to? I tried pausing to see where you tie into at. Like the idea and want to do this. Thanks

I tapped into the same lights that trigger the bulb over the snake's head on mine. I ended up using a green LED strip but same idea. Really helps add more light/color to the area.

There is a z connector for the green "feed the snake" light. I simply wired up two more lights, tapped into that connection, and made a connection at the end of the line to reconnect the orriginal "feed the snake light". Does that make sense? If you pause at 45 seconds, you'll see a white connection with a red stripe on it. That's the one. Take a look under your PF, it will only take a moment to find it.
Here was my shopping list not including wire:

Similar idea in a mod that pinball refinery sells. It's a set of 6 green LED's that stick on the back of the snake assembly. It plugs into the lamp under the right ramp and lights the same time as the green snake bulb.

My Refinery Pro came with those but mine are green.
I finally picked some ride the lightning rails after months of searching. I haven't peeled the white off the backer but its a mirrored finish behind it.// Error: Image 425783 not found //
While I still love my IM, after digging into the Ruleset (thanks Aurich for linking to the great write up), Metallica has become my favorite Stern.
May be trading my favorite pin of all time (my immaculate TZ) for a MOPLE. I never saw this coming. Metallica is a hell of a game. And I don't even care for the band that much!
Quoted from Hougie:I haven't messed with it yet but, are the song locations the same for pinball browser?
Edit: It looks to be the same.

I can confirm they are the same.
And there is a typo above. Ride the Lightning should be 1199 and not 199.

Picked up a NIB pro led last Friday. Only played this game a handful of times before. Heard how great it is from everybody and figured I would take a chance on it. Must say the game is pretty sweet. Still don't really know what I am doing on it, but it is a blast to play and family and friends think it's the best in the lineup. Looks phenomenal and I can't wait to add some things to it.

The papa tutorial is pretty great for learning the multiball modes and how to get to crank it up...
Anyone know where I can buy a sparky airball protector? Pinbits is out of stock and not answering the phone or email...
