Is it still possible to get a Premium NIB?
Quoted from wilsonza:Considering a Pro vs LE. For whatever reason, the snake jaw and motorized cross are not a big deal to me. The hammer is pretty sweet but seems like a double-edged sword.
That said, I'm a big LED fan and I've only played a Premium on location. The light show on the Premium is pretty outstanding. Is the LED Pro comparable or is the code notably different?
I think the lightshow is good on the pro but definitely not as good as premium but there a guy coming out with a kit to make it similar to the premium
Quoted from wilsonza:I don't think you can from Stern. I'm sure some distro out there somewhere has one.
I think Sturner probably meant through distributors, since Stern never sells direct.
Quoted from Rob_G:Has anyone noticed the huge bug with coffin multiball on the premium/le?
What happens is that orbit or ramp shots with the snake insert lit will open the snakes mouth and I don't think it should be unless you got all the picks. The snake mouth shots then count towards snake multiball. If you start snake multiball - which you should not be able to, coffin multiball completely stops. I also had coffin multiball stop in a game, with 2 balls still in play and I started grave multiball. I tested with the glass off and can reproduce the problem every time. Unless there's a glitch in my game causing the snake mouth to open - I don't see any issues in the switch matrix....
Rob
Acting as intended. The snake is still available to start snake mb in coffin mb. It is a bit confusing with the snake lock multiball feature as it's tough to tell what exactly the snake is open for, but it does open when you shoot a snake shot of any kind inside coffin mb prior to stacking another mb.
You can stack snake, chair, or cross with coffin. It doesn't end coffin mb, but the stacked mb will take presidence in terms of lighting, dots, and music which makes it seem like coffin has ended, but it doesn't.
Yes sorry, I meant through a distributor. I found some who have Pros but none with a Premium (Monsters). If I can't find one, I'll probably just grab a Pro. Sounds like it's one of the best Pros they've ever made.

Im not a stern guy at all however met pro is really really good especially with the creeping death mod and shaker .

I wouldn't gamble on how many more runs they might do. As soon as they end, you'll pay more for a used one, especially since most guys add a couple hundred or more in mods, powder coating, etc.

You'll like a Pro, I have a Refinery Pro with alot of extra bling and I love it.
I'd be pretty surprised if they didn't do another run of Met Prem or if they don't come out with a "Luci" type premium. The kept running AC/DC Prem until the end due to how well it was selling. Seems as though Met is still pretty popular so it just makes sense. I guess since the pro is so well liked they may not feel there is a big enough market for them though. Seems as though they could sell a couple hundred pretty easily, especially if they are monster premiums.
It's that "Heads I win and Tails you lose" situation I normally run into. Buy a pro and Stern will announce the next day a new run of Prem. Hold out for prem and they wont do another run and you miss out on a NIB pro.

Are you absolutely sure? Try it with the glass off and see if coffin shots still score jackpots. When I tried they don't seem to score jackpots any more. You just get the regular ball hitting the coffin animation with how many hits are left to lock the ball. That in itself doesn't seem correct.
Rob
Is it confirmed how long Stern has the license for? I am in a similar position where I'd like to get a Pro currently, but if there is some "Luci"-esque re-run possible for the premium with new cool artwork, I will hold out to see if such a thing arises.
Quoted from sturner:Is it still possible to get a Premium NIB?
automated still has one (but they want $8,300 for it, $8,800 for the dirty donny one with the autographed and painted items). I picked up the last one that the gameroomguys had last month
edit: correction, it looks like automated sold their last ones as well

It's always possible you have found a glitch in the code, but starting and stacking any of the other 3 multiballs inside of coffin multiball is both possible, and glitch-free for me. Coffin continues to run underneath the new multiball started.
Note that a single coffin shot in coffin mb relights unclaimed coffin jackpots (purple spider arrows). Repeated coffin shots themselves don't keep scoring jackpots in coffin mb. Perhaps its a simple misunderstanding of the rules of coffin mb? The jackpot progression in coffin mb is Coffin -> spider arrow -> coffin -> spider arrow... over and over until all spider arrows are collected. Then the super is lit at the coffin. If you just keep hammering the coffin you will get no jackpots past the first relight - no clue what the dmd does so I don't know if this matches your symptoms.
I'll try to record it I get a chance.
I'm in agreement with Purpledrilmonkey. I thought it wasn't collecting jackpots to for a while until I got the super jackpot. It's subtle but it's still running in the background. On a pro, it will be even harder to tell as you don't have the colored inserts to help to advise on what is lit for scoring since the color on the pro is always red.

The Premium makes it a little more clear what you need to do because of the color changing inserts. I love my Pro, the color changing LED's are the only thing I miss. Pro is slightly confusing until you figure it out.
I don't care about the snake holding the ball and I actually prefer not having the hammer.

Hadn't thought about that but yes indeed. The purple spider arrows are the real indicator the mode is still running since the dmd is full of too much info if there's any appreciable stacking happening.

Ok, I tested again with the glass off. While coffin multiball is probably still running, it's hard to tell that it is. Yes, I was mistaken about the rules as well.

Finally figured out a way to pull this one off. My Metallica pro is coming from cointaker next week!

Congrats and welcome!
I recently discovered the magic of left ramp, right ramp, piston target for "EOL" cash-ins. Does anyone have the math on how this grows? It seems like a really fun way to go about things when you get bored of smacking Sparky over and over for multiball.

You make it sound like bashing Sparky is the only thing going on in this game.

Well, it's hard to argue that Sparky isn't a super easy way to make CIU progress and get pretty decent points.

AFAIK it doesn't grow like the EOL does in Tron. In Tron, every combo builds the jackpot for that ball, in Metallica it doesn't keep building just due to combos as far as I can tell.
It seems to grow for each shot made in an 'in-progress' combo, then whether collected or not it seems to reset; maybe to a slightly higher starting point - that I don't know - but it doesn't 'freeze' it's value like Tron does.

Dear middle metal Outland post,
You suck!
Sincerely Adios
Ha.
So many balls lost to this. And the worst part...I usually just watch it bounce, bounce, bounce, drain.
The outlanes kill me in this game, I shake the crap out of it still no stopping that bounce out. The sling shot to outlane beats the hell out of you. Man this game will straight out punish you for missing shots
Quoted from shovelhed:So I just installed Sparky's mini Lcd, it is just awesome and a must have mod. image.jpg image.jpg I cant thank Sparky enough for making this pin even better.

Hey Harley, I just put 2 and 2 together and realized you operate the games at Fannie Ann's? Is this a different MET than the one you have there? I haven't been there since you started operating, but I was always disappointed with the condition of the games before you took over. I hear you're doing a great job with them!
The Op's name is S. Borel, i just help him out here and there but i believe in his philosophy which is, put out pins you would want to play at your house completly broken down and shopped, plus hearing what the pin community wants to play.

Anyone else have an issue where sometimes 2 balls are ejected into the shooter lane? They seem to almost come out simultaneously and it only happens once every 5-6 games. Hard to track down the cause since it's irregular.

Also the scoop of the trough, that can break the welds and allow it no balls out or multiple balls. My tron and csi broke. I'm still getting the 1-2 times extra eject to get a ball out ever now and then on metallica.

I had this problem on IM, and the cause was a wire that had come loose on one of the switches (just barely touching). Give all of the switch wires a gentle tug to make sure they're still attached.
I removed the backglass from my METLE today while the machine was turned on. The brightness from the fluorescent light in the head and the angle from which it was shining across the playfield made me notice thousands of little divets in the playfield. The playfield has an "orange peel" texture. I am assuming this is caused by the balls getting bounced around, but they are pretty consistent all over the playfield and not just in areas where the ball gets some "air". Is this normal and has anyone else noticed this on their MET? Did I get a playfield that missed a coat or two of clear coat? The game only has 500 or so plays, so it's not like it has been abused. My AC/DC which I've had longer and has more plays, doesn't seem to have the same "orange peel" texture. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I think what you're describing is dimpling. This is perfectly normal. A metal ball is flying around and hitting against wood. It's much more noticeable on new machines because there aren't as many dimples and I think the lighting is better and playfield shinier.
Good news is that the more you play, the less noticeable it will become. Otherwise, there is nothing you can do to stop it. It's just part of pinball and all machines have it.
Quoted from sturner:It's just part of pinball and all machines have it.
I've been playing pinballs in the local bowling alleys since I was a kid, some 40 plus years...have never noticed it before, but was really never looking because it wasn't my machine. Thanks for the info...I'll sleep better tonight knowing my playfield isn't effed up!
It was there on those games too unless they had thousands of plays (very likely) already and the dimpling became uniform and caused it to flatten out. It's just the wood compressing.

I'm in the club! Picked up a NIB Monster Premium a month ago from The Pinball Store AKA Automated Services in CT. This is my first pin. I ordered a Lebowski, but I guess I got the bug before it came in.
Loving it! It did need the magnet control board and I snapped a drop target the first night I got to really play it. I had an awesome experience with Mike the owner of the Pinball Store. Stern was great about sending out parts. Took some time to get them with the factory move, and I was traveling so I just got it all working this week.
My Mods so far are pingulps, sparky protector, and I put in some super shiney pinballs in it. Don't know how far I'll go.
I've been reading around here which helped with everything, so thanks to everyone in the community. I got myself an extra sparky that I'm painting... it's a work in progress. Will start a new thread and post some pics.

Can I suggest, in a friendly way, that you maybe redesign your website? It's really hard when you first go to it to understand what to do, and what your products are. You might have more sales if you could clarify and simplify. I would like to see all the products, in a grid, with pictures of each, and a quick description of what it is / how it's different from the rest. And price.
Then I can see all the products, understand which one fits my need/budget best, and make a purchase.
When I can't do that I often just close the browser window. You've lost me because I had to dig, and it was hard to compare, and I just lost interest. Much of my mod buying is impulse. If I have to think about it too hard I'm gonna realize it's a stupid way to spend money, and not do it.
Yup, we have a new one that's close to ready... So disappointed with how the original is. Just what we got stuck with... I'll pm u the new site still in construction. U can take a look
