The reason for the Aluminum block VS the steel captive ball is that the captive ball will become magnetic over time because its so close to the ball lock. This will cause balls to stick to it and will need to be nudged off. The aluminum block does not. I would not suggest the captive ball.

I put a neon green ball for my captive lock.

Quoted from Dee-Bow:

I recently watched some gameplay on YouTube and realized I've never ripped the spinners during Seek & Destroy ..I have a pro that has spinners added but not recognized in the code!(obviously!) Never really knew what I was missing out on.. now it kinda bugs me dammit! Still the best pin I have ever owned and only one I'd consider bolted to the floor

Can you share a link to the section of gameplay that shows the spinner scoring during SnD? I have an idea for a better way to add spinners to the pro that maybe could mimic the Prem scoring.

I'd have to watch again but it was pretty early in the video I think...

That’s cool. Little dash of color.

Thanks!

I think you meant the Fade to Black as being much different with the spinners, not Seek and Destroy? That's the one where jackpots are affected by switch hits. Also was reminded from the video that Fuel jackpot grows with switch hits, so that would also be more lucrative on the Prem.

Excellent "rule cards" from Bowen's video;

Quoted from PinFever:

I like block over ball

Yeah, I kept the block in mine as well because I was getting many airballs off the captive ball. I think if the coffin magnet core is even slightly not level it causes the ball to lift a bit as it travels over. If the ball then hits the captive ball above center, it will launch into the air. You can easily see where the block gets hit at higher points, but it still doesn't launch the ball into the air.

Having a problem that I can't figure out. The rear up-post to divert the ball from making the loop shot pops up and diverts the ball every time that the right loop or left loop switch is triggered. So the loop shot can never be made. I replaced the diodes on the loop shot switches in case one of them was faulty, but with no change. Everything else on the game functions as it should.

Any ideas on what could be causing this behavior are appreciated.

Amazingly simple fix. Will give it a whirl.

Hi MET fans! I’m working on my newly acquired MET and am painting sparky. I noticed he has cracks on both feet - cracks are currently pretty small in width but they are long and I imagine it’ll break soon. I’m guessing as the plastic gets older it becomes les flexible over time and is prone to cracking. I also noticed holes in the bottom of his feet and it looks like some kind of plastic was injected in there, likely a previous fix to harden up the feet, but the cracks worry me.

I’m thinking of injecting some epoxy in the cracks as best I can. Are there any other recommended fixes? Any mods like some small metal plates or something to mount under the feet? What are you all doing to keep sparky whole?

The loop is usually available only as a combo; is the post still coming up if you shoot the orbits after making another shot and qualifying a combo? Combos are indicated by red arrows IIRC (Prem)

Note that the post fix mentioned above is for when the ball bangs off the raised orbit post and comes back down the orbit instead of going into the pops.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. Perhaps I am just misunderstanding the ruleset. It's a routed machine, so I will check on it this weekend.

I had a shoe snap off. Used epoxy and had no issues with it breaking again. I’m curious to see what stern does with the new version of the sparky bash toy. With potentially thousands of Metallica pins going to be sold in the months to come you would think they will want to avoid warranty replacements on broken or cracked feet.

Do you have facts or speculation on a new MET ?

Thanks, Metallik. It was indeed operator error on my part. The post is working as it should and I was misunderstanding the ruleset and lights. All is well with the game. Thanks!

Made a lil custom topper for my Met LE. Master of puppets tape off Etsy, James/Lars figure that came with the pin purchase and piece of thin board off the back off one of my old arcade1up machines to mount them on painted black. Need to find some lil mini spotlights to put on James and Lars.

Can anyone recommend where I can't get a protector for the airballs on Sparky? I also need a magnet protector as well.

I'm about a decade late to the party here but just thought I would share my audio overhaul on my MET. Got a SAM amp kit from PinWoofer and kept the flipper fidelity speakers that were already installed. It doesn't sound as good as my Spike 2's obviously due to audio quality limitations but it is a huge improvement! The bass really thumps! I have an external subwoofer but honestly don't think I need it. It already thumps hard. Song selection is subjective but these are the ones I went with.

welcome home (sanitarium) > ride the lightning
harvester of sorrow > enter sandman
orion(through the never live)> unforgiven
breadfan > sad but true
the god that failed > battery
the four horsemen > seek and destory
creeping death(through the never live)

I swapped out Orion for One originally but I went back and switched it for unforgiven instead. Feel like the Lady Justice ramps mode just wasn't the same without it. Not sure I like my ending sequence as much as the OG but who cares.

Holy shit that is awesome. I have an LE and would love to add songs on there. Is there only a certain amount of songs you can put on the game? Or can you put as many on there as you want? Also, how do you add songs on there?

Don’t mind sharing not really sure best way to do it if someone wants to pm me . As far as swapping out the songs there’s a pinball browser thread on how to do it I just kinda read through it and tried it. Gotta try to swap songs with similar length .

#21832 20 days ago

You have to use Pinball Browser and replace the songs that are in there. It’s not hard, but there is a learning curve and it is tedious. Can’t add anything without subtracting something else, unfortunately.

Pretty sure it’s due to the amount of small storage those SAM boards can hold. Unfortunately.

If I wanted to switch the song sad but true out for shortest straw, would that work? SS is 6:32 and SBT is 5:24. If not, what is the max amount of extra seconds you can go with? This was what I was going to switch out.

Somebody step in and correct me if I am wrong…. I have about three days experience on the program. On the registered version of pinball browser if the song is longer than the OG song it will just cut it off early… if it is shorter than the OG it adds blank audio to match perfectly lengthwise to the OG. A message came up and told me blank audio will be added. Probably make sense to not go beyond 30 seconds difference.

Quoted from Codybomb2000:

No, you could have 1TB of storage and it wouldn't matter. Pinball Browser allows you to swap one resource for another, it can't change how the code behaves like adding an extra mode or song.

Thanks for correcting me. How much storage is already on the Metallica with the most recent update?

#21838 19 days ago

Use Audacity to loop or cut the song to the length you need to match the original song.

Having an issue I’m hoping someone can give me advice on - the optos in front of soarky’s feet were misaligned. The right metal housing that holds the right opto was slightly bent. So opto was aimed to high and would never activate. I took it off, bent the rod that goes below playfield (held by nut under playfield) and that seemed to fix it. Olayed fine for a day. Now, tonight, the problem is that sucker fires constantly. And n switch test mode, even with machine sitting still sometimes, or on a nudge, the opto is firing.

Is it just a bad opto? Or some misalignment problem?

Do you have Creeping Death Powerbladez installed ? Those set mine off all the time with no known fix, so had to take them off, everything works fine now

#21841 12 days ago

Thanks. I don’t have the power blades. I was able to bend the metal a second time, this time I had to bend the base of the back screw and not tighten the nut too (tight, but not so much it bends the metal) much underneath playfield. Fix seems more stable now than last time.
