Quoted from newpinbin:$900 for $50 worth of plastic????? WTF!
What is crazy if you think about it, for a long time the cost to buy a spare Metallica premium playfield was $999 when available.
I’d rather have a spare playfield.
I think my Sparky is still the original, I might try to cushion the contact points on the feet to extend their life, shouldn't interfere with game play too much.
Also, maybe this is already known but I put in the black Metallica pinballs from Cointaker and they sped up an already fast game, too fast actually. I incorrectly attributed it to waxing the playfield which I did at the same time, but turns out it's the pinballs. I think I may put them in for tournaments but otherwise, they are too frustrating for normal use.
Any quality 2 part epoxy will be solid as a rock if used properly. Back when I had a POTC, I read about the sails getting broken so I backfilled the entire sail with epoxy and I could have driven over it with the car. It's also how I have made some custom shooter rods. Drys glossy and smooth to the touch which is great to the touch for a shooter.
Quoted from konghusker:What epoxy did you guys use that’s held up?
JB Weld ClearWeld
Quoted from ktm450:They retailed for $225. $895 is not price gouging??
And other options are?? I agree $895 is probably getting crazy though.
What was your car price 10 years ago?
Quoted from ktm450:They retailed for $225. $895 is not price gouging??
Price is a function of supply and demand. If he didn't raise the price with supply at this level someone would just buy them all and hoard them.
John Stossel actually did a pretty good series of videos about this topic. If you don't increase prices in situations like this things are often worse as people hoard stuff and it becomes infeasableto supply more of that good.
Consider this, at this price someone actually might decide to produce a reproduction sparky. At $225 it's probably not worth it for anyone.
Quoted from Gorgar666:Someone actually already hoarded them and now sells for $900
haha, I guess that's one way of looking at it!
At least they're still for sale though. If I found them on sale for $225 I'd buy them up and keep them for myself.
Quoted from Anony:haha, I guess that's one way of looking at it!

I know many people bought an extra to use as a Topper. Wish I could find one of them for sell.
Curious about game # and Playfield #. It's probably in the thread somewhere if I was to read through 20k+ posts.
My game is #91 but the playfield is #71.
Finally got this bad boy installed on my machine. Instead of 3M tape he installed the topper on a sheet of plexiglass.
Had to drill a hole to gain access to the right location of the backbox hole.
No big deal as he told me it was made for Godzilla.
Very happy with it.
Would not mind another topper such as from Aurich, but I know he’s slammed fulfilling Tron topper orders. Which is awesome btw.
Hello !
Happy new owner of a met pro !
I've just purchased a pin2dmd and i'm now wondering how to have it working.
From what i understood, i need to make a sidechannel cable with a db9, as stated on the pin2dmd website.
But for the 1.8 rom patching, i'm unsure of the process.
Who do i need to contact?
I had a pinball browser license but i changed my laptop and it seems to be restricted by hardware. So how to do that ?
Any help appreciated
I just picked up a Metallica Pro and looking to install a pin2dmd, reading through some old 2016/2017 posts it looks like I’ll need to patch the game rom, is that still the case and does it work with version 1.80?
Help appreciated

Someone else did mine when I bought the pin2dmd so I can't go into detail but yes you do need to patch the rom and you need a pinball browser license to do it. It will work on 1.80. you can probably find instructions on the pinball browser thread on this forum.

Someone did a native PIN2DMD colorization (so you don’t need to change the game code). I have no experience with it, so no idea how complete it is or how it compares with the SmartDMD version.

Hello guys,
i made a classic colorization for pin2dmd, where you don't need a pinballbrowser or a rom patch.
Here is a smal video:
If you have any questions just contact me.

I bet your a riot at partys
I'm quite new to pinball and I suck at reading the manuals. One of the red LEDs in my right slingshot has gone out. From what I can tell it's a BA9 bulb but I'm not certain does anyone know what the exact bulb is or where I can find it in the manual? Cheers thank you Metallica premium or whatever the purple one is

Bulbs under the slingshots are #44 and they are 5v. You can get them from cointaker or comet.
Just curious what you guys would price an led version pro with sweet topper, creeping death art blades , and the lightning rods to light them up, led snake eyes, fangs and tongue, shaker, sparky plastic protector, snake ramp, cliffys, lit speakers and grills, and maybe a few other small mods I’m forgetting? Debating on trading for something new like tmnt premium, Toy Story, wonka, JP premium. Any thoughts? I’ve had it since nib and probably 1000 plays or so. Pictures just added for quick reference, not detailed pictures for an ad

Friend of mine has basically same game, with topper, 1 owner ,low play etc. No action at 8k. Of your list jp is the only one I'd give up Metallica for, and personally, I'd not do that trade either. Met is my last pin to sell if I get out,
I wouldn’t do it.
Especially not for any of the pins you listed.
There are Very few pins out there that give the Thrill that Metallica gives once you’re rolling and feeling invincible. It’s seriously an “electric ride”.
It’s a Very special pin IMO. Irreplaceable.

I agree with this. Every time I consider selling it, I just can’t do it. It’s a favorite among guests too. I just played it again and love the game. Just itching for something new and prefer games that are more story based, progression based style games.
Quoted from nocreditdot:I sold Metallica and sorely missed it. I had to get another. Don’t do it. Top 3 game all time.
I moved my MET Pro to storage for a while to make room for my friend’s Bond Pro (temp loan). I’m really missing it right now. Might need to put my new CC in storage instead.

Good call, or sell cc. I did
I sold my Metallica pro and I really miss it.
It will be back one day though.
Story progression games are fun but once you complete it. The thrill of trying to get there is not the same. I owned DP for just about 4 years. I completed the game at least a few times. It was still fun to play but the interest to progress through the story wasn’t fun anymore. Having said that, DP is an amazing game and I miss that one too!
Games with shallow code are not bad as long as they’re fun. I always enjoy a few quick games without the commitment of time trying to progress through a bunch of modes. I owned Godzilla for about two years, undeniably a amazing game, but I didn’t play it enough. It played too long for me and I’m not a competitive pinball player, I’m just average. Anyway, maybe I’m crazy, but I don’t miss Godzilla. Would take Metallica all day over Godzilla.
Just my 2 cents.
Wow, those prices. Maybe I

I’m right there with you. Sold Godzilla LE after seeing the whole game and would never sell Metallica LE. Music pins are keepers for the reasons you stated. Will be interesting to see this new rumored Metallica rerun. Stern has been repopping a lot of titles lately

I'm seeing why. Bought mine about a month ago. Got it cleaned up and now it's been the only game I'm playing.

I'm hoping they don't really run the mople, but if they do, I'll be a buyer. And keep my pro, was the first modern pin I bought in 40 yrs in the hobby. I'll never sell it.
I'm wondering what they would/will do to the awesome dmd animations. Redundant live video clips from their concerts, or something like foo fighters and make up a storyline with sparky maybe? Can they touch the rules and add some new code or modes?
If they make another Metallica, I’m keeping my LE and selling something to add a second Met! Can’t wait to see what’s coming. I hope it’s live concert footage and not the cartoon stuff like Aerosmith
I’m not giving up the Awesome DMD animations for a Metallica “live concert footage” version.
Not a chance!
If anything, same here, perhaps a 2nd Met added to lineup…
Can’t believe it. Really thought Metallica would want a MET2 instead of a vault
Dammit.. my lineup is full. I would not be able to part with my original MET Pre for a 2.0
Would that also mean new layout, fallouts, additional code, different objective? I’be not followed Sterns models of re-releasing games.
I’ll have to stand on the sideline and see what they do.
Has anyone actually heard of a new version, or is this all just people's imaginations?
As far as I know, any vault has been the same game. Maybe a metal backbox on a rerun or some other manufacturing differences, but where is all this concert footage LCD talk coming from?
Anything is possible with stern. It seems unlikely to me for them to rerun a title from an older board set.

If I’m not mistaken, my MET Prem was from the last run and I thought those had the Metal Backbox.
I would not care if they did a re-run, but a full blown new game will surely piss off my wife. Haha

Yes, so is mine and it does have a metal backbox.
And I stopped looking at Caneda years ago, when he was a major annoyance here and thankfully banned, so I guess that's how I missed the "Anniversary" rumor.
