I’ll play my MET tomorrow and try to come up with something good.
The only thing left I want to add to mine is a signed Metallica drumstick to the right of the shooter lane. It looks awesome but a signed one is way more money than I can afford.
Quoted from swampfire:I’ll play my MET tomorrow and try to come up with something good.
Just change it to Tallica Sucks!
Im just fukkin around! Just because i don't see the importance doesn't mean this doesn't require some serious thought and consideration! \m/
I’m gonna try to catch up on the 5000 posts I’ve missed, so I can flag any key posts. If you want me to flag any particularly good or informative posts, just shoot me a PM.

This one is pretty good since it has a video showing the core removal but also tips on how to do it safely.
I'm digging the new thread title! I was going to suggest "Jump in the Fire," but "Ride the Lightning" is just as good. My Metallica LE is never leaving!

Well dang, looks like I have to be a mod to make a post a “key post”. :-/

“Snakes take a beating”, best innuendo line in pinball.
Quoted from swampfire:Decided on “Ride the Lightning”. Runner up was “Metal up your ass!”
I like “Welcome to the Sanitarium” too
Dee-Bow you’re right, it doesn’t really matter.
So " Fry that mother fu%&er " is out?
May 15 will be the 10-year anniversary of this thread. We should have a virtual party or something.
I just picked up a SWE1 and noticed its club thread has under 200 posts. This one is over 20,000! This must be a record.
Quoted from finnflash:I had one on mine for a few years, only issue is the protector started to bubble over the sparky magnet and soon made a cup for the ball to sit in. You would need to give it a good bump to get the ball out of it.
So
Quoted from newpinbin:Met is the only machine I will never sell.
Really…? Never say never
I think a lot of us plan to take Met to the grave. That said, if someone offered stupid money for my LE…I might consider. There’s always some shiny new thing tempting us
Quoted from darkryder:I think a lot of us plan to take Met to the grave
This is true. I have a tricked out Pro with low plays, HUO and is the LED model, and still would require stupid money for me to part with it.
The only way I'll sell my Metallica is if I am doing what the previous owner did, selling it to get an LE.

I am in the same boat. Upgrading to an LE does not seem possible in my books. Not worth paying the extra cash for the decals/translite.
That ship has sailed long ago.

This is easily the best owner's club thread! But the Official NFL Thread is over 57k posts!

Hi all,
Finally managed to snag my "grail" game; a MET Premium (used to have a PRO)
Arrived with a couple of issues though which I'll have ro search pinside to resolve:
#1: Snake needs adjustment; seem the right height, receives ball o.k and jaw working but when kicking out the ball is hitting the hammer? - really annoying as affects gameplay.
#2; Hammer magnet doesn't seem great; after hearing "lock is lit" the magnet very rarely grabs the ball after a captive/block hit - only seems to grab it after a bounce off of snake
#3; left spinner is too much over to the left and so was scrapping against the left side - have tried bending the frame which has moved it just enough, but is there a better way to adjust?
#4 experiencing a bit of lighting flicker here and there; IIRC I need to re-seat 1 or 2 things connected to the controller board?
#5; sparky magnet has mushroomed ; works fine and pf not damaged, however something to think about
#6; plunger needs realigning; it's basically hitting part of the autochanger rather than centre of the ball.
I am also not too pleased about how the colour dmd (lcd) I fitted, with the gap (as slanted speaker box - used the mounting kit), but I guess I'll have to live with that.
Regardless, really pleased to have the game and have some mods etc still to fit.

Congrats. #2 is pretty typical from what I've read from others. My machine is similar. If you find a fix let us know!
Also change the sparky magnet out as soon as you can and get the extended sparky shield if you can find one. If it's mushroomed you're going to get a ton of air balls going up and smashing sparky in the face or missing the opto in front of him. My scores went up quite a bit when I fixed that because I was missing so many sparky shots that should have hit.

No check other post about the hammer! Tou need the V4 board (hammer board) plus newest code ->> all problems gone (no adjustments in setup needed too). Check the board, if its V3->> problems

No no! Check your hammerboard under the playfield, is it a V4?? If not replace with a V4, update to latest code (no changes in setup) ->> all problems gone, perfect hammer!

It says Rev D if it's Version 4 right? I checked and mine is version 4. I'm pretty sure it's normal for the magnet to be a little weak catching the ball and you need a slower roll over it to get caught.

Yes, that’s the latest board, but strangely enough I had rev 3 first with lots of problems and not hammering at the correct time and catching the ball at all. After the new board I really have only correct hammers and it’s also catching the ball correct. Even spittings from the snake it catches sometimes….
Probably one MET is not the other….
Anybody have the Sparky topper from Tilt? I love mine but the mounting system sucks and it keeps falling off. Anybody have a permanent solution?? The brackets just miss the factory screws in the top off the back box.

Hmm... is this from the recent last build? Seems one of your brackets is bent. I am one of the last people on the list to get one from Tilt.
At the moment I am of no help. Not seeing more details the L-bracket would seem appropriate, but I wonder how it keeps falling off?
Maybe get a longer screw and add a lock washer if there is not enough room with the current screw.
Washers are commonly used to stop screws from loosening.

I checked and I have Rev C - time to order a Rev D I guess...
Re; Snake - I'll have to download the manual and see which parts can be adjusted.

The brackets on mine are the same way. So far the velcro it comes with is holding it in place but it does make me a little nervous.

Oh, did not read his last statement the L-bracket misses the factory screws. Hmm... Once I get mine, whenever that is, I would be inclined to replace the existing L-bracket and find a longer L-bracket to screw that bad boy down.
I hope the L-bracket is fastened with a screw on the frame... seeing the tight space using a L-shaped Philips head would do the trick to switch out.
Annoying, yes... but hopefully a simple fix Home depot can take care of.
If I am wrong again I will stop responding until I get my topper to see what to do.

It’s not screwed down. It’s being held with the included Velcro strips. It’s top heavy and if you shake the game at all it gets to wobbling and pulls the Velcro loose

The sticky part stays. The Velcro is pulling apart
