Great pics!! We've been to Oregon dunes a few times, but never to CA. Is that where these were shot?

While i have been to Cali many times, these are actually the Kilpecker dunes near Rock Springs wyo. Some very high speed dunes, 6th gear pinned on a banshee.

Alligator clips are bad, mmmmkay.
Looks like someone did some "work" to that, based on the electrical tape.
The first pic is from the factory I can't find the replacement that's like that one it's not in the owners manual either I could make something work but woukd like to go back to the factory style
The positive and negative screw on top they have those little cardboard like washers to keep them from touching each other has to be a part number on them somewhere

Just installed my new Cliffy protectors! They look great and they were easy to install.
Best of all I was having issues launching the ball into play. The ball seemed to be bouncing around before it entered the playfield and sometimes wouldn’t even make it to the bumpers. I dealt with this for the last couple years and was unable to fix it. The lane protectors completely resolved this problem! I also don’t have to worry about the damage the bouncing ball was causing.
Also the metal in front the the snake had warped over time making a lip in front of the snake target and making it a pain to shoot the snake. The new carbon fiber piece not only looks better but resolved my issue with shooting the snake.
My only regret was not installing these earlier as there was quite some damage caused in my shooter lane.
Thanks again Cliff for my new protectors.

Good idea man.
I’m a huge fan of Cliffies, but the rollover switch protectors always cause ball hangs. We had to pull one for the tournaments this weekend.
Anyone ever bend the curved metal piece over the hole, in the mystery scoop,to help stop balls from bouncing out? I remember in the Dialed In club thread, people were bending theirs to lessen the bounce outs.
I’ve never had a bounce-out from my scoop, but I’ve got Kerry Stair’s metal protector lining the sides. Maybe that helps?
That's what's on mine, and a lot of shots bounce out on me? I might try to put a piece of foam on the front inside of the protector to deaden the blow. But I'm wondering if bending the metal like some dialed in owners did on their phone scoop would help?

Interested in hearing if others hand better luck- like you, my scoop rejects a lot. Not sure what metal bending you're referring to though.

It’s the curved metal piece that acts as the backstop for the Mystery hole. I bent it down and forward a little bit tonight. I made a lot more mystery shots tonight . But that doesn’t mean anything, until I test it again tomorrow. It could be just a coincidence I made more tonight? The sane part of me wants to bent it a little at a time, and the impatient part of me wants to bend it a lot.
I’m guessing that changing the angle of the backstop/Power Scoop, will stop the ball from bouncing straight back at me ? It worked for the Phone Scoop in “ Dialed In” so I’m hoping it works for the mystery scoop too? I included a picture of the part.
If I were you ,I wouldn’t try this until I’m sure it works .
that metal part will bend (and weaken) over time after repeated strikes from the pinball (both entering and exiting the vuk). there's just no getting away from that.
Hey Pinsiders,
I've been MIA for some time because life/school/moving/kids/work got in the way.
I've had a lot of messages for interest in my cross inserts that help focus the light. If you sent a message and it went unreplied, please forgive me. I'm going to work on another batch shortly, and put them back up in the shop if you've been waiting.
It turns out that later runs have a different size dimension for the opening. I'll also hopefully come up with a solution for those as well.
Upvote if you're interested in a set and i'll get an idea of how many to put together.
Cheers.

It is a 3d printed shape that makes the cross inserts actually look like crosses when lit.
I've had a kind pinsider share the pdf file to print your own cross inserts if you have access to 3-D printer.. message me with your email address and I would share the file. Also have the file to print the plastic piece that aligns the LEDs in the 4 large inserts just above the flippers. annnd he also shared a cemetery arch file that you're welcome to have as well!

They work great to reduce the bleeding purple light around the small cross inserts on the playfield
Just got a Metallica Pro, 2017 build. After a few games I started having issues with Sparky registering after every vibration. Mainly flippers. After some troubleshooting, switch test mode, everything normal, banging the playfield near Sparky, not abnormal registering, I unplugged the shaker and everything was back to normal.
I haven't opened it up to see if there's any abnormal wire issues yet, as the shaker seems to work normally and did so entirely for a few games. Was wondering if any of you had this same issue and what you did to correct it (aside from just keeping the shaker off). I tried searching on here but didn't see a whole lot about it and didn't want to scroll through 383 pages.
Thank you!

Check the target between his feet, might be gapped too tightly.
Quoted from Lermods:Check the target between his feet, might be gapped too tightly.
Yeah I checked that initially. Nothing doing. I unplugged the shaker and that seems to stop the Sparky issue but now I am having an issue where anytime it ejects a ball from the trough it automatically registers hitting a skill shot yet the ball is just sitting waiting to be plunged. Also because of this it eliminates being able to choose a song. Not sure if this is a voltage issue, an opto issue or an issue stemming from the board the shaker was plugged into.
I'm having a filter mailed to me that may help with the voltage but won;t know until it gets here.
Quoted from DJY2J:Not sure if this is a voltage issue, an opto issue or an issue stemming from the board the shaker was plugged into.
Originally you mentioned sparky registering during vibrations.
If you knock on the playfield in various spots, do you see anything the switch test? Easy to check that first.
Are any switches coming up wrong in the switch test such as when checking the shooter lane switch?

What switches are showing as active in the switch matrix?
Sounds like you have a switch stuck closed (or open if it's an opto). Check the switch test as the other folks have mentioned. Also watch what insert flashes when you get the free skill shot. That could narrow it down quick.
Quoted from Lermods:What switches are showing as active in the switch matrix?
Current switch most test illustration.
Now it seems all my right side in lane, outlane switches, skill shot lanes at the top aren’t registering. The shooter lane switch and all other switches register.
Also it seems it’s not acknowledging ball drains consistently.
The issues just keep piling up
9271CC44-58A0-46F5-B9A4-AC4BB33B12A6 (resized).jpegFound the issue. One of the optos wasn't plugged in (my fault). Another was seated 1 off (not my fault).
Still having trough issues from time to time that ill have to inspect.
Also having issue where grave marker target/opto not registering. This appears to be something that has already been happening when the game arrived to me last week. All plugs seem in place seeing how I took the marker apart to reseat the bulb that wasn't lit.

Confirm the balls aren't magnetized. Do they stick together slightly when placed on a table?
Quoted from Neal_W:Confirm the balls aren't magnetized. Do they stick together slightly when placed on a table?
That was something I thought of initially and have tried different sets and none are magnetized. I had all the issues listed above fixed and then realized the grave opto had been plugged in backwards and then once that was powered on I was back to my issues with Sparky going haywire again. Will keep investigating.
All issues above have been corrected.
Now I'm blowing the F8 Fuse every time I close the coin door. I've triple checked wires, I've tested coil Ohms. Nothing abnormal. Only active switches are flipper OES. . Prior to this the F10 was blowing but this seems to have subsided. I have an email to Stern but any suggestions are appreciated.

Are there any mods that would require tapping into power? Honestly, your machine has more issues than I've heard of since day one.
Quoted from Roostking:Are there any mods that would require tapping into power? Honestly, your machine has more issues than I've heard of since day one.
It's nuts. I have spoke with Stern. They advised me to unplug J10 from the IO board and see if F8 blows. If it does it needs board repair work if not its something else. Was hoping it would actually be board work just to end this whole circus of trying to figure out what it is. But alas, F8 doesn't blow when J10 is unplugged so the search continues.
I've traced the yellow wire with purple stripe (as advised by Stern) as best i can even cutting through zip ties to better access it fully. I cannot see any sort of impingement let alone a break.
At the advice of someone else I am going to unplug all coils and then plug them in one by one to see if I can identify the troubled coil. Problem is I've burnt through several 3A fuses and am now out so I have an order in to Marcos.
Maddening experience on this HUO low plays machine.
